Why isn’t kicking an opponent in the curlies a chargeable offence?

Looks like a park footy game.

One of our old players in Shaun Lane has had an interesting second half. Scored a pretty easy try. Then gone clearing kick straight to the noggin. One way to gain some field position I suppose.

I have never been a fan of the 'he didn't play at it' rule.
The dude was running at the kicker, he was intending to charge down the kick or tackle the kicker, he put himself in the way of the kick... it was clear that he influenced the play.
No he didn't stick his head in the way deliberately, but he did put himself in the way...
To me that is making a play and it should've been called as such.

Agree entirely - they call a tackler touching the ball in attempting a tackle as playing at, why is this any different

I read that and as Mt Wellington put it so well "giraffe neck" Churry-Evans - he won't be charged - have to say it looked pretty dodgy to what he did, definitely had his finger near the guys eye...

Not guilty of eye gouging. They could of at least stretched it out a few days. It would of been interesting to see him in interviews gving scripted answers around the incident.

The commentators were also constantly going on about them only having 21 players left and will they call up Hastings. It would of made things interesting with all of their injuries if their captain got suspended.

Bryce Cartwright has to be one of the most over-rated players, he really doesn't offer anything, penrith must have waved him goodbye happily.

Good to see Stacey, Wiki and Mark Graham make the top 25 tonight to be considered for the final 6 to be inducted into the Hall of Fame in July. The first 100 in the Hall of Fame named in 2008 were all Aussies, so would sweet to get a token Kiwi in there.

Has Thurston really been carrying them all these years? They were way worse than us before him

They managed to get to a Grand Final last year without Thurston or Scott. But the rest of the squad were playing a lot better than they are now.

Interested to say was the cause at the end of the year when they prepare for next year. Will there be a big turn over of players as some gone a bit too long or will they just work on their style of play?

They were struggling this year even before MacClean went down.

Wondered that, they were seen sorta joking around after the game, if not an eye gouge it looked bad regardless whatever giraffe neck was trying to do

That was a heck of a try by Bevan French there, not a lot the defender can do there.

Eels looking capable of doing the Warriors a favor.

Been in a no league watching zone since anzac day, enjoying this one, usually not fond of the eels, but you kind of have to go for 16th vs 5th.

I think you want the tigers coming to mt smart with a bit of doubt and concern over 2 losses.

Corey Thompson is good, hard road for Lolohea to get that jersey back.

Watching the Tigers I have been wondering how long they would be able to get away with playing so many small backs....especially if they lost any of their front line Props...also Pita G is another small man in that line up.

Like you I have been NRL shy after that game in Melbourne, I happened to be driving home when this kicked off and it's playing on Radio Sport so ended up picking up on the game on fanpass at home.
