General NRL 2018 Round 19 - General Discussion

If it wasn't Rickys Raiders i might have some sympathy for them ........ but probably not. What bugs me is the leg up the sharks keep getting to win games and stay above us, i dont think it is deliberate but it does smell a little fishy when it keeps happening to the same team.

Classy from Sam Burgess “get up you weak cu**” yelling at a guy you just head highed- then having the cheek to say “well he should go off for a head check then” when told it was a high tackle lol

Burgess not playing the ball and demanding a penalty. So the ref lets him have one. These refs have no balls. You can see what is going to happen tomorrow with the grub Cameron Smith. NRL is becoming such a crap game. It used to be great but it is being ruined more and more by stupid ref calls, inconsistency and incompetency. The refs are becoming more and more prominent in the game. I saw somewhere where the boss said they are there to make a great spectacle. No they are not. I dont want to hear and see them. Keep the game under control and stop it from becoming a free for all. Slowing heading back to just watching the warriors games because watching league is becoming too frustrating.

Yeah, saw that - it was like he wasn't gonna play the ball unless he got a penalty, what a tool Burgess is and what tools the refs are for letting him do it - bring in Bill Harrigan to be in charge of the refs - Suttons a useless prick.

Impressive from the Tigs tonight, Bunnies looking vulnerable tonight let’s hope it knocks their confidence going forward

That game shows you how close the league is.

There's only 4 points separating the top 8, get all your key players fit and get into some good form and anyone can win it imho.

Love seeing Souths lose...even better when that sook Burgess loses!!!

I suspect however that the Tigers are closing in on the Warriors for that 8th place... and they look to have a pretty easy ride home!

Tigers are below average without Farah and he may be out for a while after that head knock he took. I guess the reports in the next 24 hours will tell us

He and not Marshall is their talisman

Fk cowboys are useless.
havent even bothered watching them. Though i thought the tigers were entertianing and only ment to have it on in the background i ended up watching the whole game bar 15 mins when the bunnies scored in the second half.

That is nice of Ladbrokes..an online betting agency.
Refunding punters who backed the Raiders on Friday night
And also willing to pay Ricky Stuarts fine that may occur.

The referees boss has apologised & said two decision where wrong
The Touchy has also been stood down.

NRL referees boss Bernie Sutton has confirmed Canberra received two incorrect calls by officials, which all but ended the club’s finals hopes and potentially robbed them of about $200,000 in September earnings.

Sutton called Stuart to inform him Cronulla winger Sione Katoa should never have been awarded a try after a touch judge raised his flag to signal a knock-on on Friday night. Canberra players stood around waiting to pack a scrum when they saw the flag raised, only for Katoa to play on and stroll across the try line untouched.

Canberra were then denied a try to Brad Abbey after officials ruled a forward pass, which also proved to be the wrong call, Sutton admitted yesterday.

Fairfax Media can reveal it was not the first time Sutton contacted Stuart this season to admit referees had made incorrect decisions that ultimately cost the Raiders two competition points. Similar conversations are understood to have taken place in the early rounds.

The fallout from Cronulla’s 28-24 win also prompted sports betting company Ladbrokes to take the extraordinary step of refunding punters who had backed the Raiders in head-to-head markets as a show of good faith.

‘‘Our clients are pretty disenchanted with the bunker, and we didn’t think it was fair people who backed Canberra lost,’’ Ladbrokes chief executive Jason Scott said.

Ladbrokes was also prepared to pay any fine Stuart may have incurred when he questioned the contentious calls after the match, spoke about fans deserting the game, the relevance of the bunker and why referees had too many people in their ear.

Wow, things must be pretty bad when Ladbrokes are refunding. This may just be the straw that broke Suttons back.

Surely it is time with so many bad calls affecting games (particularly putting Sharks well into finals unfairly, and costing Canberra any hope of finals) that the NRL weighs up the option of over-ruling specific outcomes.

In the Canberra game, its irrelevant whether the touchie got the call right or wrong. An official made a call, and everyone stopped because of it. As far as im concerned, that was enough to stop the play. Whether it was actually a knock on is not the question. The touchies are "officials". If they flag a play, players should be able to react to that call. Not just wait for refs whistle. Ref decided to use bunker to check, hence not blowing his whistle, which was very wrong. Even Sharks had stopped.

It's unbelievable;ievable how Sharkies have been the beneficiary of two dubious wins - over us in Round 16 and now the Raiders - wish they could be docked 4 competition points the cheating c**ts.
