General NRL 2022 Round 20 - General Discussion

How good was the race to gather the ball by Papalii!

Such desperation towards the end of a half despite being up by so much. How to capture that and instill it into this team. We look like such plodders in comparison.
I had the exact same thoughts when I saw that play. Guts, determination, intensity...all things we unfortunately lack.

Loved seeing Nathan Cleary getting marched - absolutely dislike that guy - He is a dirty player and for ages gets away with crap because of who he is. So was happy to see him sent off. My only disappointment was the Eels players tapping Cleary on the back and everyone rushing in to calm the situation down. I would have preferred the Eels players to knock Cleary's head off with some vicious blows. Well that's what normally happens. The tameness of it was a let down

Interesting comment. He deserved to be marched for his mistimed tackle definitely and he knew and accepted it. If anything he's actually one of the nice guys of the NRL and has been smashed late multiple times by players putting kick pressure on him, so has been on the receiving end more than his fair share. A deliberate dirty act could be described as the one we saw from a certain Rooster the other night.

Cleary gone for 5 weeks right up to the finals. Luai also out for a month.

Is the curtains for the Panthers premiership hopes? Or are they to good?

Yes, they will be back for the finals but combinations and match fitness will be down right when they need to peak. Could they get caught short early in the finals?

He’s done awful tackles before in the finals and wasn’t charged because of who he is…

- Nasty one in the preliminary final against the Storm last year and ‘miraculously’ gets to play in the final

- Round 6, a really dangerous tackle against the Broncos - just a fine…

The Panthers and the Storm get some special treatment that the ‘average’ teams simply don’t get.

So I took a drive through Redcliffe today, just for curiosity as I had a few hours to kill, and (no offence to anyone from there), but FMD I’d be disappointed if we were ever to get the spoon in the next week while.

With a catchment of (mainly rugby) players in NZ, we should be able to field a team that makes the 8 more seasons than not

Crazy that we have been cellar dwellers for such a long time
