Damn we played exciting. We have strike everywhere.
Whoever comes up against us when everything clicks (Bulldogs semi 2003) are in for a serious spanking.
The cynic in me says we could just as easy have a shocker where everything goes to shit...you know the drill..offloads not sticking clumsy dumb dumb warrior play etc..
But our focus, spirit and fitness is next level atm, like we haven’t seen for donkeys..
so fuck yeah, someone, sometime soon is going to get their asses handed to them courtesy of The Warriors!

Haven’t caught up with all the news so not sure how he is, but gutted for Papali’i.
Bring on the Green Machine.

The antidote for having an off night is:

ALEX CORVO

I'm getting worried. We have started with such a hiss and a bang, that my hopes are soaring through the roof.

Are we going to crash and burn, and if so will it hurt so much more with all of this optimism?
I don't think we are going to crash and burn., In fact I think the best is yet to come. The errors and mistakes are blips on a clear developing pattern on both attack and defence. The only thing that can stop this side making the finals is a massive injury count, a risk every club faces. Hooker would be the major risk.

Last year I was one of the biggest critics of the club, and certain players like Isaac Luke. The team has been transformed and right now Luke is back to being one of the best in the NRL. Not only Luke but the forwards are a tough pack, not the pussies of last season. This is freeing up a very good backline.

It is mind boggling to think that last year we were playing guys in first grade pack who were only reserve grade standard. Now we have Mannering to come back, and Albert Vete, who if his form matches the improvement of Sam Lisone and Bunty Afoa is very exciting.

Fasten your seatbelts guys. Certainly top eight, maybe top four, who knows.

we look like we can score from anywhere, circa 2011

a couple of better options and we would have put 30+ on them

im not getting carried away but hey, supported the side for 23 years, why stop now !

Handling can improve. Passing can improve.

Eg - Roger Tuivasa-Sheck couldn't take Bunty's pass after he broke the line.

Fusitua could have had a 3rd try if Hiku had passed the ball a fraction earlier and right on Fusitua's chest. Then he would have had a better shot at beating the cover D.

Otherwise they are going quite well so far.

Train em hard Mr. Corvo

I have only watched one training run, but what really impressed me was the standard of handling, and there appeared to be a genuine expectation on handling. That pass of Bunty's was a front rower going at full speed trying a difficult pass. His job is to make metres and tackle, he can be forgiven for that but Kearney will be working on it, the same as Hiku's effort. I thought Hiku had a very sound game.

Thought we played really well. Few points from the game

-Players look way more focused than last year. No heads down after conceding or making a mistake.
-Forwards are a lot more menacing this year. Blair probably has a lot to do with that
-Harris makes things happen almost every time down on the right.
-Roger Tuivasa-Sheck is just a fucking beast
-Johnson looks way more comfortable not having to do everything but come on make your kicks.

In saying that there are still some things they need to work on which I think will come in time. I counted 2 missed opportunities, 1 was Afoa breaking away, looking left and still not passing while the other was Fusitua wide open on the right but he didn't get the ball. Can't remember now who missed it. There was also an opportunity late in the game where it looked like Copley's shoulder popped out and we were on our 1st or 2nd tackle but went left towards the middle every time. If that was Smith or JT out there you just know that weak point would have been identified and the ball gone straight wide out right for an easy try.

All in all though great performance. Hopefully we go 3-1 or 4-0 by the time the double header comes round. Should be a packed house.

Warriors first set of game was a disgrace....But they settled into the game, and played a good brand of footy with solid defense. and with the travel etc from rd 1 you have to be happy with that.

Tohu Harris Harris is gem. And a genuine attacking threat down that right edge. A backrower who can ball play, And square up his marker, thwack him with a shimmy and get on his outside and get there center to turn his shoulder in to commit to Tohu Harris is $$$$$$$ not many forwards out there who can do that

Warrios attacking shape looking less predictable too....not so reliant on the out the back play with a sweeper, im sure there still tweaking attack structure, and adding other options further into season. that added with the increased offloads and 2nd phase, going to be tough to stop... looking good so far

I'm big on passing....it's such a neglected skill in our game....Tohu Harris was lucky to get away young....the rest is all down to him.

Watching Blake Greens 1st game I saw him nearly get killed catching hospital passes above his head, behind him etc.

At the time I wondered what that realization of being placed in harm's way by your team is like after the sides he has come from.

The other thing of note is with Papalii going off so early and Cook not coming on till the last 10 minutes we practically operated on a 2 man bench.
Coaching staff are obviously way confident in the guys fitness.

Game was scrappy as already pointed out but hey , once the team starts gelling more we will start to see a combination of structure as per the Rabbits game mixed with the offloading.
Nice to see we can play scrappy and still win and who is to say a better team would have capitalised on our scrappy play, we don't know this. For all we know we may have scored a couple of times from our offloading.

We are still a work in progress and after enduring a 9 game losing streak we have the right to be celebrating our 2 from 2 wins.
The game I watched was not scrappy. The Titans are a well coached side. I think Garth Brennan alluded to a different Warriors approach later. The Warriors have usually played brilliantly with patches of dumb play or clocking off. The Aussie clubs bank on it, but it isn't happening. They stuck as much to the game plan as they could, they are still human and had just come back from Perth and were one man down.

We have to realise that they are a work in progress. I think they have a long way to reach 90% of potential. They are making good strides though.

A lack of depth in 2nd Row and Halves is a concern.

It willbe amazing to see this team reaching and exceeding their potential.

On a lighthearted note I'd rather have a lack of depth in the 2nd row than have Red Bull Thompson back.

Perhaps Blair could play lock with Pulu and Harris in 2nd row. Bunty and Lisone as patch em up 2nd rowers with Vete as prop rotation.

I'm not qualifying my perhaps's coz they were plucked proverbially from my proverbial.

Maybe you call scrappy something different.
But when you get ad-lib footy that ends up mostly running sideways before straightening without scoring, it can look scrappy
Hence the reason Blake Greens article of him wanting us to play more direct with better control.
If you compare the difference between our 2 games the Bunnies game was more disciplined and direct first with a bit of ad-lib
The Titans game the Warriors basically played jungle footy from the first set but at times could have been more direct.
Not saying it was a bad thing I would just like them to earn the right before doing the ad-lib stuff.
This in my view will make us a stronger team to deal with.
Our defence has been allowing us to have more control of our games to date.
With Blake Green's article of wanting us to have more control of our game I am looking forward to seeing our game plan vs the Raiders.

One funny thing from the game on the weekend. My phone goes nuts with friends telling me I'm on TV being shown in the crowd. Nothing funny there right. I was sitting in the South Stand looking straight up the field, pretty much looking straight at the big screen. I should have been looking straight at myself. I usually tell people I'm quite observant.

At least I had my serious couch coach face on looking at the game instead of having my face covered in source from too many hot dogs.
