Sink or swim time? Are we being serious? It’s his 2nd first grade game for god sake. this forum can be a obnoxiously ridiculous sometimes. Far out.

Chill bro. He is a junior with a heap of expectation of him and is arguably being rushed before ready. Sink or swim is in regard to being FG ready or not, and many blokes get found out defensively in their first moments in first grade, let alone a small, at this point physically under-developed, half with big arse 2nd rowers running at them. He is obviously ready in many areas, but others are unknown because he is so young.

There is no running down of Walsh in my statement whatsover, more a hope that he can handle the rigours of defending in the line and that Brown gets him ready for FG in a gentle way.

We need to temper our expectation, for his sake as much as anything. More than likely he will find the demands of the next few weeks tough, and he needs to be managed through that.

But yes, sink or swim. Putting a rookie out there is a leap of faith. They will either handle it or need more development. Sink or swim in this instance is not a long-term, definitive comment.

In case it is being missed in translation, I think Walsh is pretty fucking amazing. I won't be one of the ones with the pitchfork out if he misses a dozen tackles.

Just to cheer everyone up the ref is Chris Butler who last ref'd as in our loss to Manly

He has ref'd us 12 times for 4 wins & 8 losses

In those games he has penalised us 43 times while giving us 37.5 penalties [where there were 2 refs any penalty is only recorded as .5 against each ref]

He has ref's the Cowboys 5 times for 4 wins & 1 loss with the penalty count being 20 for and14.5 against

You could tell Berry had absolutely no confidence in Nikorima making the right read. Looked like Berry was constantly trying to mark two players. Not what you want when you're on debut.
NOBODY has confidence in Nikorima being able to make the right read.
Hopefully Berry will be happier on his more favoured left hand side.

Well said bro

That is where the coach has to have a plan.

I remember way back in 1995 when they put Stacey in against an unheard of Gorden Tallis. They sure knew who Tallis was after that.

they are going to smash our new toy until there is nothing left in him on attack

Brown better have him well protected on defence or slide him out to the wing

Last thing I want is to see him wasting his mojo tackling big units all night

this is why he’s better hiding away at FB.....

Todd isn't much of a game plan coach so personally I am not worried.

Thanks for rekindling the nightmare that was G Tallis on that Sunday arvo at Erricson. I can still distinctly remember him breaking our line,40 out from their line in the early mins of the 2nd half. Blew the game open and that was all she wrote...... Shudders!!

Opposing Coaches will be studying Walsh and figuring out weakness to exploit and strengths to defend against. Todd will be this week as well. Still better looking backline this week yet my opinion of Kodi and the prop wings hasn't changed. Just got to grin and bear it I suppose.. still should roll the cows though..

I know it was only one tackle, but Tom Eisenhuth ran straight at Berry on the weekend and Berry picked him up and dumped him like he was nothing. I don't think his defence is the problem it was the players inside him.
I understand some want to pump him up to be the next best thing. Hope he goes well.
New kid on the block and it was his more experienced team mates fault ? Lol.
From what i saw, I don't buy any of that shit. Hes raw, First game of first grade. He was lost out there for a while. And i don't blame him.
