Dragons have apparently offered Supercoach Craig Bellamy $6 million

And again this morning here. SMH has nothing on it bar referring to the DT's Fox Sports stablemate reporting on it, but misreading it slightly. Wording on Rothfield's original is designed be confusing and have people talking for 2013 when it's only by. The DT Raper article takes that view too.

Y'know, Glenn is a ruthless SOB and Watson has had a finger pointed at him for Hanover's shadiness.

Did Bellamy refuse to consider signing until our house was in order? So Elliot is brought in as coach for 2013 before he moves into the Football Manager role he was originally earmarked for. Staff headcount on the up and resources in place, they report back to Bellamy with the results, chance the signing and keep it on the QT.

Sure, what we're seeing at Warriors Central is probably what we're getting, but add Scurrah's love of couched words and Elliot's rep for silver tonguery to the attitude of the head honchos and there's still a part of me that expects them to front a press conference yelling out 'surprise motherfucker!'

This delusion has been brought to you by a lack of sleep and good coffee. I recommend Karajoz. Mmm, mmm.

^^^ Hope Buck777 doesnt read that post! Wanted to like it but my poor heart is still raw after the last Bellamy saga...

You FARKIN DICK! I hadnt thought once about that possible scenario and always believed it was the Dragons he would move to if he did but now I read this report on Fox Sports and you got me thinking?

Thanks alot you egg! Here we go, not this shit again :confused::D ...

Sooo he was willing to consider us if we'd given him a bit of time to actually make a decision? FFS...oh well, if the owners didn't want 2013 as a care-taker year then that's their decision.

Haha btw this thread was originally intended for NRL multimedia (video and audio), but none was being posted anyway. I've edited the thread title though.

It'll engulf Buck's sanity, and we've only just let him off suicide watch...

True that.

Interesting that after going for broke they didn't step off the gas a little when it appeared to be a genuine possiblity rather than a hit and hope. I would have thought Bellamy and Fordham would have asked for space and the prospect of nabbing him meant he would have got it.

Bellyache's quote can be read two ways: As it should be, that the Warriors are done and dusted and aren't a consideration, or Scurrah Style - all past tenses and caveats. [Stoke, stoke]

I read the story (with my Warriors tinted glasses) like this:

Bellamy says he is 50% chance of leaving at the end.
"The Storm has been very good to me but I am 50-50 in my thinking as this will probably be my last contract".

He's had more time to think and enough time for Scurrah to do his job.
"They wanted a coach straight away," he said. "They didn't want to wait that long (until 2014) so I would have looked at it seriously if they'd given me the chance."

The one thing that doesnt add up is why ME has a 2 year and has brought in his own coaching staff? All point to wishful thinking on the Bellamy issue put there is a small window of opportunity there. Maybe a tiny window!

Sinfield wins Golden Boot

  • Last Updated: January 4 2013, 6:34 GMT
Leeds and England captain Kevin Sinfield has become only the fourth Englishman to win the prestigious Golden Boot.

Kevin Sinfield: Landed prestigious award

The 32-year-old beat off competition from Wigan full-back Sam Tomkins, the 2012 Man of Steel, and Australians Cameron Smith, Ben Barba, Cooper Cronk and Nate Myles to lift the prize, awarded annually to the game's greatest player by Rugby League World magazine.

Sinfield skippered the Rhinos to a sixth Super League title in nine years, famously overcoming a sickening head knock to be named man of the match in his side's win over Warrington, and celebrated his appointment as national captain by leading England to victory in the 2012 autumn international series.

He also led Leeds to World Club Challenge success over Manly Sea Eagles and to a third consecutive Challenge Cup final appearance at Wembley in 2012.

Sinfield, who is expected to lead England in the 2013 World Cup, is the first Englishman to win the Golden Boot since former Wigan and Great Britain skipper Andy Farrell triumphed in 2004.

Ellery Hanley (1988) and Garry Schofield (1990) are the only others to win the award since it was introduced in 1984.

Rugby League World editor John Drake said: "The British game can and does still produce individuals of world-class ability.

"Kevin Sinfield is one such player and it is right that his towering achievements in 2012 should be recognised with the Golden Boot."

Martyn Sadler, chairman of League Publications Ltd, said: "In the Grand Final Sinfield kicked five out of five, from all over the pitch, and that after he had been knocked out earlier by a challenge to the head.

"What he did in that game goes beyond what could reasonably be expected, even of a Golden Boot winner.

"Twice injured with brutal clashes that epitomise the sport, he simply shrugged off those knocks, got up and got on with his own game, setting an example for his colleagues to follow.

"After the game he denied that the head clash had marred the game for him. That demonstrates another quality that marks out great players, almost unbelievable courage and toughness."

Clip showing the head clash, briefly! Also shows finals highlights and interviews. Didnt watch it all myself.

And all the Aussies and NRL media can come up with is

https://www.nrl.com/aussies-snubbed-in-league-golden-boot/tabid/10874/newsid/70565/default.aspx

Headline says it all really! Do understand what they are saying in terms of Cameron Smith but it would have been nice to have the first article all about Kevin Sinfield and his achievements then have a gripe the next day. Oh well. Congratulations to Sinfield anyway...

*Sam Burgess weighs in on the discussion with his pommie hat firmly on.

Sticking this in here rather than creating another thread.

@thereallangmack on Twitter saying that Michael Jennings to Roosters is a done deal.

Seems to be the word with a couple of the more accurate members of the Chookpen also. Mentioned most places now.

^^ Yeah even NRL gossip said it was rubbish. When a page dedicated solely to gossip doesn't even run with it, well it just sounds like total BS. Not that it matters, they'll be shit either way ;)

Yeah, you just know they'll lose 10 in a row if they beat us first round. All jokes aside, i almost enjoy Stuart for his crazy ways. Watching him justify and excuse through rants and raves is quality entertainment. I just hope he doesn't let us down this season. May the show go on!

Rugby League has today joined forces with the biggest brand in Australian motoring – Holden – for a whole-of-game partnership that will drive the Greatest Game of All into a spectacular new era.

The finalisation of a three-year partnership between the National Rugby League and Holden brings together two iconic Australian brands and will start a stunning new chapter in the biggest annual series in Australian sport – the Holden State of Origin Series.

Over the next three years, Holden will support every level of the game from grassroots communities to the most prestigious team in Australian Rugby League – the Holden Kangaroos.

As part of a partnership that encompasses all levels of the game:
• Holden will become the major sponsor of prizes for the game’s annual Monster Raffle, which has raised more than $2 million for grassroots clubs across Australia. This year Holden will donate two cars as the first two major prizes;
• The Under 20s competition will become the Holden Cup and Holden Under 20s State of Origin and will remain focused on developing not only the incredible playing talents of the players but also their off-field career education;
• State of Origin – the biggest, most breathtaking and most watched annual series in Australian sport – will become the Holden State of Origin Series;
• On the international stage, Holden will partner with the Australian Test team, with the Holden Kangaroos embarking on an exciting season that includes Canberra’s Centenary celebrations Test against New Zealand and the Rugby League World Cup starting in October in the United Kingdom, Ireland and France.

NRL Interim Chief Executive, Mr Shane Mattiske, today joined Holden Chairman and Managing Director, Mr Mike Devereux, Australian coach Tim Sheens, Holden State of Origin coaches Mal Meninga (QLD) and Laurie Daley (NSW) and Holden Kangaroos and Origin stars Paul Gallen and Robbie Farah at Rugby League Central in Sydney to announce the partnership, which is one of the most wide-reaching in the game’s history.

“This is such an exciting time for Rugby League. We have in place a strong foundation for growth and there are tremendous opportunities ahead for everyone in the game, including our corporate partners,” Mr Mattiske said.

“It’s significant that Rugby League now has two of the biggest and most respected brands in Australia, Telstra and Holden, as its two biggest corporate partners in a sponsor family that supports all levels of the game.

“The opportunity to develop strategic partnerships with people and organisations who share Rugby League’s breadth of community involvement is an important part of our vision for the game and in Holden we have a partner who embodies that commitment.

“This is a real partnership that works across the game and it is one that all fans can get behind.”

Mr Devereux said Holden and the NRL were two world-class Australian brands looking to grow together into the future.

“This sponsorship is the strongest indication yet that Holden is back, bigger and better than before, with a long-term commitment to building and selling cars in Australia and investing in Australian talent,” he said.

“Holden has committed to help Rugby League develop in local communities through fundraising opportunities for local clubs and assisting in developing NRL stars of the future through the Under 20s competition.

“The Holden Cup has a fantastic approach to preparing young players for life beyond sport – no work or study, no play.

“The Holden State of Origin is the jewel of Australian sport – an amazing game, millions of viewers, interstate rivalry and supreme athleticism.

“And I’ll be heading to one of Australia’s favourite games in one of Australia’s favourite cars, the new VF Commodore."
