6Again

If you got Roger Tuivasa-Sheck running off him like McKinnon used to do off Rapira and Price he could be even more effective. Often he has his arms free after a good run and there’s no support to offload to.
Agree about the risk of wear and tear though especially given his injury history over the last few years.

Bang on, it was really apparent against the Titans.

There‘s an interesting stat in that the Warriors are the only side who haven’t scored a long range try in the competition this year, not too many either in the last few seasons that I can recall tbh.

Sadly we’re still feeling the residual effects of “Kearney ball” - by that I mean the pervading myth that support runners are only necessary in “Good ball” (another myth) when sides like the Eels, Roosters and Panthers are scoring from all over the park.

It’s no wonder Roger Tuivasa-Sheck doesn’t bother trailing Tohu Harris, most likely too gassed from doing hit-ups anyway.

Far North Forever

For me this is probably the strongest side we’ve fielded all year.
The sharks on the other hand are probably putting out their worst- they’re a bit like manly where they could give it a shake at full strength but they don’t have much depth.
Didn’t help losing xerri and Morris before the season started and with moylan and fafita out I reckon we match up well with them.
Its a smart move playing harris on the right edge for this one- their left side defence is terrible- chads a turnstile and not sure what’s happened to graham- 3rd most missed tackles in the comp- he used to be the man.
Can’t believe I’m saying it but I think we’ll win this.
Favourites with home ground lol

Followed the Sharks closely the last couple of seasons and dont worry they can definitely self destruct with the best of them. Just when they get on a roll they can come with an error or 10 that stops all momentum, there set completion rate is way worse than ours, so your never out of a game with them if u can keep it close, and as Defence pointed out that Chad/Wade Graham edge has been leaking points like a...um... big leaking thing....so definitely an edge to target.

Problem is they also have strike right across the park and if they set up camp long enough down our end Shaun Johnson is likely to tear us new one.

If numbering is anything to go by glad to see Tohu Harris back out on an edge...its like Payten was reading this thread ;)
Great read up as always.

Thank goodness Shaun Johnson left....now we have our own in house experts on the Sharks actual form rather than the this team isnt all that we should win usual rubbish haha.

This "kearney ball" things seems like a myth to me - and 201 & 2019 we were ranked 7th for Line Break Assists - this year it's down to 14. We were 7th and 8th on Linebreaks and now 15th. 2nd and 4th in offloads, now 11th - all while being 5th/6th on completion %, climbing to 4th at a difference of only 2%. Not sure how much of that you can really pin on Kearney. On support runs - we are poor in 2018 at 10th but dead last in 2019, now running 9th this year. Overall though things have trended downwards on attack under Peyten.

I guess what I’m driving at is as Fans we’ve lamented our attack since Kearney took over, hell it’s even managed to turn some of the Warriors most ardent fans away. Guys that used to comment on here for years now hardly bother because the enthusiasm has just gone. In short, we became boring too watch.

Saying that would’ve been unthinkable more than a few years ago.

Stats are great and are useful at times but I also know what I’ve seen over these last few years. We’ve managed to go from a dangerous attacking side with shit house defence to shit house attacking side with shit house defence lol, fmd.

I watch the Panthers attack and think that’s how WE used to play! fuck you Ivan!

Very astute observation for someone that only joined the start of this month 😉

I mean I used to post constantly and now I make maybe 10 posts a month. Feels like I don't see hardcores like Mt Welly or Taj posting as much when I lurk either. So new user or not, he's not far off

But anyway, Payten's selections are just confirming to me that he's not the answer. No movement on the spine when we're struggling to create points and Hiku still in the side. I realise we're extremely limited on options, but Green still being there week in and week out infuriates me. The guy is gone next year AND he's played two good games in as many years.

There's literally nothing to lose putting Chanel Harris-Tavita and Kodi in for a solid run together. Lets actually figure out whether they click or not. They're both on our books for a while yet. If they don't work as a combo, lets figure it out now so one of them can spend the offseason focusing entirely on a move to hooker.

It's Barrett getting the wraps for the Panthers attack this yeah though - Prior to that Ivan's long been criticized for the same "5 one-outs and a kick to the wing " strategy he employed here.

It's weird that the pundits were saying Green could out of the side for the Titans game and yet he's still there - where were they getting that from? Or maybe we've already signed Hastings on the down-low so there's no longer a need to see if Chanel Harris-Tavita can step up?

Yep, true ... angling at Ivan basically having his Warriors side again. Annoying given the plodding attack we’re dealing with.

it must suck to be a head coach, when the team plays well its the assistants doing great or the individual players stepping up. When the team does poorly its all about how boring and overly structured the strategy that the coach is following is. You coach players that might get more money than you, have massive egos and every fan hates you after every loss. Then theres the media. There honestly cant be to many jobs out of politics where you face such hostility on a regular basis. But at least the coaches are all honest upstanding fellows, unlike our politicians.

Get what your saying, it's a tough gig when things aren't going well. I can't feel too much sympathy for head coaches though, they're well compensated as long as fans are drawing a line between personal/professional.

Had to laugh at Ivan the other day giving it back to a West Tigers fan, those sort of moments are why I love rugby league and sport in general.

Come on CG, get onto this with V'Landys instead of arranging flights. We need wins, (or even a 50-50 chance) its hard with the squad we have, but this is ridiculous.
