I hate all the whining and carrying on. Manly were big on that last time Hasler was coaching them. Might be part of Hasler's build a seige mentality. Every penalty was followed by cries of "How can you possibly penalise us" like its the refs insulting them not them breaking the rules. Was great fun watching Manly lose their composure and their cool. But the game also made me hate Manly just that little bit more. With their pathetic attempts to milk penalties, their crybaby tosser tactics, and their generally pissy behaviour.
If you move your clubs superstar like that you take the risk of things not going to well. Then the coach has the decision to persevere or move the player back. Bennett persevered with it and it worked. He also had a reasonably experienced player. Brown wisely moved Ponga back, despite the few scattered performances for the Cowboys he's in his 2nd or 3rd year of first grade.Mitchell having a very rough night at 5/8. Meanwhile Ponga has looked so good since moving out of the halves and back to fullback. It is a warning to the few people who suggested Roger Tuivasa-Sheck end up in the halves. Sure Lockyer did it, but it takes someone exta special to be able to move into the halves mid career and make a real go of it
Roger Tuivasa-Sheck has shown some nice passing skills which shows he's improving his game from just a runner and stepper. It could work but we struggle enough game to game imagine the media pressure or sack the coach discussions if we moved him and struggled.
