Mannering gifts boots to young fan

After their tough 14-13 win over the Roosters, Vodafone Warriors players made their way around the field to show their appreciation to the members and fans who endured the wet and windy conditions of Mt Smart Stadium.

Simon Mannering headed towards the West Stand to sign autographs and take photos with supporters.

As he made his way down the line of patient fans, he stopped for one young fan who had been sitting on the fence with his family.

As gesture of gratitude Mannering took a step back, pulled off his boots and handed them to the young fan sporting a Manurewa Marlins uniform. The family couldn't stop smiling as they took photos to capture the special moment.

In the 80 minutes on the field, Mannering was again Mr Consistent making 135 metres and 48 tackles.

Well deserved. Hopefully he is still up there by the end of the year. That would mean he's still going well, the club is probably going well and we may actually be represented at the Dally M's for a change.

If he gets a Dally M it would be a great comeback from his knee injury.

That is a pretty cool story with Mannering giving his boots away. Made the young boys day.

I watched a replay last night. I just don't get some of the negativity. To me it was two teams having a red hot go at each other in the best sense of the term. I thought it was a terrific game.

Both sides forced each other into errors, that is credit to both sides. The Warriors have now set a benchmark for Defence and need to maintain it. Attack is about half a second out of time. Shaun Johnson's intercept is one. Some issues in timing running onto the ball. I saw Gavet have to stutter step to take a pass and still nearly break through. Little things like that.

Some one like Dave maybe could answer a question for me, why was Lisone packing at 2nd Row in scrums with Bodene at Prop, is there anything in that?

Good spotting Gizzy, I can't explain it.

Someone else might have an idea...have to admit it skipped my notice.

Kearney does work some pretty unusual forward formulations though....he I can only guess he was thinking ?

Just checking on maumalos errors- he's had 10 this season which puts him 24th in the nrl- not too bad really considering 90% of the guys with more are also outside backs.
You're gonna get a few errors out wide.
Here's the top 10

im thinking most of those guys have more touches than maumalo im guessing. also maumalo is judged harsher being a manu type build and player, when we see him make an error we think manu.

Personal preference perhaps, I played with some guys who did the same thing because they thought it was easiest to pop out and get wide quicker from there than in the second row where you are trapped in.

Was that for attacking scrums or defensive?

Could it also be where the scrums are located? i.e. if the scrum was on the right hand side of the field - would make sense for Bodene to pack in at prop as he doesn't have to get out quickly to get back to his usual position on the field, whereas Lisone would have to get back to the middle.

Alternately, given Bodene's expertise at hooker... maybe he was trying to strike against the feed? Then again, given Lisone's kicking skills, he might be better suited to that one ;)

How the heck did JOHNSON get a point?! o_O He had a shocker! Thought Gavet should have at least got a point for his impact and try...
