I agree - but 2 points for the Dogs off a complete bs penalty. Worse still we let in a soft penalty off the next set.

Based on that performance we're definitely not a top 4 side, and will most likely finish 7th or 8th, which would probably be a fair reflection.
The most frustrating part was that we put no pressure on Lewis all game and basically just let him run riot!
The good part about the final 2 rounds is that the Tigers play on the Thursday night both weeks, followed by our games on the Friday. We'll at least know where we stand in advance.
One win seals it though.

Blake knew he would give away a penalty as it just looked like it had come off a warrior hand.

I wonder if it would have been poissible for him to hover next to the ball and immediately tackle whatever dog player came along and picked it up.

I guess a high risk strategy that could have seen then score 6 points so probably he discounted that.

Question: I have watched for a long time and know the game pretty well but not perfect. Can someone explain to me why we are the only team in the comp who never manages to create an overlap where the winger just falls over? What are we not doing?

Also how many tries have been scored against us when the player is tackle 1 metre out and they stretch out and score with 5 players around them. So frustrating!

There is no possible way this amazing group of players could fall at the last hurdle and miss the 8, no way!

The most frustrating part for me was a patch in the middle where for about 3 consecutive sets, all of the hit ups were done by our backs - forwards were nowhere to be seen. Even Blocker commentated on it.

It's great that our 1-5 can get our sets started, but where are our forwards lining up for a run? Other teams all seem to have a maniac or two who will always be up for a charge - the Burgii, Fifita/Gallen, Klemmer.

Unsure if it's laziness, lack of mongrel, bad bench rotations or something else but I'm sick of seeing Roger Tuivasa-Sheck having to take a 3rd tackle run when we're 20 out from our own line!

its what happens when you carry the bench we do. It has to show somewhere eventually and those sets are where the forwards who are not being rotated like other teams manage to get a bit of breath back

When you have two forwards that are better passers of the ball than your backs (Blair and Tohu Harris) there is something really shit about your backline and they will never out shift the ball and beat a defensive line.

They know they are no good so they run a step too far to make the passes as short as possible.

The man catching the ball often does so at head height or has to pause.

We don't tend to run a lot of fancy block plays like the other teams, which creates the overlap to draw and pass when you get it right. Our attack also seems to angle to the sideline a lot and everyone gets run out of room, it's not direct enough and noone straightens it up. Thats what I see anyway, wether right or wrong.

Like has been mentioned it does connect to lack of direct dominant running imo.

Needing Shaun Johnson to crab sideways like Dufty pisses me right off.

When the middles are dominating, it draws extra defenders in at least one spot = easy overlap.

When are we going to accept that our million dollar man is complete unfulfilled potential. He is good for a freak play every now and then. His bombs are too deep, his touch finders are to short, his conversions are not consistent, he only steps up if there is a chance of him winning it by himself.

Our boy is NEVER going to deliver. Most over-rated half in the game. We have paired him up with so many halves and fullbacks, but we always blame them. Blake is doing it pretty much on his own, while crab boy is running in circles.

Look at his results. We got to a grand final, but he only contributed from round 15. We have never made a final since. Everyone produces phenomenal form in their first season. We have thrown $1m at a quick donkey.

If we do well in the finals, it will be in spite of Johnson.

Man we are missing Tohu Harris Harris. Our backrowers offer very little and our front rowers go AWOL a lot!

Its easy to go AWOL when you are sitting on the bench because Jazz Tevaga is seen as indispensable in the middle for some reason.

I get and share your point but Mr. Crab aka Luckiest groin in the country. Mr. Bank account guy. Mr. Potential.

He like most halves need a platform to play off. I like to call it forward dominance.

He's de-powered or tuned back to being a kicker on the back of poor go forward.

The stupidest moment of the game was when we tackled Klemmer fair and square but he wanted a penalty for some reason so they blew the whistle and gave him one.

Anyways Dogs were always going to be harder than New Castle. They also committed few errors and in the first half had a 90% completion rate.

BEale committed two errors. What was he doing on the bomb try. Why did he take so long to tackle Morris.

what was that penalty for? i remember it at the time and thought then, why?
