We match up ok for size but we're down on experience, Katoa v Sims, Papa v Graham etc. This starting lineup looks more hopeful though, I like Blair at prop in the quicker format, Murchie might be our Lane near the line. Could be closer than I thought.

On the other hand if we lose the toss I don't like our chances of getting a set in the first half.

A few changes according to NRL.com

Warriors: Former Raider Jack Murchie has been elevated into the interchange for his new club. Eliesa Katoa has been promoted to the starting second row with Isaiah Papali'i switching to lock and Adam Blair to prop. Front-rower Lachlan Burr has been omitted 24 hours from kick-off along with bench back Adam Pompey. The Warriors have won their past three games against the Dragons.
Old Kearney playing them mind tricks again

And while I agree with the majority on here about Blair, his ability to play minutes and scrambling defence may see a 2nd coming in the new format.
While I don't want Blair to take up his option next year, I think he has been a bigger asset to the club over the past three? years than what he is given credit for. If he he only cost $450K then we would have gotten great value out of him. Maybe we just have to accept we had to pay $800K for him because we are the warriors.

Justification for him being an asset:

1) He turns up week in week out.
2) He defends well
3) Plays big minutes and is fucking fit as a flea. He obviously trains hard like a professional should.

Bonus things about him is that he brings experience to our pack. He also rises to the occassion in big games.

No flames for this please. Am not saying he is a star player. Or is a great acquisition. Just saying that he hasn't been a total flop for us.

We are replacing

Specimen A: 1.88 metres 6 foot 2 98kgs 48 NRL games
with
Specimen B: 1.93 metres 6 foot 4 105kgs 3 NRL games

Hi Jagged, have a question for your wealth of knowledge that have been thinking of.

Shaun Johnson was on the books for $1.1M

We got back Nikorima for $650K
What did we get for the other $450K

I realise it is not an exact science in answering that question but wondered if you could have a best plausible answer.

In your answer, if you have time to answer it, consider a scenario we would have kept him to retirement.

My guess after watching the game last night and Titans/Cowboys, they wanted a more mobile pack, hence Burr being dropped.

If you look at at what the coach has done, he has tried to make us more mobile.

I like the changes.

Blair at prop is good, keeps him away from the edges, Katoa to start, explosive player, Ice to lock which is much better than him playing on the edge and the new Canberra bloke must be fit enough to come onto the bench.

I'm not excited, but I think these changes are positive.

Go Warriors...

keeping posssesion seems really important in tonights games, what do warriors stats look like for possesion counts?

Shaun Johnson is/was a homebody. Guy loved NZ. If we really wanted to keep him until retirement then we could have.

As for the money he was on/what happened to it, the salary cap is such a fluid thing that it could have gotten used up without us seeing it go out the door or it could still be sitting there waiting for a player to finally say yes. Upgrades, back ended contracts, front loading, player/club options, it's such a fluid thing anything I say would be pure speculation and most likely wrong.

There's really no way to say for sure without seeing the books/knowing someone who has.

That's been the big key for both games in the first half, keep hold of the ball and you get the 6 again restarts

Paasi as an alpha prop is a very sad proposition for us. I prefer anyone who's prepared to give 100% effort all the time. That basically rules out most but I just wanted to put my 2.34567 cents in.
I apologize I was quoting the warriors.

Fair points, mate. Unfortunately, a player's price-tag does make us fan-folks go "Well, for that buck, we expect this bang!" and when that bang isn't as obvious as we'd like - ie tries and amazing game changing tackles - we can get a big snarly. He's not been "Damn he might be expensive, but he Da Man!" but neither has he been "We spent what for that piss-poor level of performance!?" for me. He's been solid enough to justify his existance, but if I was POS and the option was in the club's favour, I'd as of right now leaning towards not taking it up and I'd be expecting him to justify that extension, show a little bit more than he has - do more of those "big game" performances, rather than be offering that extension unless he turned to kaka. If I'm him and since the option is in my favour, I probably would.

Dude allowed himself to be killed, left his student to be under trained and a primadonna, student got his hand cut off and later had to be saved by the person who cut his hand off.

Yep. The Warriors are fucked.
and said student then manged to turn his own student to rugby...sorry, the dark side...there's a moral there somewhere...

And the student also pashed his sister right? Sorry, I don't see how that fits into the Warriors scenario.

Personally can’t wait to see how they play. Very interested to hear if there’s any mention of this biblical “sacrifice” to live in Australia. I feel physically ill when I think of 2021 with SK and AB.
