Bracing for the inevitable shock to the system of round one (mine and the players).

No disrespect to the combatants in the Titans trial...but they had a ISP side out there for most of the game....

The main shock to our players will be the difference in line speed....not getting easy meters like that game.

Same old threats to the Warriors coming to a TV set near you real soon.

Being behind on the score board, slow to adjust to momentum shifts.
Hold the ball
Penalties
Disorganization
Clocking off.

When we play the Knights there is the enduring history of being out enthused, out thought, out played....all intangibles...
Welcome back to the Warriors Stephen Kearney....God Speed.

I can tell you're just trying to keep your expectations low, so you don't get warrior flu (tiredness from shattered dreams, headaches from hitting your head against a wall when we drop the ball in our in-goal, fever from being cold, waiting for a try-then hot when we score, then cold again when you get paralysed from disillusionment).

I think the first 2 are still valid. The last 3 I expect to be better since we don't have so many newbies starting. They're experienced now. However disorganization could happen because we've decided to go with a trial 5/8th rather than an experienced one (I know I am biased because I think we've handled Tui wrongly). Hingano better be shit hot, cos the club has made a big statement that they are focusing on starting well, which is why they didn't bother with the 9s. If we play shit in this game (even if we win), I'm going to be livid. Cos they've made a few 'eyebrow-raising' choices that they explained away as 'our best options to be start the year successfully'.

I don't mind losing if the knights play good. But if we lose because we haven't turned up and there is shit effort I'm going to be filthy. Happy with the team because who else can we pick. IMO gavet is shit, so gubb has to do. Anyways if we don't win we fukt anyways

For me they are

- no back up hooker on bench, stupid risk to take, if Luke gets injured early we probably lose the game
- Gubb starting, he should be last choice not starting prop, I hope he proves me wrong but I doubt it
- Maumalo on the wing, I would much rather Ayshford, Maumalo is too much risk, cant finish shit defence is good for one or two hitups thats it

Then come game day you're all excited coz you know no other way (might as well quit the habit otherwise)...

-Gubb starting, he should be last choice not starting prop, I hope he proves me wrong but I doubt it..... We all know you hate Gubb, so answer is just on personal gripe and nothing to do with preseason training as well as coach saying he deserves the chance ?

- Maumalo on the wing, I would much rather Ayshford, Maumalo is too much risk, cant finish shit defence is good for one or two hitups thats it.....Totally agree on Maumalo, BUT not Ayshford on the wing, hes a fill in centre not a winger.

I would personally want SK to say "this is a home game against the wooden spooners and we WILL kick arse, put your mortgage on it !!!!!" Which i believe most fans would then agree with his team selection.

He actually filled in a lot there at the Titans. Shouldn't be played there though in my opinion he's just as an elite/effective second rower as Cordner or Gillet.
Id move Bo to centre where he has performed well in the past. Kata Id move to hooker to utilise his old rugby halfback skills and darting runs. We've seen how shit we look with poor service from dummy half during the trials. Thats why Jazz Tevaga lost his spot to Erin Clark...

If this happens we're fucked this season.

such a backward step

I agree. But we don't have a centre cover on the bench who doubles as a prop lol.

Our backline cover appears to me like internal position swapping with Mannering or Bodene shifting to centre.

I hope there is a better plan though

I am hoping Sione Mata'utia doesn't wreck our forward pack and what a good buy by the Knights in nabbing both Sio and Tupou now that's smart. Good luck Warriors

If you are Stephen Kearney, and the NRL gifts you a winnable game in round one, you probably should try Luke for 80.

You probably should take this boon and use it to make a statement about rewarding your troops who went hardest in the preseason build up.

All things being equal, a team with Luke, Mannering, Shaun Johnson, + Roger Tuivasa-Sheck....the sort of players Newcastle are envious of....should afford us to match their youthful exuberance with our own Maumalos + Gubs + Hingano's.

Personally I recon this is exactly the time to take risks on effort, demand 80min from Luke, start day one doing your own thing as coach.

What happens if we win and all play well ? What happens next game ?

Cappy and Jim played a team without the naughty six last year.

The fookers beat the Dragons !

Their reward was to return to the ISP to make way for the naughty ones.

So yeah, I hope this side wins, I hope this side puts the same question to the coach who will face his old club the Storm....Cappy and Jim failed IMO to preserve culture over talent.

In essence, if we win, will Kearney change a winning team including changing lesser reputationed players that play well on Sunday ?

If they last 26 rounds the doctor will look at omitting you to hospital. A few years and a psychiatric assessment is recommended. 20 plus years of repeated mental trauma and ............oh wait.

omitting or admitting?

apart from that, the trauma I have endured for so long means I am incapable of understanding the rest of your sentence. ;)
