Because the rule is you have to be near on 100% certain to score the try, he was noway near certain to score that. Ball was doing the dirty bounce. Penalty and send off for mine.

But then again it's the nrl, so role the dice. Nobody has any idea, most notably the refs.

You are saying the same thing as the commentators, but you all seem to think it is something it is not.

nowhere in the rule does it mention being 'near on 100% certain'.

it does mention defenders impending a player through foul play from probably (in the refs interpretation) scoring a try.

‘The Referee (or Review Officials) may award a penalty try if, in his opinion, a try would have been scored but for the
unfair play of the defending team.

Sorry the referee needs to be 100% certain. 4m out from the line, with a bumbling low ball. Noway is that a penalty try. Ryan hoffmans vs roosters last year was a better example of what should have been a penalty try.

So if he is not 100% certain of his "opinion". Then how can he confidently say it was gonna be a try??

I think Fox commentators are often wrong. But agree with them on that one.

you are arguing the wrong point.

they are saying the try had to be 100% certain to be scored and that is not the case.

the ref just has to be of the opinion that it would be scored... i'm of the opinion that Labour will win the election... but i'm not 100% certain.

Ok got ya now. Well i'm very doubtful of the ref/bunkers opinion there. I don't think he scores that.

Have seen much more likely ones been given as just penaltys all year.

Gutted for the Chooks my 2nd team. Should have closed that set out, not given away the 7 tackle. Damn.

Great game

Being a crazy mofo- that was loose- I couldn't stop laughing.
As a guy who trains a lot I must admit he has a pretty good vertical jump.;) He showed some good athleticism I bet his team mates were all time and place dude.

Good no one got hurt it was a pretty WTF moment. Players get enough grief leading with their knees on low tackles for someone to jump at them when they try a ball and all tackle.

Imagine if he did jump over them. Next week we'd probably have a new written up.o_O

You have to love this competition. Yesterday I'm watching the Tigers vs Manly game thinking the result is sorted so I'll be the good husband and let my wife watch what she wants to watch. A bit of a keeping in her good books so I can watch the games next week.

Of course I see the news this morning the Tigers won.:banghead:
