This may not have been our best game but WOW, our commitment on defence is admirable, it reminds me of the Kiwis team when we went three in a row over Australia.
I've waited so long for a Warriors team to play the full 80 and be 100% committed and even if we start to drop games, as long as we keep playing the same, I will be happy.

The clock isn't normally stopped while kicks are being taken - I was rather annoyed that it was this time. I'm guessing we took too long to make a decision and the refs decided we were just time wasting.

Also it does stop them scoring a converted try and then taking the 2 to level up if they get the opportunity

The clock stops when there is less than 5 minutes remaining in either half

Watched the replay last night.

Some of the Cowboys defence in the second half was as desperate as I have seen from a team this year.

Make no mistake, they were up for that game. Their attack may have been a bit clunky but we should take great pride in winning what amounted to being a very tough game.

Just athought about the double header concept in the weekend.

The NRL had to plan this from a long way back. I think they showed good thinking.

Warriors were widely predicted to be bottom dwellers so low crowd numbers could be anticipated.

What other teams would help. The Storm as Premiers and the Tigers as they have a Kiwi presence.

Things didnt pan out as the experts said but good on the NRL for forward thinking.

It actually came about from ATEED relinquishing the 5th (and final year) of their Nines contract.

Mathew Johns hates the Warriors because it is NZ, Hindmarsh hates the Warriors because of Kearney. No way will they get any traction because of that.

Why does Hindy have beef with SK?

Agree 30 sec too short but have to cater to the majority viewing audience being NSW based, although does that mean the Cows only got 30 sec also?

To be fair, they gave not much more than 30 seconds to all games. Obviously, with James Graham and Sam Burgess as guests, their games get a bit more.

It's an entertainment show. If you want some decent review of our game, watch Big League Wrap on Tuesday - we got a really good wrap last week and I would expect another this week

Obviously an Aussie show catering to their predominantly Aussie audience...

They did a joke skit of Matty Johnz going with the dickhead who isn't hindmarch or tallis ( not going to put any effort into recalling his name...oh Fletcher) ...going to watch a Roosters game.

They film them dressed posh sitting in an empty stadium....they meet minicello there.

They roll footage of the Warriors carving up and John's shouts ' go the Roosters' as if that's the game they are at.

Then they say see you Matty we gotta go to beat the rush ' but the games still on'...

Yeah it wasn't funny.. but part of the laugh was meant to be getting a hiding from the Wazzas.

I think the main reason people like me hang around for scraps and tid bits from Aus is that our own media suppression of League interest is tenfold as bad.

I listen to Radio sport a lot in the hope of some informed local league stories ( though I have barely tuned in this year tbf, after a decade plus of enjoying an hour or more daily during the NRL).

Your best chance there is Budge and Kemp. You don't hear a lot from them.

I miss Mac.

If you were a new immigrant to NZ and you tried to learn our sports scene, you would think Snow boarding is a much bigger sport than League.

We are at five Wins.

It is now the sports story of the year...how come I know more about Nico Porteus than Tohu Harris, Blair Pulu Paasi and Green combined.

This is the Godam NRL...Harris is carving a SBW like figure on field...if Stephen K was an Aussie our suck up media would be lined up outside his door.
.
I think the worst thing about RS and SKY is that they don't actually have the expertise to talk about the product

I notice SKY recently stopped screening the full Warrior replays days later in the middle of the night....the Cowboy game got re aired in a 9pm time slot.

Ok so we have been shithouse...but that's no excuse for playing Super Rugby replays all over SKY and screening every other NRL teams replays in better time slots.

Radio sport need to wake up and play the Warriors on the Radio as a priority....the story is at the point where every neutral is enjoying being part of the story.

Sorry going off topic but when I tune in after games to avoid the SKY borefest panel I get some game no one hardly cares to Radio listen to.

If anyone knows how to get Aussie radio recordings of Games could you PM me ?

I have been trying to find full replays ( which is another reason I am pissed off with RS) not having games on the radio I could on demand listen after.

5:57 mins in Sterlo gives some nice praise for our guys over the roosters game.

I think a lot of media commentators have gone on record saying so much terrible stuff about our chances that they really have no option but to try and avoid the subject. Another win could break the silence and force a few people to eat their words.

Beastmode will have to get the T Sauce out, over his comments about SK, if we beat the Broncos this weekend that's for sure.;) Matty Johns and co are in exactly the same boat IMO.

Well, I'm actually a big fan of taking the two when on offer in most instances. The kick should chew up 30 seconds to a minute plus you then get the ball back. Particularly with the refs blowing a few in the first few rounds you are almost certain you will get another one. Couple of penalties are the same as a try. Also it is not easy getting repeat sets, get it wrong and the opposition get a 7 tackle set from the 20. Instead make them have to tackle some more then have to turn around and get back to work the ball out.

I'm also keen on taking the 1 point before halftime if its on.

One of the Aussie panelists Yvonne ? Mentioned that teams who have been taking the two points on offer...have been winning games.

Other league experts are still in catch up mode around the NRL game being a different game this year.

Our ability to get quick PTBs ( thanks to Brett O'Farrell) puts that extra bit of pressure on teams to push their luck, especially in the period where Tevanga and Lisone are fresh and doing most of the running.

You're right, there is a good chance of getting 2 precious points twice in a short period...good coaches have worked out it all adds up.

I remember when some of the best minds in league thought that bringing NZ rugby Kickers over to Aus was a waste of money....by the time Halligan peaked they were gagging for it.

Ten point Lead means that at least one of the opposition conversions has to go over...that is all added pressure.

Ten points versus eight points is that little added confidence for our lot...that little reward for working it down to their end...that settling feeling and quick rest for a side that can tackle you out of the contest for five minutes....make that four when you are going to get the ball back.

I totally agree that it is an entertainment show... Anyway I just love our team flying under the radar.. still Winning! (Manly seem to do it nearly every year)

I'm more concerned about the NZ Herald online (from here in Aus anyway!)
The League News seems to be stuck on news from a week ago! What's going on there?

It's a nice stroke of the ego when they're praising us in the Australian media but if we are ignored or dismissed it makes us even more dangerous.

The thing that gets you to the finals isn't the amount of mentions or likes throughout the year, it's wins on the field.

I have watched Matty Johns since he signed with Fox and had his own gigs. He doesn't "hate the Warriors", in fact he used to regularly tip us for the top 4. And like many others he has stated that a strong Warriors side is good for rugby league in general. But the club has become such a laughing stock that we've become easy whipping boys, and we have noone else to blame but ourselves. The last 6 years have been an absolute farce from the Warriors, starting from the top down. Some of the coaching, recruitment and retention decisions have been amongst the worst in the club's history, that combined with the fact that the culture of the place was clearly an absolute joke. Does anyone here remember how much shit Souths copped during their years of shite performances? They copped much worse than we have, and they're a Sydney based club with years of heritage behind them.

We've won 5 games, that does not erase years of rubbish. You don't just get given respect, you earn it with your performances on and off the field, and this club has failed in both areas - hence it is not surprising the reactions we get from the league media in general. This year is a strong start in terms of undoing that poor opinion, but it needs to be sustained. I for one am still sceptical, so I don't expect non-supporters of the club to be any different.

I reckon he'd rather being part of a winning squad and last the season than have to go back to what he's been used all these long, wasted years.
People keep talking as though he wasnt a real part of those long wasted years. Please remember for most of it he was the captain.

But yes i bet he does prefer being in a winning team. I especially love that its a vocal winning team as that has been my biggest bitch since the end of the Cleary days.

in a winning game i always think of it as padding the end of year for and against. if its a penalty late in the game and you're ahead a kick should only be taken if it is guaranteed to cross the upright, . There are other time wasters that are as good, but if the kick is on your stamping your authority and saying were just that much better than you.

Matty Johns takes the piss out of everyone- including himself.

In fact I’d say all Aussies take cheap shots at each other just for laughs. We’re not immuned from that and righty so.

In my eyes no one “hates” the Warriors. They frustrate everyone because they always underperform.

We are not a threat to them. No yet...

I will cherish the day when the discussion becomes “ how do we beat the warriors....”
