Yeah - Mannering being out hurts but injuries during a season are inevitable so the team needs to show the depth it has.

Betting odds have seen the Warriors odds going from $2.35 to $2.60 but still a chance for the team to show why this season is different

Losing Mannering is big blow, obviously. No player matches his defensive strength and work rate. But if there is one position in the team where there is depth, its lock.

I thought he was being lined up to play left edge this season now that Hoffman's gone. I think they'll probably go for Afoa there. If Kata's out as well that edge will effectively be an all new combination with Maumalo & Green - could be worrying. Hopefully they don't stick Gelling in, he was atrocious defending there in the Titans trial.

I think Gelling just needed the trial games to get used to the NRL he will improve an rapidly
He's got experience .So just has to iron out a few kinks
But I'd go for Blake A personally .At the moment .
From the trials though Kata is looking like a beast .
An has shown a willingness to pass .
Could be my new favorite player by playoffs (not including Mannering of course)

Mannering being out is a huge blow. The cards are dealt need to move on.

Where was everyone expecting him to play? In the middle or on the left like the trial?

The middle could be covered via Blair and maybe Afoa. We don't have as much depth for edge backrowers. Papali'i went quite well in the trials so maybe another round 1 start for him. Kata potentially out as well means it's not the left side the coaching staff were hoping for.

Good to have a team naming thread, soon to be followed by a game day one. It's been a long summer.

Wouldn't it be alot easier to slot Pulu into left edge?? Or is he strictly 13?? Otherwise I wanna see Papalii out there. Not a fan of Sao/Afoa's lateral movement in defence, so would rather they're in the middle not edge.

How Kata is there is beyond me - Suppose he is all good if we look past his inability to defend or pass.

Is Ligi Sao a fantasy trap? He played big minutes in the trial, or is he holding the lock spot off Paasi/Mannering..

No one should be surprised really with Kata and Ken. If they don't perform, kick their arses out of the side for good. They got enough chances last year IMO, especially holding out guys like Ashyford and CNK who have out performed them time after time.

Vete must be injured. Good on Papalii, I think he's too green and small, hope he proves me wrong.

Vete is serving a one week ban carrying over from a reserve grade game last year. Its going to be interesting to see if he can force his way into the side for round 2. I'd give him the bench prop spot if Lisone has another ordinary game.

Kata maumalo and papalii on an edge is a bit worrying , but solid really , I imagine bunty will go when mannering returns. Papalii when Paasi returns. Beatles going to have to work hard to displace hiku.

Pretty much as expected I guess, Afoa/Lisone coming on for 2nd prop stint won't strike fear into anyone. Yikes

Not great but not terrible.

I don’t know why I was expecting something different. All the new season hype had me thinking we had a great team. It’s ok.

Rabbits by 12
