It is an NRL promotion, not the Warriors. They have nothing to do with it except for Jim Doyle liaising between the NRL and ATEED.

It also involves ATEED (the Auckland Council) so there must be some evidence of tourists coming into town for the game. When I first looked to buy tickets pre season I was surprised at how many platinum seats had already been sold (my season platinum for example). So my guess is there are substantial bookings from the visiting clubs.

The double header came about in exchange for ATEED giving up their 5th year of the Nines

Bryce Cartwright ! Bro ! you need to get in the middle and get smashed

too big for a 6, i know he were a fill in for this game, but he has done it plenty of times for the penny panthers

he was running around like he was wrapped in cotton wool.

I was interested to see how Bryce Cartwright would go at the Titans. Mainly as the coach said he wanted an extra ball player in the middle where most clubs use their 13 like an extra front rower.

Most sides copy what ever the successful sides do so it was interesting so see someone try something different. Another coach mentioned doing this as well.

Last week he wasn't very good. I didn't see much of him this week especially from where I was sitting.

What about the offloading!!! Was so happy to see the pill passed around so much. Really stretched the Titans
Where were the cheerleaders??
SKYCITY have canned the whole thing. The cheerleaders were part of their sponsorship arrangement and had nothing to do with the club. Part of the whole grid girl PC movement. Couldn't care personally as I never watched them and enjoy watching the kids play a game. Huge buzz for them and part of the developing the game thing with juniors...

Damn we played exciting. We have strike everywhere.
Whoever comes up against us when everything clicks (Bulldogs semi 2003) are in for a serious spanking.
The cynic in me says we could just as easy have a shocker where everything goes to shit...you know the drill..offloads not sticking clumsy dumb dumb warrior play etc..
But our focus, spirit and fitness is next level atm, like we haven’t seen for donkeys..
so fuck yeah, someone, sometime soon is going to get their asses handed to them courtesy of The Warriors!

Haven’t caught up with all the news so not sure how he is, but gutted for Papali’i.
Bring on the Green Machine.

Just watching the replay. James actively obstructed Shaun Johnson. No doubt so enjoy your breakfast.;)
Bruce, I used to understand the obstruction rule but I no longer do as both attackers and defenders are very cute at manipulating this nowadays. Looking at that again the attacking player runs an arc behind, but well away from, his own player who doesn't move. I don't think the 'blocking' player is under any obligation to get out of the way. I honestly think Johnson cons the ref by running into the 'blocker' when the attacker was running laterally.

Anyhow, no affect on the result. Titans were well beaten

I saw that as an old school shepard, rather than the obstruction rule.

Ball carrier running behind their own player who put Shaun Johnson at a disadvantage and THEN passed it.
As opposed to a decoy runner being in front of both players an a pass going behind him.

Pretty much this but to be fair Shaun Johnson saw it happening and milked the shit out of it(right call but Shaun made sure it was seen)

I’d be more pissed about I think it was the first Titans disallowed try where there was no way our defender was stopping it even if the offending player wasn’t there that was technically correct but common sense sometimes needs to prevail

The way the NRL interpret the rule (as I understand it;)) is that is where the ball is when it is passed behind the blocker. The player must receive the pass beyond the inside shoulder of the blocker.

Fox sports pre game build up featured a piece on Konrads return to Mt Smart Stadium.

Old footage of him in Warriors colours looking like Captain Fatso with his guts hanging out (he forgot to hold it in for one of the clips) brought back a flood of memories about how Konrad and Russel Packer had either:

A) Exemption from being fit because they were a special body type.

B) In Packers case he has cured his foot condition.

C} Fans could not see a dimension where the Warriors first imperative is to use the ball + high intensity super endurance to physically destroy an entire team rather than bowl over one man in a tackle.

I hope we never go back to pandering to the slob mentality.

I hope fans no longer feel the need to make excuses for these people...they are paid huge money to run and pump weights.

Our team culture is clean now.

All the con artists have either seen the light and that tunnel has led them to other teams or they are playing for their contract renewal which is going to cost them come negotiation time.

Rookie Warriors back-rower Isaiah Papali'i will miss a few games with a medial knee injury.

Meanwhile, rookie second-rower Isaiah Papali'i is set to miss a few games after suffering a medial knee injury in the early stages when he was dragged down in a tackle by fill-in Titans halfback Bryce Cartwright and back-rower Kevin Proctor.

The 19-year-old was on crutches and had his right leg in a brace after the match, but was already focusing on working his way back to full fitness.

"It's not too bad," said Papali'i.

"It's disappointing but I'll just work hard on my recovery and try and get back as soon as I can.

"I'm just pleased they got the win. Watching on afterwards I was just happy for the boys."

The first part of the article above is Green's take on the ad-lib style the Warriors are playing and how they need to be more direct before going to it.

NRL: Warriors ad-lib style 'contagious' but five-eighth Blake Green wants better control

New five-eighth Blake Green admits the Warriors exciting ad-lib style is contagious but he'd prefer they played more directly after the erratic 20-8 NRL win over the Titans.

The 31-year-old followed up last week's impressive showing against Souths with another strong performance as he guided the Warriors around the park in the four-tries-to-one win at Mt Smart Stadium.

The former Manly playmaker is comfortable with the style the side is looking to play, but was unhappy with their starts to both halves and feels there are times when they need to be more selective with their offloads.

Awesome to see that article in the herald this morning, exactly what we need to do playing more direct with a little bit more structure will go a long way with this team.
Can't wait to see how we go against Canberra.

I'm getting worried. We have started with such a hiss and a bang, that my hopes are soaring through the roof.

Are we going to crash and burn, and if so will it hurt so much more with all of this optimism?

Yeah it’s getting like that. Do think we’ll have a better gauge this week against Canberra who have played well and been unlucky both weeks.

Of course with every week that passes we’ll know more - let’s wait for Blueys Rd!

Until then jump on and enjoy - the entertainers are back!

Honestly though I was watching a replay from 2010-2011 game.

Locke , Johnson , hohaia , feleti, even felt like lauititi was playing.

Great game fun to watch, as long as they stay competitive and play with that enthusiasm, either result will be acceptable.

Big up warriors let's make a year of it.
