Thought Shaun's control of the boot was excellent we lost game because of errors made mostly by zelezniak and fonua Blake where was Kodi? If chanel doesn't have to put boot to ball he cemented his spot, pretty much a trial 2.0 looking deadly when we have everything together though.

The more things change the more they stay the same.

The start was the usual this is looking good before we lost momentum due to mistakes. Some real frustrating periods but they did well to get the lead before the mistakes returned.

Like the last couple of years a game we will look back that was winnable but too many mistakes.

Why am I paying so much for Sky TV to have no NZ commentary, the FOX alternative is nearly unwatchable due to Greg Alexander. Then on top of that they have 4 NZ presenters in the studio, who purposely don't criticise any individuals in the team. After a self inflicted loss we don't want the positives all the time! And Adam Blair interviewing the players couldn't be much more awkward, to the point of making me turn it off.

Rated that a C. For Clunky.

I thought there were enough glimpses there to see the style of footy we’ll be playing when Shaun is on the park and we get some ascendancy. And a couple of individuals put in good shifts.

The brainless blunder count (I expected a few) must have been up in the high teens. That was concerning to see that much sloppiness in our game.

And I thought the ref completely lost control of the ruck in 2nd half. There were a lot of rubbish stop start play the balls in both sides and it just made it really ugly to watch.

Drags walked away winners but I’d probably give them a C too.

Chanel Harris-Tavita needs to play in halves. Nikorima and Dallin Watene-Zelezniak can walk home right now. Unbefitting international players. No heart.
Vailea needs more reserve grade. Lacks nothing in effort. Looks like the kind of player who would win a close GF with a gritty defensive play or athletic dive for the line. But dang he looked out of place with his mistakes. I hope he gets another stint later in the year.

Berry. No threat on attack. Could turn out to be a solid defender and passer. But needs a hard-running or fast-running partner. Not a good balance with Vailea yet.

Montoya is a journeyman. The type that some forumers like. But in honesty, at least Ken was a threat. And would have done better against Ravalawa. Montoya will make less mistakes but he is not a force.

Will be so relieving to have Walsh back. I reckon him, Chanel Harris-Tavita and Shaun Johnson in the halves with Taylor on standby is the best combo we have currently.

Aitken. Should have played centre. He made his name in that position. He was bought for his strong running game. Briwn called him a blockbustinh centre. I think he and Pompey with Berry rotating with them was our best option.

The forwards were OK. Just rusty.

I'd have Ratuva and Kosi on wings. 2 big dudes with pace. With 2 solid enough centres in Aitken and Pompey, Walsh FB, Chanel Harris-Tavita/Shaun Johnson in halves. You got firepower to back up the forward power.

In all honesty though, we can fix this. Just need to balance the backs. Experience through the middle. Youthful attack on the edges.

K .... Piut my two cents worth in..... Thought we looked a trial game short... Still no excuses... Also thought the players I has exclamations marks on were the same ones who let us down.... Kody needs to go would rather Taylor need control not some random dude who doesn't know what to do on the last tackle.... Also as a Maori I'm sorry but Dallin Watene-Zelezniak sucks, always has to me ... Sure he captained the kiwis once but his errors are just to insurmountable.... I also thought Vailea was overwhelmed but he tried hard.... In the end it's a loss to Brown cause he didn't get what he could out of the players

Well that was disappointing...

Team looked disinterested, willing to try the all or nothing play instead of getting into the grind and that is on the coaches.

The game plan was shit, they wanted to spread the ball as much as possible but when we looked out best was when we were going through the middle.

Some players need to look real hard in the mirror, Chanel Harris-Tavita, Dallin Watene-Zelezniak come to mind straight away but it seemed like the whole team mindset was the same tonight, nobody apart from curran were willing to work.

Addin Fonua-Blake pushing passes, Dallin Watene-Zelezniak being Dallin Watene-Zelezniak, Chanel Harris-Tavita trying to be Dallin Watene-Zelezniak, it even went as far as Shaun Johnson and him not being patient, pushing that pass off the scrum, trying the cross field kick off our own line.

Vailea should be put back down the pecking order he still really raw, move aitken to center. Berry and montoya got bullied by ravalawa and lomax. I would look for ratuva for Dallin Watene-Zelezniak, though i dont think brown would have the balls to do it.

Curran was great, johnson was good but needs to understand that we dont need him to be the player he was, we need him to be the player he is now. Felt like he tried to put the team on his back a bit too much.

Nikorima was decent, his defense was ok, his passes were ok, he done a good kick. Not much to say.

Egan was good, but man does he get gassed fast. I dont think jazz is the answer at back up hooker he looked poor today, i would change his role to more of a roving prop through the middle were his spin and offload could change the pace a bit.

I think the team will look a lot better next week with the addition of walsh, although im not as optimistic as i was yesterday avout this season. The main concern for me was the attitude and the fitness, the team looked shot while sgi were still full of running.

I thought Kodi pleased extremely well. He decided he will be a role player and just be competent which he was.

In terms of who had the worst night for the warriors in terms of idiot plays there were plenty of contenders

1) Addin Fonua-Blake for crucial turnovers
2) Shaun Johnson for his hero play on tackle two kick to a marked winger.
3) Chanel Harris-Tavita for a pass to nobody that went into touch and went forward with the game in the balance

Bur my winner of the worst player award is Katoa

With the score at 0-0 we forced a goal line drop put. From their drop kick that grubbered along the ground he went for a low percentage high risk catch and knocked it on. Nek minit it was 12-0 and they had momentum.
As if that wasn't enough with the score 12-10 and 30 seconds left in the half he gave away a stupid penalty making it 14-10 going into the break,.

In terms of where to from here, the experiment of Chanel Harris-Tavita at fullback was a failure. If Walsh comes in for him that could be enough to turn the ship around next week.

I liked some of the ball work they were doing with the short passing. At times they seemed to be overdoing it.

It was heart in the mouth stuff on early tackles coming out of our own end though. Really wished they would of kept it simple inside our 20 instead of giving the ball some air cause the passes stuck during the pre season.

If you follow the side too intently riding each decision or mistake and you have a dicky heart. Dallin Watene-Zelezniak is going to give you a heart attack. That pass early on that nearly got an intercept on a kick return would of been embarrassing.

We beat ourselves, simple as that.

Clunky as fuck. Stupid errors. Lacked composure when we were up.

Dragons are very average. We saw glimpses of what we should of done if we were clicking.

We look better with Walsh and Lodge back next week. But Vailea…is too green. I can see why they feel he can be a big star in the future, but he’s too green now.

Shaun Johnson - happy to have you back uso. Kodi…wait did Kodi play?

Oh yeah that’s right - he was busy shuffling the ball on the 5th tackle and making forward passes.

Key to this game was the errors though. Fuck we just killed ourselves all game. Frustrating.

Dallin Watene-Zelezniak - horrible fucking game. Montoya - he tried hard but got owned by Ravalawa. He’s big, strong and could sniff the line. Couldn’t find an answer for him.

Curran - looking good, and fit. Katoa too - still a few silly errors though.

Thought Egan looked decent too - there was a shift in quality ball from dummyhalf when he subbed off. Otukolo might be a good bench prospect to spell him instead of Tevaga - with Jazz taking Siro’s spot.

Oh also - I’d rather listen to Chook ramble and mispronounce last names all night than hear Brandy call one of our games again. Fucken biased piece of shit. We get it - you went through a rough time in your life and career when you came over to play for us. But fuck man - any resentment you have for our club, just let it go bro.

Good chance to bounce back nek week. Plenty of film to watch.

Vailea will/might be a future star but he's nowhere near ready for first grade. That game was no better than Ed Kosi's poor games last season
He got served and I felt sorry for him
A lot of people ignoring the massive gap between an NZ baby player and a NrL edge with some attacking monsters in it.

Felt sorry for him really, he had the Ed Kosi experience.....totally unrealistic expectations.

Hell, Ravalawa was the worst Winger in the comp year one, and Berry was shithouse in his first trial.

I think we need to remember what a massive trial by fire this was for our centers.

Kodi was as expected. Fucking trash. No off-season was magically going to fix him.

Chanel Harris-Tavita was always better than him, just needed time to overcome his injuries.

I think Shaun Johnson needs Taylor more than I first thought, he looked very rusty in the game management side.

Taylor didn’t look 100% in the trial so if he’s not good to go then there is surely no doubt over Chanel Harris-Tavita going into the halves and Kodi kicked to the curb.

Dallin Watene-Zelezniak tried his hardest to lose that game by himself. I know we joke about him having low IQ but then every game he does something even more stupid than the prior game. It’s comical. Pompey or Kosi in for him on the wing next game. Our wing depth is fucked.

On the early Johnson cross field kick. It was clearly a high risk play that wasn't needed but the only mitigating factor is that Ramsey was down with cramp in the previous set, so they may have been targeting him.

For the high tackle on Montoya on the try line. Should that not have been a penalty try? If Sloane wasn't there, Montoya clearly scores..?

Curran probably had his best all round game in a Warriors jersey. Good to see him in shape and improving.

He's not the most talented athletically but he puts in a lot of effort.

I was sceptical of him playing in the middle but he had some good runs in the middle of the field.

if you had said worst moments of the game for the warriors and listed this i could see your argument but to say worst players of the night based on that reasoning i cant agree with you at all.

Addin Fonua-Blake had a mixed bag. some incredible runs and nice tackles but some dumb brain farts. Shaun Johnson played an above average game and showed he has a good kicking game. Chanel Harris-Tavita was ok. i think the incident your talking about was Dallin Watene-Zelezniak trying to offload and in fact did go forward but they called the Chanel Harris-Tavita pass forward?

i thought other than his try Dallin Watene-Zelezniak wasnt great. some really bad choices for him. kodi i truly thought was poor. Looked clueless on defense (yeah he made some decent tackles on Sua). on attack looked like he was just shovelling the ball onto the bloke next to him. a True passenger in the game.
