I got pissed off at one the TV interviewers last night. I don't like the Warriors being asked questions or being probed for comments along the lines of "we have arrived" or "we have accomplished a goal".

Stink Interviewer: "So Adam Blair did you ever dream it might be possible to go 5-0 isn't this incredible".
Adam Blair "I never thought it would be possible - it is a great feeling."

We want our guys focused one game at a time. They haven;t accomplished jack shit at this stage, their 100% winning record notwithstanding. Last year the team got 7 wins - so from that perspective they haven't caught up to the 2017 number of wins yet.

When we go 8-0 and pass last year's performance then lets have a quiet one.

When we crack the magic number of wins for the post season then let's celebrate a bit.

Until then I wish these reporters wouldn't pump up our tires.

There are still lots of mistakes being made. However, I divide mistakes into positive and negative categories.

Using Kata as the example. His penalty for flopping was positive. He was trying to slow the play the ball near their line. Bit unlucky I thought but I can cop that one.

Being bundled into touch with a low percentage run up the short side near our line was a negative penalty.

We have to be patient and realise these negative mistakes will continue, this team is a work in progress. They are human

What about Fusitua being tipped up past the horizontal while in mid air ? Winterstein should have been sited.
Thurston managed to have a good old whinge ar the Ref on that one....I mean what is there to argue ?

I heard the Ref say ' yes the same will apply to them down the other end '

Still we cant complain, 8 penalties in a Mat Cechen game and no send off is home advantage plus massive occasion for the NRL effect.

Good point, it's easy to be critical.

We have progressed from committing the same errors repeatedly in games.

Tend to see the players make adjustments after a stuff up....the old Warriors would be capable of being taken over the side line twice no worries.

I was interested to see the Cows score against our left edge right before half time....we numbered up well, watching the replay you realise we did repel at least three goes at that move. That is one of the Cows specials anyway, Feldt airborne in the corner after rapid spread to the absolute edge has beaten plenty of good defences 1st time round.

Mannering tried to turn the ball back on the inside to Johnson, Thurston interrupted it with a attempted intercept.
Mannering is a bit clunky and often gives up a error with that stuff...I didn't want him passing, but it was the right idea...happy to see Mannering keep trying...you got a have some faith in people when the teams going good. Tohu Harris will find himself increasingly heavily marked ( nice to see Shaun Johnson and Hiku wise up to that and lay on passes direct to Fusitua).

Just on our defence, the chasing from the inside out has been remarkable (Blair and Harris have been incredible) the old master Thurston tried to catch those guys out by reversing the angle with a runner aimed at the outside shoulder of defenders who are angling inward...the change of stance on a dime and diving back against the direction you were headed has been unreal.

Johnson is tackling like a hooker he is a whole story of his own.

Lastly I was pleased with Simon's leg drive post contact, we didn't lose anything there.

Hi

I am still new so have a question for the group. Why did we take the second penalty shot at goal to go ten points in front. The clock was stopped while he took the shot so it didn’t help from that point of view. Why not do a set of six in their red zone just to chew up a minute instead of slotting the two points ( if the clock was stopped while he kicked it)

It gave the boys time to huddle as a team, use their breathing techniques and compose themselves

They did it against the roosters ie take the two when leading by 20 which pissed Blocker Roach. I think he joked “ a team that breaths together wins t...”

10 points also means 2 tries and a conversion ahead

Well, I'm actually a big fan of taking the two when on offer in most instances. The kick should chew up 30 seconds to a minute plus you then get the ball back. Particularly with the refs blowing a few in the first few rounds you are almost certain you will get another one. Couple of penalties are the same as a try. Also it is not easy getting repeat sets, get it wrong and the opposition get a 7 tackle set from the 20. Instead make them have to tackle some more then have to turn around and get back to work the ball out.

I'm also keen on taking the 1 point before halftime if its on.

2 points to take it out to more than 2 converted tries to win, added bonus as we likely receive the kickoff and a full set to chew up the clock

The clock isn't normally stopped while kicks are being taken - I was rather annoyed that it was this time. I'm guessing we took too long to make a decision and the refs decided we were just time wasting.

Also it does stop them scoring a converted try and then taking the 2 to level up if they get the opportunity

Just athought about the double header concept in the weekend.

The NRL had to plan this from a long way back. I think they showed good thinking.

Warriors were widely predicted to be bottom dwellers so low crowd numbers could be anticipated.

What other teams would help. The Storm as Premiers and the Tigers as they have a Kiwi presence.

Things didnt pan out as the experts said but good on the NRL for forward thinking.
