NRL PHYSIO (@nrlphysio) Tweeted: Somewhat graphic: by video significant concern for left ACL injury for Nathaniel Roache. Non contact + change of direction, shows forward shift of lower leg bone (tibia) + sudden snap back into place (usually ACL rupture). Fingers crossed the video lies #NRLWarriorsPanthers https://t.co/jyM5qIohp2

There is a slow mo here. It looks ugly.

I saw that replay live, and couldn't ever remember seeing something in someones leg move like that before.

Unfortunately hes done. 2 ACL's and back surgery within the last 2 years isn't it??

Very tough on the young man, but hes just made of glass. Benry 2.0.

Have to laugh at people trying to throw support behind Herbert - I can only assume because of their anchored and fictional view that he is a ‘revelation’ at centre. His missed tackle that put the Panthers in front was inexcusable. I can only imagine the hate that would be paid out on one of the forum scapegoats if they had been responsible. Herbert is a dud.

Thank You,

I shall make sure in future that I don't trust what I can physically see and only go by the amount of Fantasy Points a player scores.

So you don’t think 50 tackles, 180m and 73min in the middle is a bloody awesome effort? Fantasy or not, those numbers are legit.

Fantasy just quantify the stats. I honestly don’t understand the hate for Jazz.

Who cares if he’s small. He’s got more heart than the majority of our pack, and rips in week in week out. Sure, he makes the odd mistake but I’d rather see a failed offload in this dull attacking structure we’re running than not.

He’s also 90kg. That’s not that small.

People need to understand big doesn’t equal good. Lisone And Satae are both mountains compared to Jazz but I know who id rather have in my 17.

Yeah totally get where you're coming from.

Bring back Kata.

Oh wait...

I agree those are good stats but can he maintain it week in and week out?

That's the problem.

No consistency in our game. And that goes for everyone in the team, not just Jazz.

He came from St George ISP. If he came from Melbourne reserve grade that might be better.

Simply numbers I would expect to see from any 13 in the comp that takes 21 carries in a game.

Back it up 2 weeks in a row and perhaps we can talk.

For now he is an undersized, error prone middle, nothing more.

I'm not sure hes a revelation, but also not sure hes a dud(yet). Hes a 6 game rookie, with a reserve grade half inside him, an lock that can tackle and nothing further, and a winger with a case of droppedlipitis. Given the absolute rubbish we've put up with at centre over the last forever, i'm willing to give him abit more time before we shoot him to the moon. The tackle was absolutely inexcusable, but hes a rookie and these things happen unfortunately.

Absolutely the guy is still somewhat of a rookie. He is one of the very few who should be allowed some time.

That's a bit harsh, it's only his first year in first grade isn't it, kata had more than that. U can pound on herbert next year if he doesn't improve, it was a bad miss but some other experienced players were just as bad. I for one happy kata has gone, the jury for me still out at the moment on herbert. Roger Tuivasa-Sheck missed naden as well as did Fusitua.

He is a weak tackler and I’m yet to see any evidence of an attacking game. Perhaps it is too soon to label him a dud however that looks to be the path he’s heading down. I’m comfortable calling it early.

Hmm ... I'm not going to bag Herby out ... sure he's a 6 game rooky and the missed tackle was bad.. but Fusitua being the "pro of the 2" should of scrambled to cover tackle..... thats what pissed me off the most. Fusitua should be expecting a mistake or 2 and ready to cover for him til he gets established as a 1st grader.
I hope that doesn't ruin Herbys confidence in his team, cause if I was him I'd be thinking WTF I thought we had each others backs. In stead got thrown under the bus by a lazy "Pro" who could of easily ran him down and saved the game.... seems to be the norm in this team pass the f*$#)?g buck.... even when the seasons at stake....

I also bagged Fusitua for casually jogging back instead of coming across and trying to tackle the guy but I have thought more about it and I know why Fusitua did it.

It is not really a good reason but it is a reason.

He tracked the break out runner instead of pursuing him because he assumed Roger Tuivasa-Sheck would gobble him up and stop the try.

To be fair usually Roger Tuivasa-Sheck makes that tackle and he was a bum on that play.

Roger Tuivasa-Sheck also got outleaped for a try. Although ideally we should have run an escort. I know escorts are illegal but you still have to do them, just not too blatantly. We just let their runner have a free crack for the high ball.

Glaring errors put pressure on referees to keep Origin roles
AuthorDan WalshNRL.com ReporterTimestampMon 1 Jul 2019, 05:00 PM
A series of glaring officiating errors could put the Origin roles of senior referees Gerard Sutton, Ashley Klein and Jared Maxwell in jeopardy as the NRL weighs up its appointments for next week's decider.

A "sloppy" weekend for the whistleblowers led to NRL head of elite football Graham Annesley conceding a series of incorrect calls were made by several officials, most notably lead Origin referee Sutton, his assistant Klein and senior review official Maxwell.
Sutton was in charge of Penrith's controversial 19-18 defeat of the Warriors while Maxwell was on duty for that game in the NRL Bunker.

Annesley admitted on Monday that Warriors winger David Fusitua had been wrongly awarded a try, Jahrome Luai was incorrectly sin-binned and Liam Martin was allowed to return 90 seconds early from his own 10-minute stint in the bin.
Klein also had a lamentable weekend, awarding a try as senior video referee to Cronulla's Shaun Johnson against Canterbury despite replays showing a knock-on in the lead-up by teammate Briton Nikora.
Newcastle fans were also aggrieved by Klein's control of a 14-7 penalty count against the Knights in their win over Brisbane 24 hours earlier.
Annesley and referees' boss Bernard Sutton will appoint the officials for Origin III on Tuesday, with no changes having been made throughout the series in 2019.

Annesley discusses key decisions from Round 15

Annesley stressed that both games one and two have been largely controversy free – despite growing concerns out of NSW camp over Queensland's wrestling and late hits – but did concede recent errors would be taken into account with Origin appointments.
"I can't say to you that any one of these decisions would mean that a particular official would or would not get an Origin nod," Annesley said.
"They all factor into consideration, but they don't necessarily determine the outcome in isolation.
"We have to look back at how they've performed in recent weeks and back throughout the season, and what's happened in Origin I and II.
"We had the same set of officials go into Origin I as we did in Origin II.

"Thankfully those games were relatively controversy-free and I think everyone wants to see next Wednesday night as controversy-free as possible."

Sutton was largely responsible for the decision to sin-bin Luai for what was deemed a professional foul on Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, who was found to have knocked on moments before.
From the resulting set Maxwell awarded a try to Fusitu'a despite replays showing the winger putting one hand into touch before grounding the ball with the other.

The timekeeping error, in which Martin returned to the field "90-100 seconds" ahead of time, book-ended 10 minutes of officiating drama, with Annesley stressing that mistake was a "human error" and not the fault of technology or rules in place.

Annesley reiterated that while review times from the Bunker have become quicker in 2019, officials have had no new edict aimed at speeding up decisions.
"In these cases there is no instruction to the video officials that they must react quickly, that they must react with only a certain number of replays," Annesley said.
"The most important thing is to get the decision right and they can look at it as many times as they want.
"There's no real answer I can give you about why they're missed. These decisions are made in pressure situations, human frailty just fails us.
"No one is trying to make errors and sometimes these things don't become completely clear until they're looked at in much more detail when there is no pressure on."
Annesley declined to comment on George Burgess's eye-gouging incident and whether the Rabbitohs forward should have been sin-binned or sent off as his case will go before the judiciary on Tuesday night.
A mid-season rule change last year gives officials the option of marching a player for 10 minutes over incidents of foul play, with Burgess potentially having to wait until finals to play again this year given a 10-week ban is on the cards due to his carry-over points and loading from previous eye-gouging charges.

Well Klemmer has been left out of Origin squad, so unless Sims is found guilty at the judiciary. I expect Klemmer to literally take a knife and fork out on the field this weekend to eat our pack. Scary thought, 240m and 42 tackles last week and he wasn't even angry then.

I agree - I respect Jazz for his energy and effort, punching above is weight both on attack and especially defensively.

My gripe with him is his handling (he’s always a risk to drop a few - probably because he’s always looking to offload) and how he always seems to take the ball at the wrong times (getting in the way of plays).

So many times on Sat we had good position to put in a move on 3rd/4th tackle and the ball (and momentum) died with him.

But again - you have to commend his intensity. Those numbers are no joke and why I love having him provide that spark off the bench.

Just take a look at every high kick the panthers caught, players in front of the catcher every time. On that try Herbert and Fusitua were both looking around like headless chickens and nowhere near the ball.
