16pts. 9 games remaining (including one bye).

4 home, 4 away.

26pts supposedly the magic number for finals footy (28pts to be safe, barely).

Are we confident of another four wins?

At home: Panthers, Sharks, Sea Eagles & Raiders.

Away: Rabbitohs, Knights, Cowboys & Tigers.

If anything we'll scrape in for the first time in six seasons with 28pts, otherwise see you in 2018.

He was only getting touches on the 5th tackle a lot of the game. What I saw from Matt Moylan a few weeks ago where he had 4 touches in a set to beat Canberra is what we need from Shaun. There was no urgency. Where is he before the 5th tackle? I'm sick of his stupid run across field and give it to cutter. We wasted hit tackles on attack because nothing was organised or there was no purpose or energy.
You can blame the half back but maybe the coach needs to do something better - we waste so many plays on 'settlers' that go nowhere when we need to spread the pay or cut in like the top teams do. Don't just give it to some so-so prop who's never going to go more than 3 metres.

we went toe to toe with a team with smashed last years premiers...we had key players out and we lost vete to a broken arm..and we went close at the end...moaners out in force again ha
Key players? Luke, yes, Lissone and Hoffman???

so not the panthers performance or the eels debacle. Not players missing tackles or dropping the ball. it's all on Sam. What a player. the team was struck with injuries during the game. Maybe you were expecting Sam to play dummy half too when Roache got injured? What a player!

I am so glad you aren't running the club. Letting go one of our props when we don't have enough depth there. Nice move.

People are forgetting all the times when Sam stood up and took the control of the game. There was a drop goal I remember, and even a few 5th tackle kicks and attacking grubbers. Sam Lisone is the kind of player that does the unexpected. Even if its just going to a wedding. He is willing to step up and be that guy!:p

The key stat most people forget are the contact metres. When we were up 16 zip our fatties were dominating that area. I switched to the ABs game after that. Switch back and sure enuf! Game Over.

Moral of the story is that you have been conditioned to accept mediocrity as some form of success.

Consider where Manly were at 2 years ago and where they are now - complete turnaround. They are even doing it with Stewart and Matai still on their books!

Compare that to us - incompetent recruitment strategy, incompetent development strategy, failure. If there is one positive then it must be that this will force change - and it can start at the top.

You got the lower the bar mate. Thats what I have come to realise.

We're not best in class.

Far from it.

Being competitive right up to the 80min mark is all you can ask for right now.

And we nearly pulled one out of the bag.

So i'm satisfied. Even though we lost.

See the glass? its half full mate. Not half empty.

Can't compare what Moylan does to Shaun Johnson. Look at Moylans forward pack. Then look at ours? It's like comparing a truck to a skateboard.
Moylan gets more space to do shit off the back of his forwards work.
Shaun Johnson did all he could. He can do more, But he also puts in work in Dee.
I think half the time dude is had it.

the fact is that it is highly unlikely that we make the top 8.
I have been saying for weeks we won't based on our points differential. This is a bottom eight side and may well be next season as well. Nobody half decent wants to play here and even losing an imposter like Sam Lisone weakens the team.

Why should any supporter be happy with that?
All the posters who supported Sam Lisone's getting a holiday to go to a wedding must be happy with that performance. A real soft touch club celebrating it is now second on the ladder...in the bottom 8. The only way I can make sense of it is to applaud what SK is doing with what he has. I can see signs of improvement.
The final 60 minutes read 26-6 to them. It's no different from the Panthers game really.
In this comp small mistakes cost. Bunty was slightly inattentive at marker a few times and let them in for line breaks, otherwise he played his guts out. SK can fix that, he does't really have any other option considering the mess he has been handed.

It does start at the top with EW. He has allowed the bro culture to take over this club. If he really wanted to win anything he would have done something long ago.

that could have been a season defining win for us :meh: really disappointed
It could have been, but it is too difficult to win in Perth. The players cannot be blamed for that. The problems started much earlier in the season, actually long before that. This competition doesn't reward an ounce of slackness in any club. Just look at Canberra right now.

Yup, after 6 years of no change it's a crime there isn't more optimism around here.
I am optimistic that we have a coach who has the balls to take what he can by the scruff of the neck and try to sort it out. Just look at the improvement of some of the players this season e.g. Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad, Ken Maumolo and Bodene Thompson to name a few. The true test will come next season to see if we can regularly perform at the bottom of the top eight.

I get that but good halves can motivate a pack to take meaningful hit ups if they trust the half is setting up to something. Moylan had plans to score and knew exactly what he wanted from hIs forwards. They stepped up and Moylan directed them.

As for Shaun he doesn't know what to do sometimes. And he has become so reliant on set plays that if we can't set up a play everything else is a settler to a kick. You have to demand your forwards step up but at the same time your forwards have to trust you know what you're planning to do. At the moment neither department really believes in each other.

At the start of the season we would have seen Manly as a team we should beat. Their improvement has been substantial while we have gone no where.

That idiot is a bloody disgrace. WTF does he get employed for so many Warriors games? He has to be the biggest fuckwit of a commentator going.
I can only assume it's because he is part of the commentary team that does the games nobody in Aussie gives that much of a fuck about.... when the Warriors are in Aussie...that's them!

You lost me at Bodene. There's a reason we offered him a pretty dire contract for next year that he'd be unlikely to take and there were enough shirt grabs last night to justify that offer.

The problem as always is finding a replacement.

Don't worry I'm under no illusions as to where we are at as a club. That is why when we were 16-nil up I was fully expecting Manly to still pull through for the win (I bet nearly everyone else expected it also).

What I can't accept are the reasons our club is now in this position. The problems start at the very top and until there are changes at that level then our club will continue to fail.

Manly were pretty poor for the first 20 and even 16-0 up I was waiting for the momentum swing and inevitable drop off. We did well to take advantage of their slow start but most good teams won't give us the leg up.
When they decided to play we just couldn't match it with them.

Shaun Johnson had his best game in a while I thought but he had opportunities to run and didn't, is he ever going to get that speed and evasiveness back? I hope so but age and injuries might say no chance.

Matulino looked like he wanted to be there for a change, he made a difference.

Foran doesn't seem to have the impact he had at the start of the year, that might be good for us in the end as won't be too reliant on him.

Roache was pretty good but the mix up with bunty at marker where they let some bloke run through and set up a try was lazy shit and a turning point, although he had been involved in the 4 tackles before that so was trying hard.

I don't really see any huge improvement week to week to be honest, just some weeks some individuals are up then others the next and then some back down, overall I just can't see it getting better.

Bodene was second top tackler although he missed three. His carries were good as well. Sure he isn't world class but he has improved since the soft drink affair last season.

Management 101, the buck always stops at the top, that being EW, not JD. I wouldn't mind seeing the back of him but who would you get to replace him right now. Don't bring up Carlaw Park again Welly, we can leave that out of it.

This is a tough comp and some management are still on the learning curve and I still rate the way SK is dealing with things.

Having said that you have to feel for the Dogs where the Chairman signs up players well over the cap despite the protests of his CEO.

I still hold out hope that JD is going to cash in on the salary cap issue for nest season. Whether he intended to or not.
