I don't think they were as bad as everyone makes out.

Greens kicking was OK, Looks like he's still hampered by the groin.

Fowards were great tonight. Lawton was OK.

Herbert made some defensive errors but with only 4 games under his belt can improve.

Kodi needs a short kicking game, if he only runs it becomes easier to defend.

I think people expect perfection every week, it's not going to happen.

He is the Dally M bench player. I really don't get the criticism for him. He is awesome, as long as he is not hooker.
You make sense. I think some of us feel that his high energy can be a boost. But it comes at the cost of a bigger body. We look light as a pack and hence we got beat by the biggest forwards: Klemmer, Burgess bros, NAS/Bromwich.

The fact the training staff thought to add muscle/size to the forwards over preseason is Imo a nod to that notion. I think they see size as the thing that prevented us mixing it with the best teams last year.

Look at rounds 1-8 last year. We rolled the Rabbits and Roosters through line speed. Next time we met both, we got beaten badly. Size eventually wins.

Bro. The error rate says it all. We beat them for errors in a winning performance. They played the way we played against Tits. I'm sure someone will retrieve the stats. We also missed a shitload of tackles.

I'm just saying we're not top 8 material yet. We beat minnows so far. Broncos is a bit better test but to me that will only earn us 8th spot. If we beat a top 8 side I will feel better.

I kinda see it like blocker, look at where the attack is coming from, We got Jazz, Luke Lawton under the dot. Harris, Paasi and Ah Mahu, either side of the posts, then we get into Hiku and Herbert. The wingers and Roger Tuivasa-Sheck. A play maker leading the team and a new boy Kodi, who can break the line.

To me that's pretty much across the park. Lawton, Herbert and Roger Tuivasa-Sheck give us some speed from further back.

Give the team a few more weeks to gell, and barring injury its gonna be exciting when they come up against the storm again.
Auto correction: the storm (& Cecchin) again.

Overall, I think the backs look mostly balanced. But Green's game is a concern. He can't kick to either wing adequately. Two of the best options in the air. Could almost guarantee us a try. But not with him kicking. If it wasn't for his kicking for territory I'd demote him. I think Chanel Harris-Tavita could be a great foil for Nikorima and would really speed up our backline.

I could be wrong and we could miss his distribution skills. But that's the only area I have a moan about in the backs.

Forwards lack cohesion and I'm going to say Afoa, Ahmau, Harris, Burr, Sao, Pulu are my core group. I think the complication is Blair and Luke. Soon we're going to have to make a call on both. My preference is Roache and Lawton and use Luke at finals time. Blair is frustrating with his penalties at clutch moments. But his tackling is so good. In that case Papalii might be a better option.

On our error rate one article had Kearney discussing how we failed to finish our last 4 sets before half time. We still get periods where we go missing. Not as bad as they used to but still 4 sets in a row not completed is pretty shocking. Unless you are deep inside the opposition 20 going all out to score. If you fail to complete a set you should be completing the following set.

We still get periods where we are on defense for repeat sets from turning the ball over to easily. That is something under our control to fix. The better sides will make us pay for it.

Seriously who puts up with that crap, Burr should've slapped him like the little bitch he behaves like.

I like that Maloney is competitive but I'd really like to see him eat some knuckle sandwiches..

He did it whilst playing for us too... the old boot throw

We have to decent wingers under the high ball. At the moment most of that is defusing opposition kicks. We might not be getting into good positions on the 5th tackle to set them up. Part of that would also be on Green getting us into position being our main on field director. Along with his kicking.

That is one thing Johnson was good at and probably helped take some of the pressure off Green.

Mate I thought so too, but the commentators and the stats blamed Lawton. So what Roger did must have been missed.
dunno if this has already been mentioned but Lawton was holding the leg, when Rodger pushed, thats why he fell and it was an automatic penalty against Lawton.
