I don’t care if he’s bringing the game into disrepute, I just want to know where he gets off making those comments at all.,

Ref made the right call at the end of the Dragons v Raiders game.

The double effort on Tapine could only be a set restart and Hunt's tackle on Starling couldn't be penalized because it's been proven he was square at marker and didn't break any rule.

Raiders fans blowing up over nothing.

Wait, did Robinson not get fined? For real? He called the ref’s performance not good enough and while this is true every game every round, how is that ok?
He'll get another warning about a warning about a warning, I can't keep track how many "warnings" he's had. If he was on the field he'd have got 10 in the bin by now.

Not according to Annesley in his briefing today - it should have been a penalty for Hunt’s flop in the tackle

Well that's incorrect then.

It was one of the concerns specifically raised in the press conference when the stupid rule was first introduced back in 2020.

I can't find an exact report from back then, but it was along the lines of "What will stop a team from deliberately giving away six agains if they're up by 2pts with no time left?"

And the response was something along the lines of it being at the referees discretion to award a penalty instead of a six again if the situation warranted it.

When a team is down by 2pts and there's about 5 seconds left in the game I'm pretty fucking sure they would prefer to get a penalty and take a shot at goal.

Hell if a team is down by 2pts and there's 10 minutes left in the game I reckon they'd want a penalty instead of 14 six agains on zero tackle.

What's stopping players from knocking on every 6 again for a penalty? I hope teams abuse it, we need to make a mockery of 6 again if it's any chance of going.

You have to be careful where you knock on though.

If you get a six again for say markers not square, but then decide to knock it on, then you're into the next play and the six again advantage is gone so you've just dropped it on tackle zero.

I think it happened this round where a team was awarded a six again and then stuffed up the play the ball and the advantage was gone.

They have the discretion to blow a penalty if it falls under professional foul, which that doesn't. Tapine doesn't help his situation by trying to milk it.

Then the tackle from Hunt afterwards, can't blow a penalty for a legal tackle.

Nope... they have discretion to call a penalty whenever they want... It's a myth that any time they call a penalty it has to be a professional foul, that was just a fuck up from the very first press conference when they were answering the questions about teams giving away constant and/or deliberate six agains to avoid penalties, etc.

Whoever it was said something along the lines of "if a team is deliberately giving away six agains the referee can still call a penalty and if deemed necessary they can also sin bin the player for a professional foul"... the media took that as any time a penalty is called for repeat offences then it has to be a sin bin and that's basically the only interpretation the ref have run with.

Article below is from back in 2020 in regards to the rules when they were brought in:

Regardless Bhunt gave away at least two professional fouls in the one tackle; first was the initial flop on Tapine well after the tackle was completed and second was the second effort in the ruck in an attempt to slow the play down... I'd say he also wasn't square at marker, which is another blatant professional foul... so that's 3 professional fouls in 1-2 tackles. Apparently they were also offside on the play where Tapine received it, so that's 4 professional fouls in 1-2 tackles.

Annersley indicated that a penalty should've been awarded and Bhunt could have been binned for a professional foul.

Fucksakes, you hear Trent Robinson absolutely giving it to the Refs….

We have the worst run of the green in the history of the game of Rugby League.
Braith Anasta trying to get us feel sorry for the Roosters…..

Nathan Brown and all the past coaches have been too bloody passive, give it to the refs, take the fine on the chin and make it publicly known that they fuck us weekly.

Even Kenty has come out constantly saying we have the bad run of the green.

Queensland's only(?) six-again in Origin 2, Harry Grant knocked on in the play the ball.

They have shown already that if a player gives away a blatant penalty near the end of the game then it is a professional foul for a penalty and the player is binned. TPJ did it last year or the year before... he may have already done it twice by now.

Annersley indicated that a penalty should've been awarded and Bhunt could have been binned for a professional foul.

As Sticky said, they were essentially issued an apology.

how's this, the video ref in yesterdays Tigers v Warriors game is married to a consultant employed by the Tigers. How is that ok?

because the word "impartial" doesn't appear in the NRL's dictionary.

hell, they used to use Luke Patten in the bunker to officiate Bulldogs games

It was far worse than that, he specifically said it was because it was the Roosters. How he's not fined we can only wonder. (er..maybe because its the Roosters?)

From about 3m35s ... "it wasn't a good enough performance, you still should be in a position, it's not going to happen in Roosters colours, that's not bias that's a fact, that you're not going to get those opportunities..."

The NRL is an absolute joke. Everyone was fine with Perenara reffing us against NZ. Everyone was fine with the Broncos getting pumped after the addition of the 6-again. Now other teams are finally waking up to how it can be fully abused by the NRL to essentially conjure up a result.

Oh, but it's human error. Fine, maybe, but when it keeps happening and it keeps certain teams up the top and it keeps being justified, at some point in time it has to be scrutinised more thoroughly.

V'landys is a bookie. It's that bloody simple.

Apparently this is why RCG has been dropped with no look back in, seems you don’t mock king Cleary.

But he kept the game afloat when apparently no one else could (despite just about every other comp in the world doing the same thing basically), so he is just a living saint.
