Man that was a hard game to get into. Guess that's what happens when one side is so dominant. It was just no contest, the Roosters outstormed the Storm.

Reminded me of our semi against the Panthers. That Roosters swarming defence just pinned them down their end and created some uncharacteristic like Storm errors.....just like us Storm could barely get out of their half. Some of the stuff Shaun Johnson cops is so over the top, that game last night showed when one side is so dominant its really hard for even great players to change momentum......Smith couldn't, Slater couldn't, they had no impact....Munster just lost the plot all together.

Not sure about all the Cronk fappin going on today as well, no doubt he was talking as all halves do.....but it was that swarm D and Luke Keary running all the plays that was the biggest factor.

Chooks we're probably the deserved winners of this years comp, minor prems and all, well coached by Robinson (probably should have got coach of the year)…...still hate them tho. Hate how their the automatic default club for every marquee player coming off contract to be linked with. Another season done n dusted.

Can someone on here help me?

The NRL were, as they do every season, going through all the players who are retiring and even our Mr Mannering got a decent round of applause. Nothing compared to the hollering Mr Thurston got, of course, but not bad.

But there was a guy who they showed in the big screen all shirtless and his name was BOOOOOOOOOO!!! Can any of you folk tell me who this rugby league player was?

Was he the same guy who everyone called BOOOOOOOOOO!! every time he touched the ball, perchance?

Not the best Grand Final I've seen or been to, that'd still be the Cowboys-Broncos game, but not bad.

From what I've read in forums and newspapers over the year, the Roosters, Bulldogs and Sea Eagles seem to me the three Sydney teams everyone who's not a fan of theirs absolutely hates. So it's hard for Sydney to truly get into a "YAY! A Sydney team won the GF!" vibe.

Havnt stopped partying. Rooster v Storm final taken at start of year Roosters for Prem.

you dont win september in May. predicting week to week is senseless.

but to be fair this turned out to be closest season in history. i had roosters, storm, souths, penrith. sharks shocked me a bit but they won a lot of close games, and maloney lost penrith a lot of games.

cronk and teddy to roosters was just too much class. too much defense and offensive explosiveness they put into the spine. conversely the storm are the best team at what we are being molded into. but the key to there offense is game management and hes sitting in the roosters camp this year. tedesco could be the next slater, a FB who does the Roger Tuivasa-Sheck job and the scoring in one, but clearly not the defense as well.

Wht the f munster, surprised smith didnt jump on him and chicken wing the poor bloke as well.

Anyway taken the week off work.

I know he has had a stacked side at the Roosters but Trent Robinson is a coach that flies under the radar a bit when coaches are discussed. Two premierships now since he has been there. Since I have been watching league they have had some good sides and some good coaches go through the club but none really delivering premierships. Stuart got there in his first season on the back of inheriting a strong side and got there the following years as well.

Robinson whenever I hear him speak either after the World Club Challenge where he did the session with the English comentary crew reviewing the game, or NRL 360, or post game his sides always seem well prepared and have plans for different situations.

I know the team naming is a big thing for the journalists and the reasons usually given are around betting and the fans. But was anyone really annoyed that the Roosters said Cronk had a torn rotator cuff instead of a broken scapula?

I can understand if you are gambing so you get as much information as possible. Still it is a gamble not a guarantee.

Sure some of the team naming rules can be cleared up but I didn't have any issues with them covering it. Ok the debate would of been incorrect in terms of speculation on how badly he had torn his rotator cuff when he hadn't.

But this comes off as a journo annoyed that he missed out on a scoop about the injury and missed out on the stories he could of broken around it.

Roosters confess to hundreds of lies in grand final shame

OPINION

Two minutes into the Roosters' grand final post-game press conference, Roosters coach Trent Robinson dropped the bomb.

Flanked by his senior stars Jake Friend, Luke Keary and Cooper Cronk, staring down the barrel of 10 television cameras, surrounded by around 30 reporters and NRL officials, Robinson didn't even flinch as he shamelessly admitted to an entire week of lies.

That's not even the most disappointing part of the 2018 premiers' web of deceit.

Robinson's admission after the game that his team had deliberately lied all through the week about Cronk's shoulder injury is a new low in the game's overt disrespect to its most important stakeholder — the fans.

Robinson revealed after the game that Cooper Cronk's broken shoulder blade injury was shared with his entire playing group the day after their preliminary final win over South Sydney last week — a full week before last night's grand final triumph.

However, in one of the great NRL ruses, the club announced Cronk had suffered a torn rotator cuff in his left shoulder — an injury much less significant and much less painful — in a deceitful attempt to confuse their Melbourne rivals.

It wasn't an omission of truth. It wasn't a grey area. It was a lie. A whopper as big as they come.

The Roosters team doctor Ameer Ibrahim said after the game that Cronk's injury — which required four painkilling injections — is more commonly seen in car crash victims.

Robinson said his team deliberately cooked up the story of Cronk struggling to recover from a torn rotator cuff to throw the Storm off the scent.

It was a complete fabrication, and one that fans, both casual supporters and Roosters fanatics, had to swallow the entire week.

Tragically, rather than be shouted down for his lies, there were giggles heard behind the cameras when the Roosters' dual premiership-winning coach admitted he'd lied through his teeth all week.

Asked if he had seen a braver performance than the one Cronk delivered on the biggest stage, Robinson declared: "Never.

"I've seen guys get injured in games, but I haven't seen a guy fracture his scapula, complete break through the scapula, play 60 minutes with it, and then have to deal with it all week, have four different lots of injections during the week."

Robinson said he'd never seen a player mentally stronger than Cronk.

"It's legend status in our game, that. And it's not an understatement," he said.

"And we got to witness it. Honestly, I was observing every day and to watch a man go through that was awesome."

The coach revealed the club intentionally chose not to disclose the exact nature of its star player's fractured scapula, instead opting to say he had a severe rotator cuff injury.

"We were really honest: not with you guys (the media), but the players," he said.

"We knew that the rotator cuff was good for us to have.

"If we said it was a fractured scapula, it was pretty obvious that he either wasn't going to play and it wasn't gradings, whereas the rotator cuff was a certain range.

"So we said, 'We're going to say it's a rotator cuff so people don't know, but this is exactly what's happened to Cooper and this is what it's going to take."

With Cronk playing, the lie ultimately served no purpose. It wasn't to protect the player named to play at halfback — utility Mitchell Aubusson. It wasn't to stop the Storm preparing strategies to expose whichever player did slot in at halfback.

In the end it was a lie just to keep the Storm confused. Storm coach Craig Bellamy, arguably the game's greatest coach right now, already had his plans to target Cronk's shoulder. In that sense, the lie served no purpose.

Robinson said every player knew as early as last Sunday that Cronk had a broken bone.

Every player.

Roosters players conducted hundreds of interviews during the week where they were asked about Cronk's famed shoulder. None of them told the truth. Hundreds of interviews, hundreds of lies.

As soon as the club went specific with details of a claimed torn rotator cuff it was no longer a small fib. It was an out-and-out lie and it was the casual nature of Robinson's post-game admission that is most shocking.

Robinson has long been praised as a true rugby league statesman that has made his sport's reputation one of the bricks his playing group is built on.

He worked tirelessly to improve the game in his previous work on the NRL's competition committee.

But in this instance he's responsible for a new low in the fractured relationship between fans and their clubs.

Cronk also showed no discomfort at all when discussing how his team was able to keep his broken scapula secret during the week.

He stepped up at his press conference last week after their win over the Rabbitohs with his arm in a sling. He joked in his post-game press conference about his mindset heading into that pre-game media opportunity and how he was best going to be able to lie about his injury.

The lack of respect for fans surrounding NRL team announcements has been an ongoing issue for the game in recent years.

There have been public calls for the NRL to introduce a fines system similar to the NFL to stop clubs pulling 11th hour team selection changes that leave fans in the dark.

The game was left red-faced when Billy Slater was ruled out of the State of Origin series opener earlier this year just hours after Queensland coach Kevin Walters declared Slater had been cleared to play. More lies.

Then, the NRL made a song and dance about sending an email to the QRL and NSWRL to ask for more transparency around team selections, but in the end it was just another case of lies going unchallenged.

With betting agencies now more entrenched in the sport than any time before there have been widespread calls for team selection information to be made more transparent.

The Roosters' shameful week shows the NRL's recent work to limit the lies told by clubs has been a bandaid for a bullet wound.

The NRL overhauled its team selection system recently to force clubs to cut their team lists back to just 19 players 24 hours before kick-off.

Clearly it is not enough.

The Roosters' ability to keep Cronk's injury in-house in a sport famous for leaking more information than the government's back bench is being celebrated as the clearest example of the extraordinary harmony and respect within the Roosters' dressing room.

That respect doesn't extend to the fans — and their lies should be seen for what they are — a blight on the game.

Hopefully he wears it for a few days and gets some photos taken. Could make a good meme with Napa turning up to different places around the world or different events.

Even just the simple photo in the story makes me chuckle. Looks like some of the kids you see at the super market on a Saturday morning.

Never taking it off! It's been 15 hours and @dylannapa is STILL wearing his @SydneyRoosters kit from last night https://bit.ly/2NSwZId

Napa's style reminiscent of Chris Heighington at the Sharks two years ago who said at the time he wasn't going to take his premiership jersey off for three days.

We are not sure if Napa is going to emulate the Sharks forward but he is showing a similar level of commitment so far.

Roosters players presented the Provan-Summons Trophy to their adoring fans with co-captains Boyd Cordner and Jake Friend holding aloft the prize for winning the grand final.

Sunday's victory marked the Roosters' second premiership under coach Trent Robinson, the first coming back in 2013.

The daylight revealed Cooper Cronk wasn't the only player to show remarkable courage during last night's decider against Melboune.

Star winger Blake Ferguson, who showed up to the fan day in a moon boot and on crutches, played with a broken leg.

Cronk also was in a sling after it was revealed he took to the field with a broken scapula.

Around 500 decked in blue red and white turned up to Moore Park for a glimpse of the grand final trophy in the flesh.

The loudest cheers were reserved for the side's stalwarts Jared Waerea-Hargreaves and Mitch Aubusson.

After singing the team song, the players headed into Allianz Stadium to enjoy some beers on the turf for one last time before the stadium is torn down as part of a redevelopment.

He's the next Supercoach for sure, and he's still only 41!

2013 - Minor Premiers, Premiers
2014 - Minor Premiers, Lost in Prelim
2015 - Minor Premiers, Lost in Prelim
2017 - 2nd, Lost in Prelim
2018 - Minor Premiers, Premiers

He's coached 158 NRL games and won 100 of them.

imo Cronk wasn't brave, He was either incredibly stupid or under extreme pressure from the coach.
Robinson doesn't rate highly in my estimation for these tactics. Sure he got his premiership but at what cost.
Fortunately the other players did extremely well to protect Cronk whose team direction was admirable.
I'd like to see Robinson explain how that farce was protecting player welfare.
If the shoulder injury is a fractured scapular Robinson should be done for not protecting player welfare.
I must be getting old because all the lies, cheating and dubious goings on throughout the NRL this year has totally ruined my love of the game.
Hope I get over it before Oct 13th :grumpy:
