General NRL 2022 Round 19 - General Discussion

Standing aside whether or not there was an opportunity to challenge in my view the call by the bunker was a correct call.

The Tiger catcher took the ball on the line running parallel with the sideline which was the direction Feldt was running I.e he was running directly down field. the Tiger defender started from the sideline and ran a line diagonal across the field into the path of Feldt. ( a classic escort)

Will be interesting to hear what Annesley says tomorrow as I agree with others comments above that there was no opportunity for the Cows to challenge anything as the ref had made no decision other than it was game over which I would have thought was unchallengeable

Yeh he started by running towards the other touch line then diagonal to cut off feldt. Even tho he did milk the shit out of it. It’s a penalty. The issues are, the ref calls stoppage once it’s been 1:30 from when they score before they kick for goal. Secondly, unsure how the cows can challenge something the ref didn’t make a call on. Refs error, bunker Wernt the bad guys

Have just watched the Tigers press conference and their stand-in coach Ben Gardiner was very measured in his comments regarding the final decision and really brushed it off as being a moment of “deflation” after the elation of scoring the go in front try.

He is a very impressive individual and highlights to me how many good thinkers of the game are in clubs waiting for a head coach gig

Yeah, this is what has me confused.

I thought the ref had to make a call before you can challenge? And I didn’t hear the whistle blow or the ref calling anything…. I think the ref and the bunker both had brain farts

Tigers should have won that game

Stopping the clock with one second on it is dubious. There should have been no restart in the first place. Tigers win!
The game is such a mess right now!
I really hope they can reset the NRL and get rid of the terds that are ruining it!

Was listening to an Australian true crime podcast and it was quite shocking how many players in the 60s/70s came up with connections to organised crime(alledgedly) wouldn’t surprise me and would explain a few things if that element still had some influence in and around the game

The country does not seem to be able to shake it's convict past thats for sure.

Also didn’t Payten say earlier in the year when he had a moan that top sides always get the favourable calls? I think this clusterfuck proved him to be correct
Yip that’s called the “Ricky stuart special “
Blow up in the media about all the shit calls u get then watch your team get all the calls go their way for the next couple of months…
We should try it sometime 😈

This will be interesting. If they mount a legal challenge and win, then maybe we can appeal our two points stupidly docked from our inaugural season and have our finals berth restored.

How so brother?

He has every right to be fuming and should have been fuming at the presser. He needed to go Geoff Toovey, Tricky Ricky next level shit.

He represents the players, fans and club. To rub it off like it was no big deal sets the precedent for more of this nonsense happening in the future.

It takes more courage and balls to speak out. Fight the injustice?!! There needs to be an investigation! Throw a chair, drop the mic and walk out the presser.

If players are asked to go out there like it’s war and play for the club like their lives depended on it. Then you expect the same from your coach when this nonsense happens.

I feel about this the same way I do about the Melbourne Storm and the tactics they've introduced to the game.

Is it Kyle's/the Storm's job to win? Yes.

Is it wrong for Kyle/the Storm to do what they do because "It's not in the spirit of the game"? Obviously, that's a very grey area defining what's "in the spirit of the game." I don't think what Kyle did - much as I was going for the Cowboys - and what the Storm do is so yes, they're wrong. But that's not their problem. It's for the NRL to explicitly rule that certain tactics are not allowed.

Technology is killing this game! You wait till they bring in the forward pass Technology!!! Just fucken the dumbest shit!!

If found to be wrong they should be stood down and if a ref is a repeat offender then the penalty should be longer and no pay.

Refs should not be a protected species.
Didn't the official that awarded us a penalty for the Matt lodge high tackle I think it was get stood down. So fuken obvious certain teams get better treatment by the NRL.

Not sure which part of my comment you are debating but assume it was the fact that he didn't make the big issue of it.

Given that the Tigers were already on the phone to V'landys and Abdo he didn't need to & the reality is that the incident didn't need to be highlighted by him as the media both public and social were already all over it much I suggest to the NRL's embarassment.

If you are debating whether he came across as impressive then that remains my opinion and on that peformance I wouldn't object to him being in the Warriors coaching system
