And that is why Kearney made a point of telling his players they were just OK against the Eels, because you are bang on brother.Just finished the rankings for this week, and it hit me how big a test this is match is going to be for us. A win against a well placed Canberra team on the basis of solid foundations will do so much for our players' headspace. Should we win, I think man management is going to be a key part of any success this year - without taking the piss, most of our players aren't used to consistent winning, and I'd hate to see it stuff things up with ego issues.
I think we will see Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad challenge Kata for that spot before season ends unless Kata starts passing.because he is one of the better if not the best centre we currently have.

happy to take that one to the bookie, if you had and NZW$ leftI think we will see Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad challenge Kata for that spot before season ends unless Kata starts passing.
I don't think that time is now but Form and Kearney will be dialoguing about the left edge issues....how could they not, Sol not passing will come up in that ongoing review stuff.
Forans used to working with people like Lyon, Whare, SKD, Matai, Jennings.
Foran has only been used to controlling a left edge with world class ball movement centers.
Wot Foran says goes.
Sols gotta pass...or Foz is Gona say 'setting up to go to Sol is a waste .....I've been telling him to pass and. He's killed our processes ....we can't go above the line Moons....get me another Center partner...so we can run this play and that"

Just noticed Warriors have least injuries of any team in the comp,
probably? Pfft......only a hundred I think.
I don't mind losing either.
Your confidence is noted.
You are probably right.
Nice Post.I think sometimes we can over rate oppositions. The Raiders look very good, but are 3-3 like us. They are higher on the table due to points differential, and deserve to be.
My point is that I remember we thought the same last year and lost in golden point. We have improved a lot this year with Foran and Gavet leading the way in their direct play. I also think we have a lot more improvement in us than the Raiders, if we continue our upward trend. Keeping concentration and structure should be easier away, us against the world scenario. We haven't come close to seeing our backline flourish. Now the attention has shifted to Foran, Roger Tuivasa-Sheck and Shaun Johnson can maybe get some room. Shaun Johnson has a history of ripping the Raiders apart.
The play last week that gives me most hope for the future was Roger Tuivasa-Sheck and Fusitua stopping Radraga in the corner. I doubt that would have happened last year. This is a tough ask to win this one, however it starts 0-0.
It's the one thing Kearney has always espoused, to play the australian model of footy. Defence with simple structure ball in hand to achieve greater possession which leads to more advantagous opportunities to score, he did it with the Kiwis and now it's Warriors time.Kearney is doing an amazing job where it matters, changing our stats, making the Warriors one of the most consistent sides in the comp in key areas where previously they sucked.
Who can blame you.You can only play what's in front of you however 120 minutes of decent football against below average opposition has me scoring us at about a 4 out of 10. If we are competitive away from home against the Raiders and Storm then that will be great however we could still very easily be 3-5 going into further tough games against the Roosters and Panthers. Fuck I hope I'm wrong in my pessimism however I'm finding it very difficult to shake.
You and I and a few others have stood by Kearney because we probably have a respect for history and what he changed in a generation after a century of failures. It's the one thing Kearney has always espoused, to play the australian model of footy. Defence with simple structure ball in hand to achieve greater possession which leads to more advantagous opportunities to score, he did it with the Kiwis and now it's Warriors time.
This is why we wanted SK as head coach of the Warriors..
A nice change from the last few years where trying to get the same side on the park 2-3 weeks in a row was close to impossible. Maybe our luck is about to change.Just noticed Warriors have least injuries of any team in the comp, if they are going to clock up a string of wins then now is the time
nice assesment but i dont agree about Mannering. Its reliance on his super tackling that has lead to a forward pack like they have had in the past. This year SK is spelling him, while a good player he is not irreplaceable anymore.Who can blame you.
We have been conditioned by shit.
One injury to the big four and its all over rover anyway.
Lose Mannering....its gorne.
If you look at this season....on form...we go into none of these games as favorites.
I didn't have us favorites V the Eels.
The knights on form, and the Tigers, are the only clubs you could sensibly give a favorites tag to the Warriors.
An Injury decimated Titans, a fullback less Eels....competed easily with our lot.
So yeah a red hot Canberra at away....and all those other bastards are better.
Our biggest strength is we are getting better, but every week is gonna feel like the step up has arrived too soon.
Quite honestly we look like a round one NRL side finding its feet ( did anyone see Lisone buckled over hands on knees, Ligi Sao the same....these are brief impact forwards ffs) while coach sticks with Gubb and James Gavet coz they go and go.
People make breaks in the clear, and there are still plenty of occasions no ones in support (Roger Tuivasa-Sheck last week).
We still have retardo ends to sets....
We have only had one good game on D (you could say glass half full that since it was our last game we have changed something).
These sides we are about to go don't look like round one sides, they're five rounds better.
That's reality.
The good news, is we are steadily getting better, and we aren't under much pressure.
I know its cliche......I know its the Warriors.....but we have so much improvement in us.....there is the slow starters thing.....and there is the trying harder thing.....and our class on paper...I have to keep reminding myself we have never seen the Four spine stars all together with the team starting to click.
If I'm right.....we probably lose this week....upset the Storm in an Anzac test match type Warrior typical fashion...
That gives us 4-4
We kill the Roosters at home because our combinations aren't round one shit anymore.....5-4 top eight.....thereafter we realise we can beat all of them....play like it.
Let's see how that plays out....but I said in the preseason if the super four are fit + Mannering.....the Warriors under Kearney will be horrible till Foran completes two games...
then they will storm the eight and wipe everyone.
You and I and a few others have stood by Kearney because we probably have a respect for history and what he changed in a generation after a century of failures.
Where Kearney pisses people off is he don't pick fantasy teams....he don't pick the most talented....he doesn't pick on the impulse of form.
He talks like a moron.
He picks anyone who does what he says...end of.
I would add that Canberra are hard to earn a penalty against at home (lowest in the league).Canberra at home, is there a harder venue in the comp currently? For me no. The Viking clap, the horn blown by a Raiders legend, worth 6 points already? Probably.
Wests showed for 35 minutes they can be shut down, Canberra then showed us how it looks when this isn't applied for a full 80 minutes.
Across the park Canberra stinks of danger, backed up by an intimidating go forward monster pack, great direction from Hodgson and hungry outside backs seeking quick play the balls around tired defenders. Canberra, you would have to say will get 4 tries regardless of defensive excellence.
Are we up to the bare minimum mistakes for 80 minutes, with the ability to score 30 points to match Canberra's freakish attack? Wouldn't put my mortgage on it.
There is a bigger picture here, a great opportunity with a realistic loss but show we will not capitulate against a rolling juggernaut and stick to a game plan regardless of freaky talent. Unpredictadle talent like Canberra's under must win pressure will traditionally find it harder to maintain in finals footy, just seems to be that way.
Whereas structure adhered to during the season will absolutely pay dividends during finals footy.( yes we can play finals footy)
We have the ability to front up and cause an upset, but an upset it will be.
Very excited nonetheless as this looms as a pivotal showing in our growth.
