I really hope we don't lose Jazz in the second row backlog. His energy and offload is so valuable I think we will miss it more than what people think. You can train stupid errors out of a game but I don't believe you can train that fire and intensity

Interesting in the CG interview with Brown, he said that Evans was fit but “not concidered for selection” due to a pretty poor preseason where he couldn’t train properly due to carrying some niggley knee injury. So while he appears over the niggle he needs more training and game time.

Probably says more about the standards set by the coaching staff of what’s required of the current group of players. I think in years gone by we would have rushed him into the starting lineup or bench at least, being a high profile signing?

He’ll have to earn a spot from here on in. Good luck to him and great to have competition for spots.

Cracking line up, wouldn’t change a thing. Gotta give it to management, we’ve fixed a lot of problems in this Team in as little as 12mths.

It’s incredibly rare to be fully excited about the team selection, let alone surprised with a line up that excites me more than my selections. All 21 players have my complete support - no sighs this week!

Compare this line up to the first game a year ago, streets ahead. Credit for the improved roster. Now, perform!

What impresses me about the naming is the players who didn’t make the team. Evans, Murchie, Pompey, Perham, Turner, etc were all talked about as potentially in people’s 17.

Depth has consistently troubled us over the years with the inevitable injuries. We have built a squad with quality depth players.

I wont be surprised to see changes in the starting 13 before kickoff.Hope not but a couple have been given the week to get over niggles

I’m a big fan of all the recruits and we clearly have a superior side to last year. However I think the difference between us being contenders (top 6) and just making up the numbers will almost entirely come down to whether Chanel Harris-Tavita can take a significant step forward this season. If his end to last season can be the launching pad to him having a blinder in 2021, then there’s definitely hope. However we won’t be playing too many disinterested final round Manly sides etc, so at this stage I’m not super confident.
If Chanel Harris-Tavita doesn’t take it to another level then I think there could be quite a bit of disappointment on this forum.

Im with you Mr B. Pretty obvious our weakness is 6,7,9 Especially cover However if these guys can leverage off the big pack who knows .Fingers crossed

I think a reduced role will suit him. He will be able to come on for 20 mins at lock and 20 mins at hooker (for example) and go hell for leather. He'll still be able to lead the defensive line and up the energy. Not having to play 60+ mins might leave him fresh enough to reduce the brain farts
