Kind of irrelevant to this thread, but also kind of not:

I feel bad for Murchie. I was pretty upset he'd been left out last week, but with how monsterous our pack looked, I'm not sure there is a place for him in the team this year. I do remember seeing somebody say 'Don't bank on Jazz being here in 2022. Siro is a replacement for him and not Tohu Harris' though, so maybe he will just have to bide his time and wait for an injury (inevitable tbh) or next year.

I know Jazz has his fans, but I LOVE the look of a pack where Siro is buzzing around instead. We also don't need his 'intimidation factor' with Addin Fonua-Blake in the team now.

Anyway, more than happy with the team. I would have gone with Hayze personally, but Pompey started to develop nicely last year. Aitken going down is obviously not ideal, but it does give us a chance to see what our CTR options are should Hiku leave for the Cowboys after this year as some have speculated.

Another week another opponent with a boosted forward pack to test ours.

What is not to like?

Sterlo rated our win over the Tits for being a Nathan Brown template win. Sterlo was impressed with the way the Warriors played the most direct game in the NRL.

I think that the secret to the new rules is to have a lot of big forwards and to hold the ball.

I think that ensures you will break the other pack all day and every day under the new high speed rules.

Keep it simple Warriors, high completion rate off boring go through the middle direct hevy contact, use what you are good at, and hurt the opposition old school.

Think about it guys, if you have a monster heavy pack...and they turn over possesion, what is the outcome? a thrashing. Simple really, hold the ball and run them to death.

I'm still puzzled and annoyed by that signing. He's so shit that any experience he'd give us over blooding a junior is completely negated.

(Also is anybody else getting the annoying ass word count thing in the bottom right when making a post? it don't think I have any extensions in Chrome that would be triggering it. It blocks a bunch of characters at the end of the last line and it's so frustrating)
Yes I am having real trouble typing with the word count blocking my vision, I have to type and make errors then fix them after the post, I am firefox and it is a Linux version so it is not you. Montoya will be there for injury cover.

Thank f@k you mentioned it! I thought my phone was playing tricks on me? My spellings shit at the best of times so obscuring the last word too is a nutmeg nightmare!

The best packs in the NRL are made up of different body shapes, it keeps defences on their toes due to the difference in running/playing styles being thrown at them.

Long minute Jazz with a small pack around him as we saw the last 2 years is not ideal. Limited minutes Jazz where the platform is already set by the bigger forwards is quality in my eyes. He leads the D line, is very good at getting in behind the ruck after a solid run, and can provide an offload. Add in his ability to play hooker at a pinch if Egan goes down, it makes him an automatic lock in at 14 currently.

Our pack in 2021 is quality, which means Jazz shouldn't have to work so hard and for so long. I think we will see the best of Jazz this season, and hopefully the lightened workload will cut out that frustrating error/penalty.
