General NRL 2021 Round 4 - General Discussion

Hahahaha oh dear.. Patrick....

terrible pass to be fair..

Good show tonight. Think it confirms on current form Canberra are just outside the top 4. They’re solid but lack a bit of steel and polish. Tits shouldn’t be too down trodden either it wasn’t a blowout and they commited plenty of errors crucially at #6 and #7...

Going to be an interesting game. Will the raiders have recovered from last week with a number of their players playing longer minutes than usual and are the titans good enough to take advantage. I picked a 13+ raiders win but could be anything
Pretty close 😉

Raiders looked tired but composed and defensively strong. Titans were very good but errors at crucial times and looked a bit directionless at the back end of the game. They'll put a few teams away this season though I think.

Easily best game of the round so far

Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad probably my man of the match

Probably doesn't help that their number 7 wasn't on the field.

Tits will be kicking themselves, they needed to do what the Warriors did, hold the ball. Give Canberra too much ball and you are dead.

Still losing spine players in the middle of a match will end any team. Hard done by there.

Canberra are a team that seem to play to their opposition + 5-10%.

Watch them come up to the challenge next week vs the Panthers, it will be a close contest.

Titans are a threat to our position this year as potential top 8- only room for one of us I think. So happy they lost. This was their big test after beating up midgets last two weeks against a crippled top 4 team (thanks to us). They'll be disappointed.

On another note I actually think that for all the talk about the blowouts, in our case the new direction the game is taking has had an equalising effect. Increased injuries have given us a chance this week to potentially get both top 4 teams (Raiders and Roosters). IMO we would have lost both games under normal circumstances given our developing phase right now.

Wow have we dodged a bullet in Peyton or are the cowboys without a 1/4 of their salary cap that shite?
Don't forget this is the exact same roster that got their last coach fired and he's the one that signed them! Until Peyton assembles his own team he'll continue to struggle with someone else's...

Funny thing is, he has been playing bloody well since leaving...says a lot...
Being allowed to play his natural ball playing skills. Same as Isaiah Papali'i. Both had phenomenal hands as juniors only to have those skills cuffed in first grade. Katoa looks like he's getting the same treatment. He's quiet this season compared to last year...

I think Katoa will be fine. He bust onto the scene off the shoulder of Kodi's slight of hand, which we all know is quality when he decides to turns it on. He's started the year outside a busted Chanel Harris-Tavita and one game with SOS, he just needs time and consistency to strike up a combo.

It's not like they were a high performing group of players last season. If you have players already who don't seem to want to play for a contract what does that tell you about the quality of the squad? They need a big rebuild. That's not necessarily a reflection on Todd's coaching ability considering he has not had the time to shape the squad
Todd looks like he's carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders. Man needs to lighten up so his players can express themselves. Dropping players, calling out your Marquee player won't bring consistent performance.

personally I think Mt W is right

they’re turning him into a Simon Mannering 2.0 - he’s lost considerable weight and size to match

I prefer the natural flair he was showing last year and the pure brute strength he had breaking tackles and players in half

I hardly recognise him this season. Papalii had that exact same problem. Came bursting onto the scene in the first season then slowly deteriorated. Now at parra and just killing it...

The whole team has been cuffed to start the season, it's not just Eli. That has been the game plan, and Brown has even stated so. It's only been 3 games, I think we could probably wait a bit to call him the next Papali'i.

2nd year syndrome is also a real thing in the NRL, it's not unusual for kids to burst onto the scene then hit a low patch the next season. Coaches get a full off season to comb over tape, and figure out better defensive patterns around marking you. The good players re-invent themselves and find a way to overcome that. I think we'll see Eli do that, he doesn't strike me as the run of the mill Warriors junior type.

I think people are being hard on todd- the cows roster is just horrendous. He would have flourished with our squad this year- he gave our squad the perfect balance between our natural offloading game and attacking structure. The cows need to give TP a decent run to develop the squad like brown at the Knights. TP showed with us he can do some good with a decent roster. Hence why I think that in the long run TP will be a plus there.

I have to say, that’s a decent crowd ...
