If we play like we did last week again there would be something seriously wrong. But that Manly forward pack is quality.

Reactions: Off The Bench
Manly have a really good pack. DCE, Tommy Turbo and some handy backs in between. After a slow start they recovered well against the Roosters last week. And their bench is young and they all played well last week and all potentially long term first graders and not just making up numbers. Tough game.

Manly are better this year. The Dogs, even though we beat them, are better this year, the Eels are better,
It's a harder NRL this year in general. Everyone is better, almost, except maybe us (arguably)

I have been thinking many thoughts:

I have been thinking how impotent we were in the red zone last week. We must design plays where AK is first receiver and at the key to them rather than going to Kakariki every play. It doesn't matter at all if they don't work, in fact it doesn't matter if none of them work at any stage. It just takes the focus off shutting down Green.

I have been thinking about how good AK actually is and have decided it is too soon to get a read on him. We will need 4-5 games before we know what we are going to get consistently. He, despite the loss, looked like he grew a bit in confidence last time out.

Boy was it heart warming to see all his friends and family go off the rails when he hit the sideline conversion. They are all Aussies but now they are all Warriors fans this season through and through and that was neat to see. In fact I wish I could see a replay of them cheering it was so heart warming in the midst of a troubling two weeks which included a massacre of innocent people that I am still dealing with.

Kia Kaha AK
Kia Kaha Warriors
And Kia Kaha Aotearoa -

I am expecting the people of Christchurch to come out and support the Warriors and I am expecting it to be emotional. The crowd should and probably will pull us to victory so long as Manly don't score early to take the fans out of the equation.

I think it was Martin Luther King who said it is only the light that can cure darkness and lead us out of troubled times and how we were to try to be the light. I feel like the massacre as dark as it was has created a transformed New Zealand, Where now all ethnicities identify almost overnight as Kiwi first rather than first identifying as being a Hindhu or Phillipino who happens to live in New Zealand. It is like a miracle has happened and tolerance has spread everywhere. There is harmony unspoken as it may be, even on my commuter train to work I can feel it. We are all in it together wherever this goes as a proud but battered nation. His satanic deed has inspired not hate but unprecedented good. The problem I have is the cost of precious precious precious human lives.

Julius Ceaser was killed on the Ides of March and Shakespeare's line in his play is "beware the Ides of March". We will never forget the Ides of March.

Never forget.

Sorry people I just had to get that out.

To early in the season to write the boys off just yet.

Last year was surreal in the start we had and the game against the bulldogs was a false dawn at the beginning of this season.

I don't think Shaun Johnson would have made much difference last week just an overall poor team effort.

If we had another poor team effort this week I would start to worry and ponder has the Chch events left deeper mental scars on the team. Look at the Crusaders last week.

I see the game going one of two ways white wash to them or us.

So what team turns up, and Manly are no push overs?

We have lost 13 of our last 15 games against Manly. Here's hoping the last Christchurch game broke the hoodoo and that Christchurch Stadium is a happy hunting ground. Pretty gutted I won't be able to make this one but life got in the way...

How can you like Mr Brownstones reply ?????? When you wrote " It’s not about winning and losing, it’s the effort. If we lose in a close fought battle we accept it. "
Start playing Tiddlywinks, or Marbles 🖕
I would rather lose at marbles giving everything I had than have the warriors just win in a hopeless performance where they DGAF 😜

My effort driven Warriors will one day win a premiership

Your win without the effort sounds like a bunch of Aussie cricketers 😂

Fonua-Blake and Tommy Turbo back this week after they fought hard to come back in the mud against the Roosters. I can promise you Manly will be up for this game and as mt.wellington said, we have an awful record against Manly. Simple recipe really, we need to get back to what we have been doing well, get into the wrestle, complete sets and build pressure. If the emotion of the occasion gets to these guys, Manly will run riot.
