Some small positives from the year from individual players. Tevanga needs to be in the team somewhere, shows good competitiveness and heart but he would need backing up with some aggressive bigger bodies.

As for our coaching staff and style of play?!

Well let's just say I am glad our seasons over so I can do more exciting things like watch the wall across from my house to try and measure if it will move enough to be classified as subsiding.

The commentators said it looked like it was a plan to have all the players in the defensive line, so blame Kearney.
I defended Kearney all year because the young forwards were showing improvement in carries. They still are but it isn't enough. He is just an assistant coach who has shown Doyle up again.
The commentator was orally servicing Roger Tuivasa-Sheck from the get go and made it quite clear of his bias, but Roger Tuivasa-Sheck simply raced into the line before the DH made his play and unfortunately for the rest of the Warriors team Roger Tuivasa-Sheck went to the short side and the ball went the other way. That's why Brooks' kicked and how the Tigers scored.
Now bruce your a learned league man, where should the FB be in defence and don't use any BS excuses like "it's Kearney's fault" because that only proves Roger Tuivasa-Sheck isn't as good as some commentators fantasies..

Shyte, does Kearney control and paste his after match speeches as well like he does with his team selection? Just sounds like a bunch of excuses - and feck off with him, doyle and cameron are gonna fix it - oh yeah, i feel so much better already :banghead::banghead::banghead:......................................................... Couple of individuals not ready for first grade, really Steve? More than a few i think.:mad::mad:

kearney hasnt been here since round 5 but doyle hasnt wanted anyone to know, he sniffed a line of powdered red bull and sucked himself into his own nostrils which created a black hole over mt smart. since then cappy has ctrl c ctrl v each week and jim henson created a lifesize SK for the coaches box and the presser where they have a tape with him on loop

Yes interesting take on Roger Tuivasa-Sheck. Like many players take them away from the structures which made them successful
( the Roosters) and sometimes they fail to reach that same standard. Maybe it's just the collective " what the fuck am I doing " caused by the whole Warriors BS.
Can't recall him having too many defensive deficiencies over at the Roosters, but quite possibly Robbo did a good job in covering for this.

The Roosters were minor premiers 3 years in a row based on their defence. Of course the Roosters covered up some of Roger Tuivasa-Sheck' defensive weaknesses.

With ball in hand Roger Tuivasa-Sheck is working as hard as he ever did minus the opportunity. Defensively though he's getting exposed like any fullback would without any support and competence in front of him.

Most interesting thing from the game was the anti-Kearney momentum that finally seems to be building. Commentators both in Aussie and in the Auckland studio taking every chance they could to bag the Warriors boring style.
So you'll be voting for Jacinda then,

Roger Tuivasa-Sheck is just as guilty of incompetence too..

This today from Hoffman.

"It's just at the moment we don't have blokes that are first-grade ready."

You said it pal.

Not the end of the season we wanted, was it? But sadly typical - couldn't even lift to get a win against one of the bottom ranked teams. Sure, injuries, but you'd have thought they would really, really have wanted to get the "nine losses in a row" monkey off their backs, and they couldn't.

We're all somewhere between sad and mad, but let's at least acknowledge a few people who gave it a proper go in the game - Issac Luke in particular, who I thought at the time was flying around the field and when I checked I found he did indeed score the most Fantasy points for our side. Haven't always been a fan of how he's gone this year, but he gave it heaps last night. Hat tips too to Mannering as always, Matulino, Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, Lino. And at least our defensive line speed looked like a proper side's, unlike the "stand there and wait for them to come to us" that we've been lumbered with in some previous games.

What do we need to do to have a better season next year?

- Recruit. Even after Tohu Harris we're short at least one big line-bending forward, preferably with offload skills

- Develop our own talent better. We've got relatively inside access to the Kiwi talent pool and we should be bringing it through better. Whereas there are any number of war stories of how players have done better elsewhere than in our system. As just one example, from last night, Tui's no saint, and not a superstar for them yet either, but he's done better at the Tigers than he did with us. SK said last night that we've lost the plot in bringing players through, and he's right. He'd better be right that he's starting to fix it

- Blind Freddy can see we've taken the imagination and initiative out of our attack. And I know why: incoming coaches (and I remember it happening in Cappy's early days too) go into "get the basics right" mode. That's right, but it's only part of the answer: it's not enough on its own. Five one-out runs from the play the ball and then a kick aren't going to win games. And we have some players who could be league-topping attackers: Roger Tuivasa-Sheck literally was, in his Roosters days, and we know what Shaun can do

- Sort the psychology. I don't mean "culture" either: I don't know what goes on inside the club. I mean what we can all see on the field: we're not good enough front runners (we relax) and we're generally not great at fightback either (not always, but we can wilt). Get someone (from any code, actually) who can do the head games to harden us up

- Under no circumstances whatsoever agree to any more games in New Zealand away from Mount Smart, or in off the beaten track places in Australia. And while we're all puzzling why we can't win on the road, maybe someone should figure out what Craig Bellamy is doing when the Storm have an better away record (11 -1) than at home (9 -3). Playing away doesn't appear to bother the Sharks, either. If "away" is still messing with our heads in 2018, and we do anything like this year's away performance (1-11) we'll miss the eight again

Here endeth the lesson. Been hard to stay constructive the last few months, but what the hell - you've got to hope for better to come. If we're still not seeing it say halfway though next season, it'll be another story. As I mentioned after our last home game, it was worrying to see that even some real die-hard faithful had already flagged away turning up. Another bad season and I'll be going feral, too!

But let's keep hoping that we know what to fix, and can do it, and get the club back to where it ought to be.

For a second in that second half I thought we might have been primed to snake.

Thankfully, the status quo resumed with Kata making a diagonal dart in front of his inside man to allow the Tigers to stroll in and seal it.

Well done Sol, you can only ask for consistency.

I saw Roger Tuivasa-Sheck speaking about how the extra responsibilities are forcing errors into his game he normally wouldn't have if he just had to think for himself. This shows how stupid the decision to make him captain was. Take the most explosive and gifted player on the team and weigh him down with the burden and responsibility of the warriors captaincy where things only get worse the harder you try.

Nothing against Roger Tuivasa-Sheck because I still believe he is world class, but a captain needs to have presence on the field. They need to be in the officials ear to keep them honest. They also have to know how to communicate with them in a firm, yet respectable manner.

There was an instance in last nights game where Roger Tuivasa-Sheck questioned a call. A Tigers player in the previous play offloaded the ball when it appeared he was tackled. The Warriors were penalised on the subsequent play for a high shot.

Full credit to Roger Tuivasa-Sheck to question the call because I thought for all money the tackle had been made. However, the part that really irked me was after the ref gave his explanation on why the tackle wasn't completed (because the ball playing hand had not touched the ground before the ball was offloaded), Roger Tuivasa-Sheck simply said "Wooowwww, woooooooowww really?" with this stupid sarcastic smirk on his face.

The refs explanation was a reasonable one and yes, according to the black letter of the rules "a player in possession is tackled when he is held by one or more opposing players and the ball or the hand or arm holding the ball comes into contact with the ground."

I know it's his first year as captain and it's all a bit of a learning experience but trying to be all witty and sarcastic with officials generally doesn't go down to well. If he wants to be taken seriously by the officials, he needs to show a little more maturity and respect.

top notch Tui, way to classy for our crap ass club with a ceo who thinks taking our money makes us happy. soon to be relieved of his own money i reckon,.

Go Tui, you are the best 6 the warriors club has ever produced, Hingano a close but not close enough second.

The satisfaction on Tuis face when he crossed the line.

All we needed.
