nah thats crap, Roger Tuivasa-Sheck butchered 2 tries by not passing when it was on and Fusitua was OK but only because they kicked to him, he didnt really add anything extra like he normally does, it really felt like the old kick it to Manu days. The player that did impress me was Lino, they ran at him all night long and he still put it to them. Green sort of had an off game this week as well and communication didnt look as good. But then again maybe that was because they spent the entire first half standing at the other end of the pitch waiting for someone to kick it between the sticks for the first half.

As a neurolinguistic algebraic fractionist rocket scientist I have surmised that backs cannot impact a game on the back of a pack that is being dominated.

It's very scientific.

A couple of fluke opening tries

A rare miss by Simon

Shoddy defence by Hiku

Gapping holes normally filled by harris or Luke

Nothing to worry about really

Roger Tuivasa-Sheck didn’t look too upset after the game

SK was yeah,um,er,ah, like ok boys, yum.

Confidence is still strong in the camp

We’ll bounce back at home

Nothing to worry about

These are the official NRL stats.

Missed tackles in 8 rounds - 306, avg 38

Rabbits - 44
Titans - 26
Raiders - 45
Roosters - 28
Cowboys - 25
Broncs - 38
Dragons - 63
Storm - 37

We can't keep relying on scramble so heavily, it's a long season and eventually it will catch up on us. The hit and stick + first up contact needs to improve across the board. So many 2nd efforts week after week is surely not sustainable longterm.

The perfect storm...

NEVER seen the boys play well in a late night game

Short turn around - Even though we both had a short turn around, with our travel and then being at home to recover - it was extra short!

Dragons game - 37% possession... we paid for that tonight in our performance

Too many first choice players injured - and key players in key position

Mannering playing out of position... and not fit yet

Storm on fire, well coached, on form, strategically nailed it

Normally I don’t believe in excuses but there is no way our performance was typical of this team, this season. The storm were up for this game and we definitely had everything against us... shake it off, different team, different game against the tigers

Fusitua and Hiku Defense was so shit ...they really need to lift

KEN has zero attacking idea where was he when Gelling broke the line ??

the bulk of the team looked star struck from the show in the first 20 ... like its game time BOYs wake up!!
Agree about Maumalo - yes he does does make those metres from hit ups but that seems about it - he seems to be like a child at school trying to fit in with the other kids but not really sure how to - a few times tonite he looks kind of lost. Maybe he misses Kata.

Haven't read all the posts on here but i would be having Lawton come in to the side for luke, come on steve give the guy a go. Lisone/Vete thanks for the memories but no. One other disappointing thing was there seemed to be a lot of shirt grabs again, Vete was one i saw and he also looks overweight? - (I'm sure there were other shirtgrabbers). But to be fair the warriors were outplayed by a very good storm side.

That hurt a LOT. I think the turn around + mental drain from friday killed us. I turned the game off at 35min so I didn't see it, but to only lose the 2nd half 12-10 is pleasing and more in line with what I expect of this team.
Smart man I turned it off at a similar time. Got work the following day no point staying up for punishment like I did in 2017. Probably should of went to the Avengers at a more convenient time for the family (when the game was on) instead of mid afternoon.

Both teams had a short turn around. They needed to travel back from Brisbane so most likely had that flight and a recovery session. We lost a day to get over there. End of the day both teams had a short turn around. They have a more experienced coach, 2 future immortals and a pretty well drilled side so probably better equipped to deal with it. A lot is said about our advantages during the Origin period well on the flip side the Origin players learn to back up from a Wednesday to play a few days later.

They effectively took the game in a 5-10 minute spell where they ripped out defense to shreds.

Edges were well and truly exposed, Lino, Green, Hiku and our second rowers were shown up. Probably through not playing enough together and trust.

The first try was freaky play, no chance. Second was a Fusitua error through pressure of the chase, simple as that. Then 3 tries in a row, spin it wide early, break a tackle, repeat. Confidence gone, game gone, thanks for not showing up.

Second half was better, attack looked rusty with no Luke and Harris. Mannering was moved to the middle, which is where he should be these days. Doesn't have the speed and passing game for a second rower anymore unfortunately. Lisone was dominated running the ball.

Need to take a break, freshen up, and come back hard next weekend. Shaun Johnson, Harris and hopefully Kata/Luke/Gavet are back on board.

I think the 2 games we have lost this year we have been totally out coached by 2 of the best coaches in the game.

They were both a lesson in the coach picking our weaknesses and instructing his team what to do and where to hit. Having a team that can listen to the coaches instructions and make it work in the game is also huge. Both the Broncos and Storm have that ability.

We have lost to arguably the 2 best teams in the last 10-15 years. How we bounce back and are coached from it will show how we have come on as a team.

Yes, its an absolute arse kicking, but I don't think we will have put out the white flags for the season yet. The improvement in the second half was massive. Maybe the Storm knew they had it in the bag, but Bellamy would not be happy that we were so close in that half.

10 days for the team to get a bollocking from Kearney and pick themselves up and come up with a plan to take apart the Tigers.

We are still a shit load better off this so far year than any of us could have dreamed of. Solid win next week and we will all be happy again.

Kearney et al have done a brilliant job this year, especially when it comes to people slotting in as replacement depth, the ' process'has been flawless.

Every Unit reaches a critical mass where this goes beyond its limits and cannot be sustained.

Take two of your spine out and the meat of your go forward, and you're done.

That's not an excuse, it is reality.

Losing Luke early then Paasi, meant Tevanga, Lisone, Vete played bigger minutes than they can handle.

In a weird way I ended up quietly proud of that second half because 38 nil is a big head start against that lot.

Our reserve grade B side might be toast, but they have some pride.

That cluster truck of factors (look at what's happened to our Centers and edge forwards ffs...the tacklers who have worked to build a unit both sides have been completely gutted).

That second half was massive for the trust between player and coach.

Well done lads.

Listening to Radio Sport this morning Dale Budge was talking about the draw. Mentioned the Roosters played on the Thursday but didn't have to leave Sydney whereas the Dragons, Storm, Warriors had to travel back after playing on the Friday. The other 4 teams also played on the Friday so one less day.

Worth mentioning as my point above about our travel. The Dragons had to fly back to Sydney.

We backed up after the Broncos loss. Need to get some of the injured players back and get closer to full strength and bounce back.

I thought mt Wellington last post was pretty much perfect. I think the difference between this weeks game and last weeks game was that the Storm turned their opportunities to points where the Dragons didn’t.

First of all lets stop this short turn around cop out bullshit. Storm played same night last week after our game against the Dragons.

The simple truth is Bellamy came prepared with a game plan that completely negated our middle defences line speed and exposed our outside edges poor defence. By playing such a direct attacking line it reduced the time our sliding defence had to cover the one on one tackles out wide. Add to that the fact that our centres have always been guilty of planting way too early and its no surprises that we were caught well short. The 60 odd missed tackles last week we only got away with because the Dragons played very lateral and allowed our sliding defence to cover. Even when the ball reached their wingers we were able to get 2-3 players on him.

Basically Bellamy has given the whole NRL blueprint on how to beat us. Stretch the defence by going coast to coast. Passing or kicking out wide than back in behind the ruck. All these things remove the ability of the sliding defence to get cover any shortfalls.

And shortfalls there were a plenty. Our edge needed to be a lot more direct in defence but instead got found out backpedaling. Makes stepping them and in and aways so much easier. That being said it was a very poor night at the office for our flanks. Way too much class from the Storm but also below average defence from the Warriors.

Better fix it fast...

Spot on. Bellamy is playing the edges and missing the middle of the field completely. Its not new. I think the old defensive line was umbrella. That would still work. I had a go at the boring defensive line thing a couple of seasons ago that itd be fun to change the shape i thought maybe the defensive line would be duck formation, the edges way back guys around the ruck at the head, union (pardon my swearing) attack styles formation cept used as a defensive line. Players can still slide and move up. Shapes are fun, Bellamys coach brain is fun to watch. Real love hate for those stormy dastards

I’m always leery of the anzac game, the prematch is good spectacle, but its hard enough to win in melbourne at the best of times, and harder still with the big spotlight shining down which they seem to relish and we shrink from. I mean, we let our whipping boys the titans beat us on anzac day once.

Also, we’ve got to let the storm bogey team thing go, they are not a good matchup for us these days, too big, too fast. Even a relative nobody like Welch is bigger and more physical in the tackle than any of our forwards.

If Issac hadn’t have got hurt would just pretend the game never happened, lots of reserve graders, opposition unplayable etc, etc. Unfortunately our attack won't be as smooth without him and they'll have to win some scrappy games.

The only positive is at least they didn’t rush back the injured brigade to take this whopping. Full credit to Roger Tuivasa-Sheck though. Blair also playing a lone hand in the middle.

Storm started fast and hard and jumped away to a good start with a couple of tries while we lost Luke. We were missing too many of our 1st choice players - Harris, Johnson, Gavet, Kata and then Luke.

We are definitely better than that.

Good to get a bit of a break now and key players back. Let’s get back to 2018 winning ways against Tigers.

Go Warriors!!!
