I would be concerned with Lawton marking up against that Stephen Crichton kid. He is a lively character.
They've got Whare and Crichton dude. So I think the Warriors game plan is just to shut those two down and not worry about Offence from our centres.

I wonder if Herbert might have gone Centre and some other dude on the wing.

Also how much of a utility is Curran,

Can he go in the backs if Beale or someone breaks down?

Found this quote while researching how much at centre Lawton has played

"Lawton played in the halves and hooker in the Titans under-20s in 2014-15 but after a late start to the season after a pelvic injury, he has played in the centres for Tweed Head Seagulls in the Intrust Super Cup in the past four rounds. "

Lawton reminds me a lot of Lewis Brown. Was signed as a back up dummy half but ended up playing as a edge backrower or centre. Lawton's dummy half skills really aren't that great but he is a surprisingly strong runner for his size.
Lawton is 6 foot one. 93kgs.
At 24 years old his best days are in front of him and he is young enough to change his focus position if he wanted to. However with Hiku, Beale, and even Fusitua ranked ahead of him in the centres he would really need to shine there Friday to climb the pecking order.

Hope the Aussie journalists talking about a shit dragons team rather than giving the Warriors any credit gives them added motivation. The dragons ran for more metres than they have since 2009, they bombed an early try and fell apart like we usually would. Even against the worst team, a perfect completion of sets until 75 minutes is pretty impressive.
I am concerned about the lack of attack they are showing but heartened to see Roger Tuivasa-Sheck gutted with himself after dropping a perfectly weighted kick by the try line, though he earned a penalty. Think it shows they are practising things and that's an option I would be going to with Fusitua back next week and a tall Maumalo on the wing. It's a fine line though as getting it wrong can mean a seven tackle set.
Not opposed to Lawton at centre if that's what they go with. Good defender and anther dummy half option on the field. SKs track record of changing the team later in the week would say perhaps not the run on team though.

Actually think we're a chance here.

Kikau's my biggest worry. Whoever's minding Green has their work cut out.

Then again they may swap Kikau over to get him at Nikorima.

Lovin the big angry bench.....bout fecken time Kearney.
Bush Warrior will be making 50 plus covering Green. Kikau is almost specialist left, be surprised if they moved him.

Not sure what Curran's versatility is, but at a pinch Harris is capable of slotting into the centres in case of injury in the backline. That would also allow Lawton to provide cover at Hooker should Egan go down, or Harris to five-eighth and Nikorima to hooker. Certainly not what you'd want to see, but at least some options for those scenarios.

Have two cricket stories and then will make my related point about Friday's game.

In cricket some dudes aren't very good technically but if you drop them early they can gain in confidence and start to play quite well. We call them confidence players. No team tries to acquire confidence players. You want technically sound guys who play with determination and not only when there is a fair wind.

Other dudes in cricket compete against the other team and the other player instead of focusing on their own game and playing to the peak of their potential. These types of players can be quite good against weak opposition and put them to the sword, but can get flustered if they believe the other players are just better than them and either give up, or alternatively they can play down to the level they are expecting the opposition to be at based on the Thursday night strategy session.

In the past the Panthers have been a confidence team. If you score first and get on top of them they wilt and don't come back. Secondly they seem greatly influenced by the result they got the previous week. If they won they can be world beaters. In this case they drew against a team without Mitchell Pearce so believe they will be slightly flat.
Advantage Warriors based on that.

In terms of the Warriors. They are like the cricketers who play the opposition instead of playing the game the best they can. We all remember last year I think when they were missing Nathan Cleary and James Maloney. Our Warriors decided the skill and determination level they needed to beat the Panthers that day was minimal and as such we were thrashed and put in probably the worst performance I have ever seen; highlighted Peta Hiku walking after an opposition player who had made a line break, had he jogged Peta would have caught him as Roger slowed down the Panther player.
Am I making my point clear. This is why the Warriors can look credible vs the Storm yet also look an equal participant in a cripple fight against the Bulldogs.
Based on Cleary not playing this would be an advantage to Panthers as it will lead to Warriors dialing down their intensity accordingly.

Overall conclusion. It will be an intense but messy game of league with dropped balls and player errors on both sides. Be sure to have some alcohol near by.

Great Post. Provides some comfort.

Like the team...no complaints....

Good time to play the Panthers without daddy's boy playing....

I think we'll lose this game, but not by much....

We are still struggling to look any good on attack and Katoa will probably have Whare marking him who is a defensive demon.
