If you said 12 months ago that would be the back 5 would've said you completely off your head. Last year Rd 1 was the tried and true Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, FUSITUA, MAUMALO, AITKEN, HIKU this is just a bizarre combination of players now. Rest of the team is good, but have worries about how these rookies and journeymen will go. And Dallin Watene-Zelezniak still makes some rookie decisions.
All are quick enough to push out quickly when initially compressed, which is where we struggled with guys like Ken on the wing. We can also use some width coming out of our end as those guys are quick enough and elusive enough to be a threat

Round 1, best team we can field I guess... yet still seems more like a trial team and a game short.
Never know but the dragons should be a team we can beat comfortably.. yet Im not confident enough we can, maybe the preseason warranted these selections.. anyway lets gone..

Glass Half Full here.
Chanel Harris-Tavita as a good link option and can sniff an off load.
Solid wingers.
Rookie centres who could be anything.
Shaun Johnson and Kodi a good combo.
Addin Fonua-Blake along with Haas and Lodge elite NRL props.
Bunty had a top trial and showed flair and passing skills.
Aitken Mr reliable workhorse.
I predict Katoa to be Dally M second rower of the year.
Curran well we know what he brings and he is on an upward trajectory.
Jazz the ultimate bench player.
Ben Murdoch-Masila used correctly is lethal.
Pene looked awesome in the trial.
Sironen is handy in all facets.

There is at least 20 even 30 attacking points in this team. Better defend well.
This 17 plus the reserves give us a decent enough roster of players at their peak or heading there.
Play your best boys coz someone has to make way for Walsh and Lodge nxt week.
Can’t wait for Harris to return.
Shades of 2002 maybe.

Big skillful Warriors forwards, rocks and diamonds backline, mercurial halves combo who can beat England one week and get outsmarted by Madge Maguire the next, classic Warriors lineup. Expecting the worst for this game but this team has massive potential this year, I'm getting 2010 vibes.

Dragons nickname is March premiers.

They're pretty hot most seasons in the early rounds.

Actually probably the hardest team to play when I think about it....take their early season high....our worst ever record against this club...our slow starts.

Actually no joke on paper it looks like for we are massive underdogs for this round one ambush.

But we ain't those Warriors anymore, this is a more mobile Warriors team, a bigger Warriors team and a team with some organization.

Against the Dragons the defensive work at Marker is critical, they love to take quick dummy half scoots with mobile backs to test the Lazy Warriors.

Again that was then this is now, under the new rules the Warriors are far more adaptive to dh attacks.

And we have props that chase....Lodge will be missed but.

Kotoa's defence is the only one I'm worried for. Good test for him.

The Dragons forwards and bench look a bit one dimensional but they are experienced and have some lively backs. Like you say they are the perennial hare in the time honoured hare v tortoise race. If our defence line is keen and our backs make good defensive decisions I think Shaun Johnson and Kodi can orchestra enough points to win comfortably.

I know most people saw it coming but I'm underwhelmed with Curran at #13. While he does have a good motor his strengths line on the edge. His passing to his right isn't very good & in the small sample size he's started at Lock (3 games) we average a little under 15 points on attack & concede just over 37!

You got Dallin Watene-Zelezniak that's played fullback for the kiwis but brown wants Chanel Harris-Tavita (who has only played in the halves) to play there instead. From what I've heard he didn't even play well at fullback in the trial. Brown already f*cking up team selections 🤦‍♂️
Feel like Chanel Harris-Tavita could go well at fb, takes away all the organisation of having to play in the halves, which can now be done by Shaun Johnson and done better.

Chanel Harris-Tavita can just go out and play, could be a good thing for him and i will go on record now and say he will have a good game.

Feel free to come back here amd flame me for this comment on Saturday night

Did any member receive an email from the club when the team was announced as was the case in previous years?

Our record over the last several years facing the Dragons in the early rounds is actually pretty good, one game that stands out is the 18-0 shut out with our near 100% completion rate.

Agree with you on their middles, Josh Kerr has proven hard to handle for us in the past but was playing on the right edge on those occasions, pretty decent as a big body at sucking in defenders and getting a pass away but other than him they look fairly straight up and down.
De Belin hasn’t got back to the heights he reached a few seasons ago so yeah, I don’t see too many threats coming from that department.

Yea pretty sure everyone was in this boat ay. Kodi also seemed the best at putting him in good positions. Will they be on the same edge?
I was assuming Shaun Johnson, katoa, vailea, Dallin Watene-Zelezniak on the right.
That’s quite potent- Shaun Johnson with katoa on his shoulder and vailea and Dallin Watene-Zelezniak outside him.
Dallin Watene-Zelezniak for top try scorer.
Then kodie, aitken, berry, Montoya on the left which is quite an exciting prospect too.
Theres some points there (both sides of the ball 👀 ).
