Good assessment of the League versus union situation and no one sane would argue the Warriors haven't deserved the boot. Frankly players were taking the piss and Management were incompetent ( all changed now, new bosses in the big house). Thanks all for the welcome.
TBF I haven't watched the Warriors even once this year, so despite some pre-conceptions of my own on Kearney I'm going to have to believe you. Up until now he's been pretty poor, and the general impression given was that he was to chummy with the players. Consequently, when the tough decisions were there to be made he either shied away from it, or it wasn't well received by players who considered him a peer, as opposed to a superior.
Someone like Corvo though is exactly what you guys needed. While I'm sinking the boot in to Kearney, I might as well go one more and put a steel-cap in the ribs of the Warriors. From over the dutch, my impression has always been that the absolute cream of the talent, who are willing to put in every ounce of effort, play Union. If you have the talent, but would rather coast on that instead of put in 110%, you play League. That's been the impression on the organisation as a whole, and of course that's probably unfair, because it doesn't account for absolute troopers like Mannering who have and will continue to bleed for the club. Going back to Corvo, he is the sort that instills not just the physical edge, but that mental edge. Instead of rolling over when it gets tough, from reports you guys have been gutsing it out and sticking to the plan this year. Obviously Green is a factor in that too.
So, Blair. He was largely not wanted by BHQ when he first came to us, but he proved is wrong at the time. Defensively he was a rock, and while he wasn't a big-numbers player, the extra efforts he put in to decoys, pressuring kickers, and tightening up the ruck was decisive in our run to the GF in 2015. From mid 2016 he started declining and he was almost a liability last year. He seems to have hit the ground running with you guys, I just hope he keeps it up for you.
It starts with no league or restricted league participation in schools here but I wont bore you with the details.
Interesting hear about Kearney and Blair. Kearney copped the same criticism last year, it seems he has learned this year.
Blair wasn't wanted here either, so far we've inherited the 2015 Bronco Blair, hes been a machine.
It's just as hard for us to believe what we are seeing, these blokes put under pressure just play harder and get on with it.
