Just got home from the game and here is something i never thought i would say. Someone asked to be updated on how the crowd atmosphere at the game was. Well it was "SYMPATHETIC"

Seriously people were looking at me like, oh you poor soul. Are you ok. I even had one guy ask me if i really wanted to go back in at half time and watch the rest (and he was only half joking).

Ive been to losing games before, but at least there was something to get angry at, the first half was so flat and thank god they finally turned up in the second half, but ho fuck what was that first half.

Roger Tuivasa-Sheck kills a certain try right at the start and a highly probable before half time. Mannering is standing there like a deer in headlights. Seriously who forgot to give them their weekly dose of harden the fuck up and try to tackle someone.

Lastly i feel for anyone who traveled to the game from anywhere, at least im a local.

Frank White so sorry i was late getting to the game, and unable to catch up before kick off (got there right on the last post) i owe you a beer mate.

Went to the game. We were out muscled in every facet of the game, its that simple.
Melbourne completed every set, got every bounce, and finished every opportunity.

Great game to watch in terms of entertainment, terrible game of you're a warriors fan

Roger Tuivasa-Sheck and Fusitua were good.
The rest were rubbish.
nah thats crap, Roger Tuivasa-Sheck butchered 2 tries by not passing when it was on and Fusitua was OK but only because they kicked to him, he didnt really add anything extra like he normally does, it really felt like the old kick it to Manu days. The player that did impress me was Lino, they ran at him all night long and he still put it to them. Green sort of had an off game this week as well and communication didnt look as good. But then again maybe that was because they spent the entire first half standing at the other end of the pitch waiting for someone to kick it between the sticks for the first half.

My assessment...
It’s not the end of the world
Their forwards rolled us (Nelson and Co) and Smith&Slater played conductor and fed their edges well and exposed our well documented fragile edge defence.

In response with Luke gone early, the service from dummy half wasn’t up to standard to beat the defending premiers.
This reflected in our go forward.

I love Manners but is it me or has he stifled our edge attack since he’s been back?

Anyway, positives for next game with tigers....
10 day turn around
We should have Tohu Harris, Shaun Johnson, Kata, Gavet and hopefully Beale back.
We just need to solve the dummy half problem with a makeshift ie Mason who has a crisp pass or an established rake Lawton ( haven’t followed ISP so don’t know how he’s gone)
I’ll be there at Mt Smart next week as believe the boys can turn it around.

It's hard to know what to do with Ken. He has improved so much, but he still finds himself out of position and doesn't have wingers instincts. It would be tough to drop him for Beale but that may be what is needed.

Put him on the bench and use him as a edge forward. Or replace with manners all together

i wasnt going to say anything about Mannering as while watching the game, i said something rude "mannering" so many times, that my mother in law looked at me and said you really dont like him do you. Before tonight i just wanted him judged to the same standard as all other team mates. Now i would love to see him dropped. He was awful. The thought of people saying put him in to centre - OMG, i cant even think of the words to say about this.

After watching Mason i think he could fill in for Bully, they actually play a very similar style of play IMO.

First of all lets stop this short turn around cop out bullshit. Storm played same night last week after our game against the Dragons.

The simple truth is Bellamy came prepared with a game plan that completely negated our middle defences line speed and exposed our outside edges poor defence. By playing such a direct attacking line it reduced the time our sliding defence had to cover the one on one tackles out wide. Add to that the fact that our centres have always been guilty of planting way too early and its no surprises that we were caught well short. The 60 odd missed tackles last week we only got away with because the Dragons played very lateral and allowed our sliding defence to cover. Even when the ball reached their wingers we were able to get 2-3 players on him.

Basically Bellamy has given the whole NRL blueprint on how to beat us. Stretch the defence by going coast to coast. Passing or kicking out wide than back in behind the ruck. All these things remove the ability of the sliding defence to get cover any shortfalls.

And shortfalls there were a plenty. Our edge needed to be a lot more direct in defence but instead got found out backpedaling. Makes stepping them and in and aways so much easier. That being said it was a very poor night at the office for our flanks. Way too much class from the Storm but also below average defence from the Warriors.

Better fix it fast...
