The one area I worried when Blair was dropped is his communication in Defence.

You cannot lose Shaun Johnson Blair and Luke's directing the others and expect the team to do much more than tackle ok in spurts.

That's the invisible factor, their experience and their guidance. Otherwise you end up with a lot of individuals in an exercise that requires talk talk talk.

Best case Blair comes back with a new lease of life.

Unfortunately I suspect SK after the Eels players turned on him, was forced to have someone like Blair to be his advocate in the playing group.

Bro you can hate someone as a player and not as a person. I think you’ll find you looking into this a bit too much. People currently don’t like the “player” Adam Blair is not the man. People don’t like how much he’s getting paid and for how long considering his output recently. Nobody has said anything about the man hence nobody will say it to his face but I’m sure on a forum dedicated to discussing the team they’ve supported for 25 years some have a right to hate certain players. I personally don’t hate the player but I reckon I could after this weekend if he plays shit and there’s nothing wrong with that.

Hard to make an impact as a forward in reserve grade particularly now they are playing him at lock.

Other players manage to play at lock and still make run meters though. RCG didn't seem to have any problems making an impact in reserve grade last week.

Sorry, but the team proved you wrong in the last 2 matches. Granted the opposition last time was crap, but once the players had collectively decided that they weren’t gonna lose again, that they were gonna give it their best shot, they came back from the dead and beat St George. Without either Shaun Johnson, Blair or Luke.

I think your argument is invalid in the same way as the argument that ‘being without Shaun Johnson and/or Mannering made it hopeless’ is invalid. Coz they beat the Roosters in round 5 of 2018 without either.

What has been proved is essential is not having those highly experienced players in the team, the ones they all look up to, it’s a collective determination that they can do it. Plus a good game plan etc etc, of course.

Gotta respect anyone that's played in the NRL as long as Blair has. Doesn't happen by accident.

And his contribution to the Kiwis have been significant.

However I HATE that we're paying him 700k a season for the output we're getting from him. And I HATE that it's till 2021 which is probably hamstringing the club in chasing the roster they need.

In saying that I'm hoping he has a big one against the Broncos cause we're sure as hell going to need him to given we look severely underpowered up front against the likes of Pangai Jnr, Payne Hass, Matthew Lodge and Co.

If Blair can get in the face of Haas and Pangai Jnr and frustrate them then he's worth having around. They are the 2 main threats in an otherwise average Broncos line up.

Oats and Staggs can be dangerous if we dont man up otherwise I see this as a game we should win. Passi is a huge loss but with Bunty starting I think we have that covered.

Interchange is where this will be won or lost

I knew as we all did when he came here that he isn't a metre eater but what he does add is something we have been lacking for years!
Aggression and niggle. I could give a shit about metres. Give them some niggle, piss them off, give away a penalty or 5..
Look, he has been average, poor by his standards, but I'm backing him to have a good 1.

You could have a whole team of 34 year olds with 300 games each, but you know as well as I do that the chances are that a team with a good mix of experience and youth and freshness and strength of purpose will beat them every time.

Also, if a player makes 50m per game, but attracts on average 1.5 penalties, then 1.5 x ?..say 40m: deduct 60 from 50 and that player's average go forward is actually go backward.
With Blair's recent form that 50m got closer to zero, but he still gave away the penalties. 2 penalties on top of go forward of 10m means a huge liability to the team. I know that that doesn't consider tackle efficiency etc, but we're talking about First Grade quality here. A forward in First Grade, one of his reputation, is supposed to have it all.

Look, I really wish that Blair was playing well and hope he does so against the Broncs. I really hope he does fulfil the promise he once had.

Seriously though....Satae, Pulu, I’m not too bothered which and I don’t know enough about them to argue their merits. But you know how it is, if a player is held back from FG and is then given a chance, they’ll make damned sure they put the effort in. eg. Mason Lino v the Roosters last year, playing out of his skin. Let’s give the guys a chance!

Warriors official profile: “He started strongly for the Vodafone Warriors, appearing in each of the five straight wins to open the campaign but picked up a foot injury in the sixth round which has had him sidelined long-term.” I know, that form isn’t now, but then Blair’s playing on his reputation from 10 years ago, so definitely Pulu. Let’s give him a run now!
