Rd1 team, then Roger Tuivasa-Sheck getting concussed after this
Kerney should have left Fusitua at center and brought in a new winger IMO.

Clark is a rookie getting his first taste so no surprises there.

Afoa can come back to FG anytime, but a rest might be good for him going forward.

Vete is a major disappointment at this stage. He destroyed the u20s but hasn't built his game up enough to realize his potential. There's still time tho.

Gavet is having a breakout season thus far, and Lino is in the wings with Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad as players who deserve a shot at the big time.

Hingano makes way for Foran, but then again so does everyone else in the team.

I'm not overly miffed at anything Kerney's done so far. I'd like to see some changes in the back line. But coming off a win, I'll bide my time.

IMO this whole team naming on Tuesdays is a bit nonsensical, especially for teams who played on the previous Sunday.
To me is just to fill newspapers and magazines. And you can see from who gets named and in what positions the coaches don't care too much for it either.

Those bagging Kearney for not dropping this player and that...
I don't disagree that some players deserved to be dropped but it's not going to happen after a win, it rarely happens by any coach.

Kata has been the biggest disappointment for me so far this year, he's not half the player he was last season. After 5 rounds he is only in this team on reputation. Something isn't right with him, he looks lethargic, isn't hungry to get his hands on the ball and take a hit up, he is looking lost on D, slow and unconditioned. Maybe the kiwi tour drained him or he's carrying a niggle.

Same team makes sense, if they can play 80 like they played the last 40 we'll be ok. Kata has to play for two reasons 1) He's probably our best back defensively & 2) Our alternatives are a rookie utility back and Allwood who we have been trying to give away for at least the last year unsuccessfully.

Good to have a team reasonably settled. It seems like the last few years someone was constantly being swapped out due to injuries or suspensions. Hopefully a few weeks injury free and we can hopefully win as we are more settled or at least remove it from the list of excuses if we lose.

Hopefully we see Roache added to the side soon.

So on attack Fusitua is at centre and then swapping to wing on defense? Is this just to defuse bombs that come their way? Or because they feel Ayshford is errr… better defending in-field that out wide?

I reckon Vete and Lino will be the first two culled 24 hours before the game. And then Afoa and Hingano an hour before the match. If Roache is in the 17 I pray like hell that we use him in the match.

I've found with the new team naming protocols that the naming of our ISP & U20's sides is a pretty good barometer for who makes the Warriors first grade side come game day, it's fairly transparent. If there in the squad of 21 and also named in the others sides there's a fair chance they'll be playing for those sides unless there's an injury.

We won so I'm happy with the team, except for Ayshford. I know he's got some fans in here but I'm not one. Not a hater just never thought much of his play. Allwood neither.
In my reasoning it must be Blakes size and experience that are his advantages over Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad in the pecking order.
Would really love to see Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad get a chance. Then again, a lot of us were saying that most of last year.

Having James Gavet start while wearing the #15 jersey isnt mind games but simply because they dont have a #8 or #10 jersey that fits him. These things are custom made for players...
Are you sure? Maybe Diehard could explain the difference between the roles of a player starting while wearing the # 15 to in starting in # 8 ;)

I think it might be exhaustion to be honest. He's played just about every NRL game since his debut and then the Kiwis tour last year. That's gotta be mentally draining as well as physically draining. When you add to that, other teams now have footage on his tendencies, it's bound to limit his effectiveness. But yeah, you are right. He's been rubbish.

Forwards are pretty even but play different styles. Will be interesting to see who comes out on top.

Like any game of rugby ever played it will come down to the forwards. If they play 2nd half like for the game I expect a fairly easy win. First half like they will get done.

Unfortunately some of our players have the concentration span of a concussed whitebait. Just play the structures.
