Murchie had a strong first half but was horrific in the 2nd half. Don't mind which one he replaces but he is ahead of both at the moment imo
Murch will be better for the run, hasn't played consistent minutes in awhile, and played 60 odd straight(from memory) off the bat.

He has had issues with consistency, but I put that 2nd half more down to fatigue. Think if they start as named his minutes will be better managed.

Yeah, it was those sin binnings that mucked things up a bit with the second half interchange.

I thought Murdock- Masila was worse. Tackling was soft - particularly for that last try. Seemed to me to lack condition.
I think he's conditioned but just doesn't have the motor for big minutes, I like him starting and finishing games.

They do need to do something about prop. And I don't think waiting exclusively for Addin Fonua-Blake is the answer. Someone on this site suggested, yes read it while was in lurk mode, that Ben Murdoch-Masila play prop and got talked down because Ben Murdoch-Masila's optimal position for him is the edge.
No doubt that is true and also true that he has played a limited number of games at prop. However think we have enough depth at second row already between Murchie/Katoa/Sironen/Curran.

Might be worth an experiment of Ben Murdoch-Masila playing prop. Maybe in a game where we are likely to not win anyway against Panthers or Storm etc. That way there is nothing to lose.

Just a left field thought for the mixer.

Other options are Frei for a run as mentioned above or someone else from the squad. Ale out with an ankle injury at the moment apparently. Maybe he would be playing this weekend if he were available.

Hello lads, nice to be back, thanks for letting me rejoin Tajhay/Admin :) :) :)

Murchie needs to ban the offload for a while.

He turns over ball. Now in a Warriors team that is not entirely his fault, as we have players who are not thinking, they are not live for an offload.

But the guys who have established themselves as offloaders, tend to stand for an age then pop a ball, this is Addin Fonua-Blake and Ben Murdoch-Masila I am talking about, they are really strong on their feet and often times looking at the person they are offloading too.

Jazz and Murchie on the other hand, are no look offloaders.

You can maybe get away with one of those, but not two.

Murchie won a lot of cool points by chasing up in support on Roger and running in a try that looked faster than Ken.

Watching the replay the try Montoya scores where he bowls his marker was awesome, he really smashed him out of the way.

A string to Montoya's bow that I did not know he had.

Katoa had a terrible game, in a way I am glad he is getting another chance. He cannot afford to play stupid, we all know he is good when he plays the basics.

If I were him I would be hitting holes and running lots of decoys.

Ben Murdoch-Masila as a prop is a no go for me. He is one of the top try scoring forwards in the NRL.

Teams pay big money for that. The others need to up their game....Jamayne Tounua-Brown is on the clock imo....if we get rid of anyone, he is at the top of the list.

Cowboys vs warriors Team Lists (No Taumalolo)

1 Val Holmes 1 Reece Walsh
2 Kyle Feldt 2 Montoya
3 Javid Bowen 3 Pompey
4 Tabuai Fidow 4 Euan Aitken
5 Tualagi 5 Roger Tuivasa-Sheck
6 Drinkwater 6 Kodi
7 Clifford 7 Chanel Harris-Tavita

8 Gilbert 8 Jamayne Tounua-Brown
9 Robson 9 Egan
10 Mcleam 10 Evans

11 Shane Wright 11 Murchie
12 Mitchell Dunn 12 Katoa
13 Coen Hess 13 Harris

14 Jake Granville 14 Tevaga
15 Peter Hola 15 LAM
16 Jensen 16 Afoa
17 Luki 17 Ben Murdoch-Masila

Wrighty's team comparison

Fullback. Incredibly despite how great Val Holmes is will call this to advantage warriors despite Reece Walsh having only 5 games under his belt. WARRIORS
Wings Kyle Feldt must be in the top 5 wings in the league in terms of consistency. Will call this a Tie as we have Roger Tuivasa-Sheck. TIE
Centres - they have Tabuai Fidow, but I like Euan Aitken. Pompey has been a bit off the boil last two games compared to his earlier outings this season. Give this to cowboys by a nose. COWBOYS.
Halves - They have Drinkwater who is one my favourite players, however, Clifford is not great in my books. Will give this to Drinkwater factor however noted that the Warriors halves are clicking well. COWBOYS
Props - Both teams have pretty weak, by NRL standards starting props, Jamayne Tounua-Brown being the worst of the starting four listed. He ran for a whopping nine metres in total last week. Therefore Peytons team gets the nod. COWBOYS
2nd Row - Our young bucks Murchie and Katoa get the nod here - WARRIORS
Lock - Coen Hess was a pay cheque player last year and at the beginning of this year. Shied away from heavy contact and went through the motions. I think the coach has spoken to him as he has perked up a notch or two in recent weeks. However give this to Tohu Harris Harris who last week ran for 157 metres. WARRIORS
Hooker - Egan is figuring out the rhythm of the NRL. And looking really good, WARRIORS

Bench

Give a triple advantage to Warriors for the bench. Jake Granville has been poor and a real liability this year. The defensive structure dissapears when he comes on. Should retire. LAM and Ben Murdoch-Masila also are advantages on the bench. WARRIORS times 3

Overall Warriors 7 Cowboys 3

This game will be close in the first 20 and warriors to assert themselves as the bench begins to get involved for both sides.

At least that is how it plays out on paper IMHO.

Please note don't take this analysis seriously, just my view for conversation and reading material as we get ready for and look forward to the game.

Cheers

I think when you consider Ben Murdoch-Masila to prop you have to ask yourself is anyone else better on an edge than him? For me that is a no at the moment (although I loved 2018 Harris there).

So really you are weakening 1 position to improve another. We have competition for props and Kane being dropped and the limited minutes they are getting will make some pick up their game. Some might not but then they are the ones you don't want

Very true. I'd like Bunty to really step up. Brown needs to give him more mins, and he needs to become a more dominant.

These rule changes could be a blessing for our younger guys.
Whoever ever can adapt faster will rule the comp. So for tackling, whoever can level guys hitting between the hip and the upper ribs will be given leeway from the refs.

Blokes like Jazz are good at this, and if Bunty and Katoa can adapt. 🔥🔥

On NRL.com 11 Kents are tipping cowboys and 5 tipping warriors.
Surprisingly Soward who has been spruiking us all year and listed us higher than the cowboys, iirc, in his power rankings has plugged for the cows too.

However the guys at sportsbet have us at $1.77 and cows at $2.05 FWIW
