Even though we see the Storm up there every year, we have had a pretty good range of clubs win the comp in the last 5 years.

It's great having these clubs like the Roosters and Sea Eagles in the NRL playing the role of villains, we have to have somebody to hate.

Had to laugh at Politis saying they manage their salary cap better than other clubs. If he didn't need to pretend they were complying he would need to do the hand signals to put the speech marks around "manage" and give a wink.

According to him they don't use TPA's well much............yeah right.

After signing Tedesco and Cronk they have enough for someone else especially now after Nikorima has gone cause he was on $400k. Even says Cronk was paid for pretty much as Pearce decided to move, but at one stage they could have afforded both of them. He sounds like a politician before and after an election.

It will be interesting to see how much pressures goes on Souths to release Crighton and if they stick to their guns and make him play out his contract. Releasing him they would ideally need a replacement.

If they were paying 400k for a reserve grader I think it just points even more to the fact they are cheating the cap big time.

For all the money and influence Nick Politis has used they haven't been that successful, especially compared with Melbourne and Brisbane.
Brisbane have the greatest coach to ever coach the game in Bennett. They also have their Thoroughbred Club that helps them rort the cap for their marquee players.

The Storm have been blessed with arguably the greatest spine to ever play the game. At least two of them will become Immortals I reckon. Bellyache is also a fine coach but we saw how well he fared against his big 3 when he coached NSW Origin team against them...

Origin coaching is more about man managing than anything else. Big Mal shit coach when he had the Raiders.
Didn’t make the semis once. Gus Gould best blues coach ever. Didn’t win a thing with the Rorters. But did have success with the Dogs and Panthers before he was appointed as an Origin coach.
Your right about Wayne very successful at both club, state and international level

Don't forget the other coach with success at origin, club and international level, Graham Lowe.

PENRITH’S boom forward Bryce Cartwright has quit the Panthers to join the Gold Coast Titans immediately.

The Panthers released Cartwright from his contract on Saturday to join their former NSW Cup coach Garth Brennan at the Titans

Bryce Cartwright released by Penrith Panthers to join Gold Coast Titans

2018 NRL Fantasy is now open

Penrith Panthers forward Bryce Cartwright has been granted an immediate release from the club to link with the Gold Coast Titans.

The release was finalised on Saturday, allowing Cartwright to join the Titans on a four-year deal.

NRL.com reported on Wednesday that the Panthers had told Cartwright that he needed to return to top form in the 2018 Telstra Premiership or risk being asked to look for another club.

However, it’s understood Cartwright wanted a fresh start after an emotionally draining 2017 with off-field issues plaguing his life.

The 23-year-old second-rower has experienced a turbulent past couple of seasons due to injuries, off-field issues and up-and-down form.

Gold Coast are coached by former Panthers lower-grade mentor Garth Brennan, who has played a large part in Cartwright's development through the ranks at Penrith.

“It’s obviously disappointing to be releasing a player like Bryce Cartwright, however, we appreciate his desire to seek such a change,” Panthers executive general manager Phil Gould said.

“We hope that this move proves successful for Bryce, both on and off the field.

“Hopefully sometime in the future, he finds his way back to Panthers.

“We wish Bryce and his young family all the very best.”

Cartwright, 23, was contracted with the Panthers until the end of the 2020 season but has battled injuries and personal issues in the past 18 months.

He played 69 games for the Panthers since making his NRL debut in 2014 and is the third player to link with Brennan at the Titans following on from Leilani Latu and Mitch Rein.

“I’ve known Bryce since he was 17 and I’m so pleased that we can work together again,” Brennan said.

“I’ve seen him develop over the past seven years and I believe he is one of the most skilful players I’ve seen on a football field.

“He is a massive signing for the club and we look forward to seeing him in Titans colours.”

He definitely had some dramas over the last couple of years in terms of injuries and his personal life.

Took me by surprise today to see that headline though. Interesting that he and Moylan both extended their current deals in 2016 so that they'd be contracted until 2021 and then now they are both playing elsewhere.

I get the feeling that Cartwright will be one of those players who had a lot of raw talent but never reached his potential. This move could change things though and good luck to him.

On another note, pretty funny that the Roosters have signed up both the ex ref who got let go last year and the ex NRL salary auditor as advisors to their club. If you can't be good, be good at it.
Who is the ex ref?
