The comps about as close as it's going to get. What other comp since 2000 has had 12/17 different winners, with it being possibly 14/17 if Warr or Parra had have won. Ofcourse certain clubs will likely be consistently in the premiership window due to a number of factors and the way the comp is structured, thats just the nature of the game and im sure 90% of fans clearly understand that. If majority of fans go into the season from clubs 1 to 16 thinking they're a chance to win the premiership, then thats just pretty low footy IQ, most fans have a pretty good gauge on where their team is at.

Where does the NRL make out that everything is 100% fair anyway?? They talk about how the salary cap keeps the comp closer than any other, but i've never heard about them talking about how everything is 100% fair.

The fans are never gonna know exactly how things work, it's complicated and it's a business after all. I also don't think the NRL is in a postion to tell fans what they should expect from their team, it is sport and there are far too many variables.

closeness in a competition doesnt mean shizz if it means screwing some teams over to get it

how many other comps in the world play the final game/series in the one city regardless of whose playing and where they're positioned?

how many comps implement a hard salary cap but allow unlimited TPA's (which defeats the purpose) and dont use a draft to regulate the talent?

youre right in saying that 100% fairness isnt unachievable but you have to admit that itd be much lower in the nrl as opposed to other competitions. Imagine if Sanzaar decided that the Super Rugby Final would be in Aussie every year. The south africans would be furious.

how is it in the 'nature of the game' for one team to have to travel to Perth every year when they're already the most frequently flown team in the comp? im pretty sure the NRL just use us because they know we'd bring in bigger crowds for them. And as we know, bigger crowds means better publicity and more money for the NRL. Do the Warriors get a bigger slice of the pie for bringing in significantly more spectators than their opposition at an away game? No. Do the warriors get a pat on the back or any good publicity for making the trip over in order to help grow the game? No.

it sounds like you're passing these problems off as things that just happen and cant be helped when in reality the reason is either that the NRL are run too poorely to even acknowledge or solve these problems or that the NRL actually prefer/benefit from these discrepencies in some way

I think you missed my point. I didn't say that the NRL should tell fans what to expect of their teams, that'd be stupid. I said that the NRL should release player salaries and TPA info so everyone knows how much talent each club has in dollar values. It's especially important in a comp where TPA's are common because they lead to teams having significantly different rosters.

Geez Dragons with Sims, Vaughan and Widdop would be handy. I hate injuries, they ruin the spectacle of big occasions. The Dragons sure have had some adversity over the past 7-8 weeks

They were the least affected team for most of the regular season though. It usually all evens out.

If we can't even promote the competition on this forum there's not much hope in the wider community.

Imagine if Sanzaar decided that the Super Rugby Final would be in Aussie every year. The south africans would be furious.

They almost do with the ridiculous finals format, teams that finish with more points and wins frequently miss out on finals because a team from SA and Aus have to have a home final
