I knew in my gut I had the roosters game wrong and they would do another broncos on us, I had us by a try so I guess at least I didnt predict a big win. This game I knew we had the defensive style to beat the Eels, who are playing very good football to only be 2/4 in the last 4 games losing by 2 their prior game. Im very happy though that we won, but Im glad people overall gave this a B. So many games this year Ive seen A's when I think we could have played significantly better. I guess the warriors winning is just all a bit much for a club thats been starved of winning for so long. So can we win 5 more games this year? :) 5/11 in the 8. I think 9/11 minor premiers. Nice to be getting a gap from the trailing bunch even if the Panthers and their easy draw continues. Now all we need is the radars to beat the dragons which imo is very possible. Yay warriors. woot.

Hey guys is there anywhere I can watch the game replay in NZ? I try my NRL account and it says Im geo blocked. Even with a flappn DNS.

Really?
They are at the arse of the table for a good reason, they are playing shite football.
Are you serious have you watched their last 4 games. This is why warriors lose games like the Roosters, they look at the ladder, not the team and their ability.

yeah 2 and 8, but they lost by 2 last week and played ok against us. They wont finish on spoon.

I have to say it, and its not a Lino vs Johnson thing. But flap he had a whale of a game. That first pass to set up the first try was sensational. Then hes in every tackle for a full set, chasing people round like hes Energiser Bunny. Then he kicks the conversion from the sideline. Again 4/5 kicks. This game it wouldnt have cost us, but we do need our conversions as they win games that would other wise be close. 18-14 sounds a lot closer than the final score and can give the other team the belief they can chase it down.

I hope Johnson comes back 100% and instead of doing this right hand side passing to Fusitua, we start to see someone breaking the line (Johnson) often. Of course that right edge is always an option.

Another thing we need is people backing up, we got nobody in the top 5 yet we lead offloads comfortably.

Our best start to a season ever, I think we will make the top 4. I think our problem is looking at the ladder and taking wins like when the broncos were down and out desperate, like when the storm had lost their first few games but put on 40 the game prior to us, like when the roosters were still floundering to get it together and we were favs. I think there is a slight lapse in intensity at times, its hard, its a long season, but thats the type of team we need, one that doesnt loose to good teams who are struggling. Souths will be an interesting challenge.

Oh I got my replay going (have the pass from Lino in the first try on a gif loop on my screen just over and over and over, Lino>Johnson rofl, Im joking, no flaming ;-p)

Hehe i hoped that would get a giggle.

One thing Im noticing is, why are the refs so damn hard on us for the first 20 minutes then they stop, its like, hey here are the warriors they must deserve penalties.

I think we are the most penalised club in the comp since joining. Some funky stat anyway, I forget. Im not conspiracy theorist but we havnt had one game where they target the opposition. The pick on us for things that are so inconsequential, it gets frustrating.

Have you watched them play?
Their attack in the 20 has been abysmal all year. Their forwards have been uninspired and lacking in any killer instinct.
Yes, I have watched them... I watch every game every week and they are shithouse.

I agree but I think their last 4 weeks has been pretty good compared to the rest of the season. they have lifted. and yes i watch their games too.

If we didnt have this right edge with fusitua, we would be much the same, this is my main concern. We have no players in motion, we have no players running reverse angles with aggression. its a fine line between top and bottom in the nrl. all teams are full of class players. you cant right any team off just because they havnt had it together prior.

Who is our player with killer instinct?

they are a team that started the season expecting to be in the mix for a premiership and got a major shock in the first few rounds when they realised they actually had to do a shitload more than turn up to win.
They are a soulless lot who don't play for each other, the second and third efforts are not there and I don't see it changing. Their halves are flat track bullies who crumble under pressure and their leaders are old and broken.

I don't see anything in their first 11 games that suggests to me they will be anywhere except the foot of the table come the finals.

It's a knock on.

The Ref was actually a cheat. That play crossed over from the incompetence level....from the bias level to someone deciding * I don't like you people.
how can it be a knock on when he threw it backwards?

Not the greatest of games, but anything that takes us to 8 - 3 is fine by me. And remember when we couldn't win a damn game away from home? Now we're 4 - 1 : YES!

Should the margin have been bigger? Maybe. The Eels are a team that despite the evening effect of the salary cap look underpowered, are error-prone, take the wrong options and are short on attacking ideas, are low on confidence, and are playing even worse than we were at the low points of the past few years. So that kinda suggests we should have won big, plus we were coming off a big loss and that generally fires teams up. On the other hand cornered sides like the Eels playing for their season (which must be gone for good now) can raise their game on the day and bite you. Plus of course we were missing Shaun and Roger Tuivasa-Sheck. All up, this was a game we were always likely to win. But we still had to go out and win it, so full marks for getting on with it, but you'd reckon a lot of other teams will be racking up the two points against the Eels, too.

Individuals? Our first sight of Beale - yes, good stuff, and adds to the D, no question. Hiku at full back - didn't know what to expect, but it worked, bar that mistake around the 60 minute mark getting bundled into touch which led to an Eels try. And Lino stood up again as he did earlier in the season when Shaun wasn't available. Paasi is effective. Issac just gets better and better, we're seeing the guy who was hugely impressive for the Rabbitohs doing the same for us. Time to get Mannering playing the 80 again, too good to be warming the bench.

Green marshalled the team very well. When we talk about the spine, a lot of the spotlight goes on the stars at 1, 7 and 9, but not enough on 6, and I thought Blake did really well tonight. I particularly liked his long touch finders, they gain us a lot of metres.

Also liked it when Fusitua and Maumalo take early carries after scrums: those guys are effectively another pair of forwards. And if Fusitua isn't the top try scorer in the NRL at the end of the season, I'll be mightily surprised.

Now need to break this WLWLW pattern and get our heads back into that WWWWW mentality we had at the beginning of the season. We showed some mental toughness when we were down to 12 men, which was good.

Rolling towards the 8 mates, rolling towards the 8...
thought u nailed the review until i saw your comment about Mannering. Hes good for at least one error per game now, and to do it on the line is unacceptable. Putting him in for 80 mins would be suicide.

Mate you keep rocking that monocle, and my nana won't be the only one going toothless to be with you.

That monocle won't be the only thing rocking. But I'm quite particular with whom I connect. No matter how toothless they be.

Good seeing this again and the team running off the defense line not waiting for the team to arrive to us like last week. Good job.

Whoah that Lino try saving tackle when we were down to 12 before the kick rebounded off mannering, that looked like a try 9/10. Brilliant. Princess would have worried about his groin and let him score hehe. Jokes.

On serious note when Johnson does come back, Lino has had a sensational game again. If we want him to be the reserve half, how do we keep him? Hes going to get a 1st grade offer sooner rather than later.

Beale looked dangerous stepping, and twice had the arm ready to pass, but noone backing up. Thats something we have just stopped doing. backing up gets soooooooo many second phase plays.Guys like Harris, Luke, Beale, you bloody well back up if you are serious.

Flap Beales one on one tackling is insane, the gutherson one was BEAST MODE, but 3 one on ones. awesome.

A think that I note is, when the sin bin players time is up, hes not allowed to just join the field, which lead to us giving away a penalty.

I think when Nathan Brown and Rad Rad Raaaaaaa is back they will be winning more. They have had a good month. I dont think they will be in the 8 but I dont think they will be wooden spoon either.

They lost by 2 last week and were very unlucky. 13 to go in our game and they were in the lead. not like we beat the crp out of them. Could easily be 4 from 4 this last month. Thats how close the comp is.
