Just watched the game and disappointed but that word seems to be synonymous with the Warriors.

Very very rusty and some bad brain explosions which gave the possession and momentum back to the drags. Who appear to be shit as well, just happened were were worse shit than them.

Good to see Shaun Johnson back although I felt he overplayed his hand a bit, he will be much better for that run out next week. Chanel Harris-Tavita performed ok but he's gone once Walsh comes back next week and tbh I wouldn't put him in the halves at this stage. Kodi should be in his suit in the stands. I'm thinking maybe Taylor into partner Shaun Johnson and lets see what he's got.

Thought the young guys went well even if there were a couple of bad errors. I'm sure Vailea had the defence coach in his ear all week about making tackles and that's exactly what he did, just a tad early. He'll learn in reggies hopefully.

I don't really understand this predilection with playing Aitkin in the second row. He's a fucking centre Brownie. You got The Murch, Sironen and Big Ben to chose, get him back there while Vailea learns a bit more craft in seserves. Hell, Pompey made a decent fist of centre last year.

Noticeable drop off when Egan is off so I want to see Otokulu get a run and see what he can do.

Hopefully Lodge and Reece back will help the cause. Long season and a big bonus in no injuries.

Also, it is near impossible to win with a penalty count of 8- 4. That means they are looking at only one team.

Also when the score was close, and Shaun Johnson popped that forward pass that they all missed, including the bunker, I was sure that would lead to a settling in the penalty count...and it happened all right.
Not sure you are right there bruce

At the time Katoa scored (46th minute) the penalty count was 8-3 so the Dragons were only penalised once more in the last 34 minutes

Nikorima reminds me of that employee that can do everything but can’t be fucked anymore, the one you are just happy that he doesn’t fuck things up when he goes to work and you get a days work from him without anything major going wrong. Chanel Harris-Tavita to the halves and Reece to FB, bye bye Kodi.
I would actually think Taylor should be picked this week, drop Chanel Harris-Tavita, Ben Murdoch-Masila, Nikorima, Sironen.

Walsh at the back, Taylor in the halves, jazz over nikorima in 14, Otukinekina Kepu bench spot over sironen?

Just managed to catch up on the game.

Too many penalties, silly errors forcing passes and some odd plays that back fired, WTF was that kick to Vailea before Ravawalas final try?! Some combinations looked rusty, Nikorima looked asleep at the wheel and Dallin Watene-Zelezniak + Montoya had poor games letting in tries and giving 1 or 2 away.

I think there was enough on show from most players to see the potential in most of this line up. Great to have a long kicking game with Shaun Johnson there, after giving up on the part of our game for the past 3 years. You can see Katoa and Shaun Johnson are going to be dangerous when the gel.

Curran in the roaming 13 role was outstanding. Addin Fonua-Blake was massive, but a couple terrible plays taking the shine of his performance. The young centres were OK against a very good pairing of Suli and Lomax, but plenty to improve on.

It was disappointing to see us playing some dumb football, rather than trying to arm wrestle when we clearly weren't clicking.

Sorry Wrighty but I couldn't disagree more on Katoa.

Sure the mistake at 0-0 with the bounce was poor but higher profile players have done worse I mean Ben Hunt did all the hard work only to drop the lollies in front of his posts. Sometimes shit happens. Lucky for them we didn't capitalise while they did.

As for the penalty that was pretty marginal in fact it could almost have gone his way. Personally, I thought he looked quite damaging running of Shaun Johnson and I look forward to seeing that develop further.
Hi Otto

I think all of the posters on this web site are Men in every sense of the word. I like how all you blokes when you disagree just say "I disagree and here are my three reasons why". Most other sports forums don't have mature conversations like this and I acknowledge all of your counter points. Someone else who disagreed with me said that while he made the worst play of the game that in no way was Katoa the worst player of the game and I wish I had positioned my post in that manner as it would be a more accurate point.

9. Terrible line drop out from SGI and ball goes bouncying around like crazy. Rather than using his feet or body to stop the ball, Katoa tries to catch it only to drop it stone cold. Opportunity to attack lost. SGI ball.
This was the turning point of the match for our loss and in a worst case scenario possibly our season. At this moment when Katoa stuffed up Shaun Johnson realised that his modus operandi game management tactics he deployed at the sharks ie using continuous forced line drop outs to apply continuous pressure to the opposition until the flood gates opened later in the game wasn't going to work at the warriors.
When he saw Katoa bobble and even attempt to catch that grubber kick rather than trap it with his body or step completely out of its way and let someone else defuse it, he realised that forcing repeat sets with be difficult with a team of muppets oh excuse me "developing" team mates like the Warriors so he abandoned that style of water torture on the Dragons for the rest of the match and went to a plan B which was more cavalier mixture of 40 20s and hero plays to win the game by himself as he knew he couldn't trust anybody else.
That play by Katoa was the turning point of the match and possibly our season, But I hope not. I hope that Brown saw what I saw and takes Shaun Johnson for a long cup of coffee and talks through the match and asks him to have faith in the team.

If you've ever run a business and interviewed people for senior roles, you'd know those characters you meet along the way who speak eloquently, say all the right things, and present well, but when you give them the job, they're absolutely useless. Brownie says most of the right things and seems to know exactly what this club needs to achieve consistent success, but he's incapable of actually implementing it. It was the same story at the Knights.

He's a very affable fella. I know that personally as I used to ghostwrite columns for him a decade or so back. However, he's clearly not effective at translating his ideas into reality. That performance yesterday had all the hallmarks of a typical Warriors early-season capitulation: good energy initially that tailspins into confusion, desperation, and exhaustion as the match went on. By the 60th minute mark, I started fast-forwarding through the game as it just felt inevitable that the fold was in process.

Some of Brownie's selections are mystifying. Aitken shouldn't be in the back row. The centres and wingers he selects are devoid of attacking potential. And why he keeps picking Kodi is beyond me. For whatever reason, he's disinterested at the Warriors, and he looks gunshy with the ball. Perhaps being so small in such a brutal sport has caught up with him.

The Warriors of yesterday don't look well-coached. Again. They look like they're trying to implement Brownie's more 'positive' game plan but don't have the skills and experience to pull it off. I get that he's pushing a local junior first approach. It's bearing fruits at Newcastle, a couple of years after his departure. And it may do over time with the Warriors. But the juniors he's blooding just aren't that good. Not yet, at least.

Perhaps the next generation in the Warrior's system are superstars in the making. TheCool would know better than me. But players like Chanel Harris-Tavita, Berry, and Katoa still seem pretty average at this stage of their development.

All the superlatives of the off-season are meaningless. Yesterday was a reminder that we're still under-prepared to compete consistently for 80 minutes each week.

Kristian Woolf for coach next year?
Why?

Also looking at Mohawks management selections so far you would think he would have a decent coach on the way.

Let us be honest he isn't going to get a Bennett or Bellyache, so he is going to have to find anther unheard of like Daniel Anderson.

You would think Gould will help him, surely. Sure he will take first pick for the Dogs, but he should be able to find one for us.

Because I’m just a fan and when a post like #robbiemears who has first hand knowledge of Nathan Brown I have to take notice. I really hope he can have success as I really like Brown and would like for no one more to prove people wrong but if next the next couple of weeks are poor performances, I will be a bit concerned. I only say Woolf because with one of your leaders Addin Fonua-Blake and the Tongan connection I wonder if there could be benefits in that.
