How much would you offer him to come play centre/wing?
Untried and untested but obviously a talent.

$400k? Can’t imagine he’d take much less than that
It would probably take $700k at a minimum tbh

With AB's on his CV and entering his prime he could get $1mil a season in Europe/Japan. Charles Puitau is the blueprint there.

This has manager release all over it. He won't leave union.

We have seen this often over the years with players mentioning how much they like watching the NRL or think it would be interesting to play league. The conversion rate from interest to signing has been pretty much 0% since then. No big names anyway.

Nonu and Weepu in the past have mentioned wanting to play league. Can't recall if it was 2020 or 2021 when TJ Perenara was talking about a short stint with the Roosters.

Can see why the players end up signing elsewhere. They get the marque money overseas where the NRL salary cap it would be a risk to sign someone on marque money from another code so the clubs need to balance the contract with risk/reward and balance their salary cap.

Not sure if there is still the union players don't count towards the cap. That rule seems to come and go and hasn't been used over the years. Even if it was is it would be just for the first year or first contract and the way people in the NRL whine the other clubs would see it as unfair even though they could of done it themselves. When the rule has come up it has either specified union or other codes. Must not be in place currently as the guys coming back from NFL the last 10 years would qualify.

Charles Piutau offers significantly more ball playing ability though, whereas Clarke appears a tad more 1 dimensional (albeit very good at that 1 dimension) that is a lot of coin for an untried centre/winger. In saying that i would pay the coin, would bring his name, confidence and hopefully a f$%king powerful game. South Sydney no doubt happy to read the article.

Yeah deffo can’t compete with euro or jap money as they blow most out of the water.

He wouldn’t be on huge coin atm, few hundred k for super rugby and has only played a handful of games for the ABs, however he is quite marketable so, I dunno. $400k would probably be a slight upgrade for him but also probably not enough to give him the incentive to move. Kinda prices him self out then, as anything more than that would be a pretty huge risk and potentially not worth it if he’s going to play wing the first few years anyways

We are fairly desperate at the moment for outside backs , this sounds strange but would you consider signing Fergo?
Normally I’d say, “ no way” , but he’s probably better than what we have and surely he’d be cheap?
Would give Kosi at least a round to see what he can bring. If he doesn’t look anything like it, then I would look at Ferguson for the rest of the season and see what comes on the market past that. If he kills it and fits in look at an extension. I like Kosi’s size, could see when Montoya bounced off Ravalawa last week he was stunned and he struggled with Marzhew’s size this week also. Maybe give Montoya a round at centre, he was defending so far infield.

Pretty obvious play by the Panthers. Keep both father and son happy and under contract.

If they can retain the players they need to or keep enough juniors coming through to replace the players they lose they will be one of the top teams for at least the next 5 years. Then it's a case of keeping the junior systems Gould implemented keeping the players coming through.

The part on Cleary taking less ($1.1 million) to stay with his team mates is something we have heard over the years. If it was $900k it would seem a bit more like that. At the moment if its $1.1 million against a potential $1.3-1.4 million. He hasn't gone to the market to see.

Then that's a big no for me for a wing or cnetre spot. He would have to be a centre but how much better then the centre's we have already?

I have just had official notification from Gc titans that they have signed Jamayne Isaako joining the club for the remainder of 2022 but adds he is signed by dolphins from 2024.

WARRIORS

The Warriors have struggled to fill their marquee player role in recent years with the exception of Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, who has switched codes to rugby union.

Reece Walsh is an exceptional talent at fullback, but he has a clause in his contract that allows him to leave the club if he does not feel settled when they return to New Zealand.

The knock on the Warriors in recent years is that they don’t have enough hard-nosed forwards willing to do the tough stuff and set the platform for the rest of the team.

Taumalolo would be the ideal player to build their pack around as he offers them big metres in the middle of the field and an exceptional defensive game.

The Warriors have been trying to recruit halves and fullbacks to turn the perennial underachievers into a consistent finals team and it hasn’t worked.

Nathan Brown said after the loss to the Titans that he was over developing players and wants to win footy games and in Taumalolo he could have a ready-made prototype of the modern rugby league forward ready to go.

hahaha what a load of horseshit.

Ponga staying with the Knights… but really poor form from Peter O’Sullivan in leaking texts to the flogs at fox league.

I agree but the story seems more about the fact that Andre Ponga wasn't keeping POS in the loop. I am with AP, getting his son the best deal for him bugger the rest of them

Yeah good on him as a manger getting his son the best deal, but don’t go on about honour and integrity like it’s super important to you and then strong people along and not inform of the outcome etc.
Absolutely looks like an arsehole, good on POS for sharing. I hate it when people play the moral high ground and then act the totally opposite
