I think we really missed LAM, Paasi & to a somewhat lesser extent Ken & Fusitua in our last two matches (Eels/Sharks)

There were multiple times in both matches where we really struggled to build any momentum from our go forward & were limited to a 20-30 meter gain or less.

Couple that with Nikorima's kicking game, which is not long at all & we are on the back foot as soon as the opposition claims the ball from a clearing kick.

Overall though, if this squad can maintain their mindset & intensity into the next pre-season /season then I genuinely believe we could not only make the top 8 but even the top 4 in 2021.

With the returning players & the new additions, the nucleus of a good squad is there for 2021, Brown doesn't need to do too much IMO, just some fine tuning & build upon the foundation that Payten & this 2020 squad have already built.

The question for me is, with the new rules being the way they are now, will we try to match these bigger packs for size & power or will we utilize a smaller but more mobile/agile pack to try & run these big packs off their feet as we did at times in 2018.

well i was wrong, i thought that the warriors had learnt how to match up for the big games over the last 3 months, thought they would be up for it if they made the finals. Yesterday showed me that was anything but true. They ran around like headless chooks for the first 20mins when they should have been settled and direct. They then fell over themselves pushing the play instead of playing as they have been doing for weeks now.

This was their biggest game of the year and they looked remarkably like the warriors of yesteryear again.

When they got their second penalty in front of the posts and had the chance to go 4 ahead on the scoreboard, they blew it and went for the big play rather than guaranteed points. Another 2 points of pressure on the sharks and receiving the ball back, compared to what happened. I cant believe they still throw away these opportunities. Not at all professional IMO.

At no stage did it look like the sharks were on the ropes. The ref was bad but more equally than i have ever seen in a sharks warriors game. The warriors gave the win to the sharks in this one with poor plays and to much stupid.

BTW its nice to see Shaun Johnson still can get it up to beat his favourite team. He used to let the warriors get beaten when he was a warrior, now he beats them when he isnt. Has he lost a game to the warriors yet?

I wish we’d start with Egan rather than Lawton. Lawton just doesn’t seem like a starting hooker. I’m excited to see what Murchie & Katoa look like on the edge next year. Harris at lock. LAM, Ben Murdoch-Masila, Jamayne Tounua-Brown, Evans & Paasi as a pack.

I wish Kodi was 100% all the time. All I remember is him putting Murchie through once.

Ugly game! Give PT & Ale a run for the rest of the season!

Nigkorima is essentially Shaun Johnson 2.0 goes missing when needed the most. I noticed Nigkorima went AWOL last week also.

Yes, warriors beat him on a rainy night in wellington last year, one of those rare blake green shows up and wins the game occasions.

At least Jazz made the cover tackle on him to spare him celebrating the winning try.

New coach needs to think about how to best use Harris, he’s turned into a Mannering without the sloppy offloads, 80 minutes, 200m (no kick return meters) huge workhorse numbers, get that it was a must win game, but they can’t ask him to do that all the time.

What did they do to Murchie to make him actually elusive instead of running into players and falling down.

Got a pack with a lot of options coming together for next year. OTOH Kane Evans has looked shit since his signing was announced.

I like Perham, he’s error free and does the mini Roger Tuivasa-Sheck step to get a quick play the ball. Or get held down and called for milking if your cecchin. Maumalo is a specialist for getting those calls, too big to hold down.

Jennings finally turned back into a pumpkin.

Hopefully Brown can also use Turner to threaten Nikorima’s place in the side on occasion.

Team can be proud of themselves, but will be hard to get up for the raiders this week.

Was waiting for him to open it up.

He was disappointing.

I feel it is another example of the difficulties for halves when there is no platform.

The Sharks defence was very smart last night and they managed to shut down our successful left sweeping play involving Chanel Harris-Tavita to Roger to Hayze

We were under the pump most of the game, as we were against Parra which makes it difficult for a running half to impose himself.

That being said, there is really no excuse for not trying it and taking the tackle....

oh btw i rated the game a D, the sharks were poor the warriors were worse.

I see this as no reflection on how there most recent games have gone and as an aberation to be honest. They just didnt get up for the big game, they overcooked it.

D?

in case you werent aware, we were leading with 5min to go.

14-12

yes, it wasnt a great game, but to say they deserve a D ?

ywe had some not so smart decisions but this team were never world beaters to begin with and I'm just glad we didnt get flogged and remained competitive for the entirety of the game

I thought we lacked leadership in the first 20, we were trying to score off every play, the sharks were handing us the game but we weren't smart enough to take it. We needed a smart leader to settle it all down, tell them to hold the ball for a couple of sets and just play for position, Egan might have helped as he is a bit more game aware, Roger I dont think sees it and is probably too far away at fullback, halves are too young and inexperienced to work it out themselves. Not sure who is gonna bring it but without more game smarts we are gonna lose more tough games than we win. Physically think we are OK except for our long kicking game which isnt that long.

I gave em a D too. Ya cant get a C when you lose, especially in a low quality match like that.
Except last week when we got robbed, we lost then and I gave em a C, so I just contradicted what I said.
So whats my point? I dunno either.

The guys must be running on fumes at this stage, the second half of our draw has been brutal. I think a C for a loss is legit.

Forgot to shout out Chanel Harris-Tavita's kicking, just fantastic. He's locked in as more valuable than Kodi already due to that. Hope he can keep it up, having an 80%+ kicker is a massive leg up.
Chanel's going to win us a lot of games with that boot, he's looking like the best goalkicker we've had since Michael Witt.

Yea but its what they did when they got ahead, the options not taken etc.

Look at the Panthers atm as an example of an A
The Roosters as a high B
The Storm a low B
I gota rate the sharks a low C and the warriors lost to them so D

Yeah brother, that edge was squeezed out.
There were a few times he had them sliding fast on the right where a bit of wrong footing could of happened if he read it.
But I'm on the couch,not the pitch.😂

A question

How is it that the Warriors have one of the slowest line speeds in the NRL but seem to get penalised the most for being inside the 10?
Always at the crucial times too when the opposition is jammed in their own 10-20 and are struggling to get out. Our discipline is no worse than any other side in the comp. In fact we are probably amongst the better disciplined sides for offside play, holding down etc. It gets very confusing at times.
