I was sitting in the crowd at Mt Smart about 15 years ago and Lady Gnome remarked to me that the young kid in the suit sitting with the other players not in the team was "too skinny to ever be a league player".

That young man was Simon Mannering, which just goes to show that my wife knows fuck all about fucking anything.

P.S. who else remembers the gangster suits from the Tony Kemp era?

Team named for #Mannering300
Milestone man Simon Mannering will be centre stage in an unchanged starting line-up for his historic 300th NRL appearance when the Vodafone Warriors face Canberra in their final regular season match at Mount Smart Stadium on Friday (8.00pm kick-off).

In his 14th and final first-grade campaign one-club Mannering – who turned 32 today – will become the first player to appear in 300 matches for the club, just the 34th to reach the mark in the competition’s 100-year history and only the 16th to do so for a single club.

He’ll again be at loose forward with Tohu Harris confirmed to start in the second row after initially being listed on the bench for his comeback appearance in last Friday night’s impressive 36-16 win over Penrith.

Playing the team with the most massive pack in the comp........makes sense to meet fire with fire and select the smallest bench in the comp.

I would prefer Pulu in there somewhere but would guess that looking at the selections the plan is to run them off their feet. Will work if we get our share of possession and don't make any mistakes.
We will need to absorb a lot of early forward pressure and the old one run up hit up attack plan won't cut it this Friday.
Looking forward to a good performance and therefore a win this Friday with a home semi the prize.
Lots riding on this game.

The Truth

They NRL want to limit interchanges to tire players and make the game more open.
Kearney does it to his own team by choice.
It’s not smart SK. I know you think it offers you a point of difference but we don’t need it. We can beat any team on the day without playing a 2 forward pack bench. Just give the guys a chance.
