Lets not get over confident folks.

Wests at home on a Sunday afternoon is there bread and butter. Will just be chuffed to come away with the 2 points. Believe we are the better side, but we are along way off just showing up to get the lollies.

Soward is also a petulant man-child. Based on the results of round 1 i would have us sitting between 4-6 in the power rankings.

I expect the tigers will show some improvement in attack this week, they do have legitimate short kicking game threats in benji and farrah but i think we will limit their chances to execute, as long as we diffuse their kicks.
I feel like people are still conditioned to thinking our players are inferior. That the bubble could burst at any time. Last season this was a valid fear. A whole season later, for the first time ever they look better than the prior year. Like each one has improved.

That's 2 years of improvement. We have not taken any step backward. Although a couple of hidings did reveal our limitations. But I feel the young ones will be wiser this year and won't cave like that again.

Soward justified putting us 12 after giving the biggest hiding of the round. To the team that apparently had the better halves by a country mile. That boasted Tolman and Wood, RFM. Hopoate.

The truth is reputation doesn't trump momentum and form. We're a side on the up. Class means that sooner or later a classy player will come right. But a team that is hungry for success and improvement that meets a team of classy but out of form players from different teams, injured key players. The hungry team will be stronger.

Funny thing is that this forum complained about Mutts and Packer before they left and reckoned good riddance to them. And for good reason. Mutts was lazy and Packer's running impact diminished. They haven't gone badly at Tigers. But they're not up with the top tier.

Marshall hasn't been effective since he left league to go to union.

Farah is good and he and Marshall will no doubt try to target Keighran. But he's lost his sharpness. I'm comfortable our back three will pick up the slack. Roache himself is sharper in the running game.

Masters is not as impactful as his size suggests. He's still developing but I don't feel sides quiver at the sight of him right now. We handled easily enough in the trial. He had a couple of good busts when it didn't matter. His defence is a bit soft.

Do you see anything in their team that even sounds nearly as menacing as Ken/Fusitua/Roger Tuivasa-Sheck?

You're going to see. Cleary isn't there any more. That D has deteriorated. No Simona. Nofoaluma is not the player he was 2 or 3 seasons ago. He hasn't kicked on. I see nothing to fear in that side.

Finally, Brooks is the most overhyped. Not even the Aussies can pinpoint much in his game to fear. He has failed to deliver to the degree people accused Shaun Johnson of, except Shaun Johnson has an impressive highlights reel. Brook's best asset is his speed on support. If his pack dominates and gets a roll on he can get away from you.

I'm confident it's another 16+.

All I can say is "New coach, new attitude" plus the other external factors for this game - If we played them at Mt Smart, then yes, a 16+ could be on the cards. On their turf, I'd be happy with a 1 point win and no injuries....

SK never gets over confident.

This team is playing to a pattern, even the NRL 360 guys saw that, although they blamed the Bulldogs for it.

Maguire will have learned that he has too many Warriors discards to get on top of our guys. They will get worked up agaisnt us, sorry Madge it will be the other way around and you know it.

All the Warriors have to do is remember to tie their bootlaces properly and keep their mind on the job. The rest will follow.

Warriors by less than 12 though.

You're another one still conditioned not to trust your eyes with our team.

We thrashed both Rabbitohs and Roosters last year when Rabbitohs has a better team than this year bar Reynolds. Their backs were still red hot.

They evened it up on return serve, but that's footy.

Our team should be #1 Ranking on results alone.

Two years in a row we win the first round. Last year we hit top around round 8. This year we top the table from round one. The power rankings commentators are touting after round 1 is rootless. Because they all assert "Power Rankings after round one".

They made their preseason predictions already taking into account last years results and names on paper. PRs after round 1 have to be based on round 1 results. Otherwise they carry no weight because they become merely an extension of preseason predictions.

You can't watch our first game, compare with last year, and not conclude that WARRIORS ARE FIRE RIGHT NOW. We scored the most points. Our kicker has a better kicking percentage already than Shaun Johnson ever had. It's probably the highest score from us without Shaun Johnson in over a decade. We looked better balanced (incredibly) than when he was here. Ken, Fusitua and Roger Tuivasa-Sheck were on fire. The forwards look dominant. And the kicker was that how can they judge the form of Bulldogs if they haven't played anyone else yet? Especially when they hyped the shit out of the return of 'The Dogs of War' in the prelude to the games and Foran's 'influence'.

No doubt Rabbits and Storm are good again this year. But the Storm game was the only one that had an obviously more intense pace. Roarters have lost Ferguson but Rabbits have lost arguably more in the 3/4s. They have a tinge of more solid but unspectacular currently IMO.

So to not have Warriors in top 3 minimum is out and out biased and loses any credibility as far as I can see.

They criticized our consistency, so we won our first 7 or 8 games last year. They criticized our results, we made the 8 after 6 years of depression. They criticized our recruitment and said Roger Tuivasa-Sheck would turn to shit here. So he won Dally M player if the year.

They have no credibility when ranking us. They don't even communicate with our club. Because their business is to promote the Australian game. Not to actually make an intelligent comment. And I feel like we crave their approval way too much because we believe that their opinions matter more.

Interesting comment from SK:
"[Last week] we thought we could put some pressure on some individuals if we were consistent with the pressure, and sometimes that's just running the ball hard.
"As we saw after 15-20 minutes, we thought if we could do that consistently that we would get some reward at the back end of halves, and I thought that worked OK."

Looks like he thinks/knows our pack + back 5 can dominate. My guess is he'll stick with it for the short to mid term..

Calm down buddy - you're gonna get your feelings hurt.
We flamed out in our first playoff game and lost a million dollar playmaker.
It will take a few years of consistency to be rated over there.

Its better to be written of then be rated a threat and fail - which we have done before.

Be interesting to see what Mooks does with the 3 small guys. Cant see all of them being in the side. We would just give too much size away. Roache to start, luke off the bench for his first run in a while. Then I think in following weeks roache might miss out if they return to the status quote with bully starting and jazz off the bench. Burr to keep his spot, papalli off then bench, sorry I still dont see what alot of you see with papalli. Lisone back to isp please !
i dont think he sees Jazz as a small guy.

I will probably get slapped for this but Jazz reminds me of Anthony Whatmough. Plays avove his weight and a real pest who could throw opposites of their game. Another apt analogy is junkyard dog.

It is hard to quantify the value of such a player, has the ability to get the ball and have half the opposition coming at him because he has pissed them off so much. Also an energiser bunny who wants the ball all the time and raises the energy of his team.

I lo e watching Jazz, but shit, I hated playing against such players.

OK, wash out my mouth with soap for suggesting this....but in 5-6 years, could he be a Kiwi Gallen-Grub?

Didn't Soward have the Tigers higher in his power ratings than the Warriors after last week game?

If so the following picks shows just what a tool he is!

View attachment 40336
It's all a ploy of his so when he drops us down to 15th in his power ratings after we destroy the Tigers, he can say that's because he predicted the Warriors would do that.
Cunning as a fox is Soward.

It's certainly possible.
He could be a SAS man, little guy with a chip that carries the heaviest pack in the group, there are men like that, Jazz behaves that way.

Thomas Leiuluai was that sort of player, little man that love laying on big hits. Abandoned by the Warriors then brought back in later years after they realised the Kiwis under Kearney loved that angle.

Like Leiuluai I recon it is a case of correct use makes the player worth it.

The Warriors had him as a leading half (mistake imo) Tommy was a great 2nd hooker not a lead half in a team that had an instinctive non controlling opposite in Johnson.

So I hope the a correct niche for the correct minutes played is found for Jazz, since after Roger Tuivasa-Sheck he seems to be the Warrior with the most fire in his belly.

Soward is predicting the end result after 24 rounds. hes not going of the results of round 1 just yet. give him slack. besides if we should know anything predictions mean nothing in sports.
Burr over papa, because i want character built for later down the track not quick results. Tigers will be tough but i think our team unity is what will end up getting us over them, its no longer one person trying hard, its the whole team, and that only happens because each layer is held accountable by each other.

AK had so much emotion and pride last game its good to see someone whose that invested in the experience means hes wanting to and willing to give it his all.
