That's the way I see it. Stephen Kearney is backing his horse. Kearney clearly see's something in the Hiku that he believes will eventually pay dividends. Much in the same way Ivan Cleary backed Manu Vatuvei in 2007 after his absolute shocker against the Eels. Trust is such a huge element in any team type environment.

TBH I'm about miffed by Hiku's selection but a large part of it may have been Ken Maumalo being injured. Losing two starting edge players may have been too much of a gamble for Mooks.

Anthony Gelling isn't exactly a defensive rock and the David Fusitua/Blake Ayshford hasn't been tested all season.

I honestly hope Hiku has a blinder. For his, Kearneys and us miserable cu**s sake...
Or how he backed Ken M when everyone was calling for his head etc.
Have to agree with you.
Kearneys one for consistency and combinations.
I actually think he's quite modest and humble when he does media. People just seem to think he's a bumbling tool.

This is a great post Mt. Wellington. I guess Hiku is the warriors centre. Period.

If you aren't going to replace him after last week's debacle then you are probably never going to replace him.

Beale was obviously brought here not to be a starter then, but was brought here to be a very competent injury cover/utility/depth player. Strange use of salary cap in my opinion. If Beale isn't going to be a starting centre then I would rather have spent the money on another prop. Especially when we already had Ayshford and eventually Gelling in the mix as injury cover.

In my Humble opinion the Warriors would be somewhere between 50 -80 points better off on the points differential had Peta Hiku not played this season. He is the sole reason why we have been crap in that department instead of average.

I agree, the fact we were winning meant we were lenient on his dog shit defense. Now we aren't winning people aren't so forgiving.

I would Imagine Beale, Hiku and gelling were all bought and brought here to duke it out for the spot. Reliable as Aysh is he's not anything to rate. It's just Hikus good outweighs the bad in SKs opinion and he knows hiku is capable if being better. Beales injuries also set him way back.
To say we would have been better defensively without hiku on the field is one thing , but offensively ? Would we be in the position we are if he hadn't of set Fusitua up with those fucking sexy flicks?

He may have been involved in more tries just due to the way that they count it, but officially he only has three try assists in 16 games and is tied for 55th in the league on this stat. The much maligned for not passing Kata has 2 try assists by way of comparison.

As has been posted three times before Hiku has missed 55 tackles this season and is 4th in the league on this stat.

But what highlights that performance more is that Kata has missed 13 tackles and is tied for 214th on this stat.

Beale has played 6 games and has missed 7 tackles.

Gelling has played 6 games and has missed 6 tackles.

Just want to say I love QLD. How is that relevant to this weekends game? Fuck knows

Beale was signed on reasonable money to cover presumably center, however he has largely been a utility like Kearny has been using him.
Hiku and Gelling were both chance signings. They were both unhappy in super league contracts and wanted out.
I doubt they were planned for.

Kearney just said that the team will be more physical this week because they thought the panther would be an easy game

The guy is a dead set tool. This team is not going to go anywhere with him as coach.
Kearney said in the interview before the Panthers match ,there was no Complacency in the team. Question, would he know? His Bench use and selections scream of Complacency.

Hey warriors brothers, I'm going to the game on the weekend with my son, does anyone know where the Warriors supporters will be? I.e. what bay? Ticketek doesn't tell me. I want to be in the Warriors away bay.

Bay 324 and 325.

In 2015 under Cappy at the same stage of the season we had 9 wins. Our for and against was also a lot better. Lets not act like Kearney has achieved anything yet. We went on to lose every game from there in 2015. If we fail to make the 8 does Kearney get the sack?

Jazz plays with more GRIT than 90% of the team, his value is undervalued..
I think you are bang on. I think that is exactly what he is there for. He is sent out as a role model. Not the best, not the most talented, but the hardest slogger. Im sure I recall mention from Kearney in preseason of the leadership and commitment of Jazz. I assume Kearney knows he will never die wondering. Pound for pound he is one of the most commited players. One of Wayne Bennetts players you need to make room for. I dont know what position is his ideal, but I believe Kearney sends him out to lift the intensity of everyone else. My guess is he is one of many players in our squad who offers something at lock. But unfortunarely, we have many players who seem to best fill the lock roll is some way, and loss something in another position. Jazz, Adam Blair, Simon, even Lisone all have individual skills best suited to that spot. We cant put them all there. Kearney has decided that Jazz will give his all no matter where he puts him.

God knows what in the actual fuck he sees in Hiku.

What I want to know is how Sao gets dropped for Vuna. Vuna is another undersized forward. FU Kearney for ruining what was a greay start to the year. He has gone away from everything that was working back to what we were doing last year. He cant help himself.
