The Panthers and Wests Tigers have confirmed a player swap for the 2023 season with premiership-winning winger Charlie Staines and Tyrone Peachey on the move.
Staines has been granted a release from the final year of his Panthers contract to link with the joint venture on a one-year deal.

Peachey will return to the Panthers after five seasons with the premiers from 2014-2018.

"Charlie leaves Panthers as a premiership winner with several fond memories, including his unforgettable NRL debut and his try in the 2022 NRL Grand Final," Panthers CEO Matt Cameron said.

"It’s great to have Tyrone’s experience and versatility as part of our club, and we believe he can flourish in the Panthers environment."

Meanwhile, Sea Eagles have signed Cowboys forward Ben Condon forward and extended the contracts of second-rower Haumole Olakau'atu and winger Jason Saab.

St George Illawarra have also re-signed outside back Tautau Moga and secured the services of Northern Pride front-rower Nick Lui-Toso for the 2023 season.

The news comes after Dragons added Zane Musgrove to their squad after releasing George Burgess.

Musgrove, 26, has played 62 NRL games and joins his third NRL club after stints at the Wests Tigers and Rabbitohs.

Burgess was contracted until the end of next season but has been granted a release after taking leave of absence from the club in July.

Meanwhile, the Dolphins have signed Dragons prop Poasa Faamausili for the 2023 season.

North Queensland Cowboys have agreed to a one-year contract extension with prop Jordan McLean for the 2023 season.

A long-term member of the Cowboys’ leadership group, the 31-year-old's contract extension will see him return for his sixth season in North Queensland.

Melbourne Storm have signed prop Aaron Pene from the Warriors on a two-year contract, boosting the club’s forward stocks ahead of the 2023 NRL season.

The news comes after Australian international Cameron Munster signed a long-term contract extension with the Storm that will see him remain in Melbourne until at least the end of the 2027 season.

The four-year deal will see Munster remain "a Storm player for life" with the 28-year-old saying he was delighted to remain in Melbourne long-term.

“It is such an important decision for me, and in the end, Melbourne is where my heart is, Melbourne is where I want to play my footy, and Melbourne is the club I want to be a part of for the rest of my career," Munster said in a statement.

Storm forwards Trent Loiero (2025), Alec MacDonald (2025) and Tom Eisenhuth (2023) have also committed to Melbourne following the end of the 2022 season.

Parramatta have secured impressive back-rower Shaun Lane through until the end of the 2026 NRL season, after announcing that he had signed a new three-year deal.

The Eels also announced the signing of Warriors forward Jack Murchie on a two-year deal and the contract extensions of current players Jakob Arthur and Sean Russell, ensuring all will remain at the club until the end of 2024.

The Warriors and Titans have both added to their forward stocks for 2023, with the Warriors picking up back-rower Jackson Ford on a two-year deal from the Dragons, while Gold Coast have secured the services of Joe Stimson from the Bulldogs on a two-year contract.

Just saw Fleglers being chased for upwards of 675k a year.
Sounds like were chasing him - I really hope that's not the case. Average numbers for him, just over 100m a game.
I've said it before, but Corey Jenson makes more meters in less time for the Broncos, and would likely be on less than half of what Flegler is after.
Will be 29 in January, if we could snag him for 2023 I'd offer him a 3 yr contract. Exactly the kind of guy were looking for, consistent 110-130m a game in 40 minutes.

Typical of us to sign the only dud Fijian winger ever.
If we weren’t so flush for wingers I’d be throwing the cheque book at sunia turuva- that kids gonna be a superstar.
Panthers won’t be able to hang on to him -unless they let to’o go- which wouldn’t surprise me…
We had another dud Fijian winger the year before.
Our history with signing Fijians is worse than our record with signing Englishmen.
Thompson, Evans, Bucuya (sp). Montoya is the only decent signing but he’s half Chilean.

That is quite a surprise. He has had a rough run the last few years toiling away in a side that has been at the bottom of the table.

Makes me wonder if something strange has happened. I know training hasn't started but it sounds like he's just texted the boys about this, which probably isn't the usual way a captain of a club would announce something, super sudden too

I’ve got no mail on this

I’m expecting he’ll announce a long term off field role at the Dogs shortly

Silly season starts tomorrow, and even if things are quiet for the warriors there will be plenty going down across the whole 17 teams to make for interesting days as a fan.
My prediction after going through a few of these is that Buzz will come out with the goods on day two as to who is going to get Dylan Brown and no one on this site will believe it but then it will turn out to be true. Buzz is never wrong with his mail.
