I just hope our first line of DEFENCE holds... last year the defence leaked for the first few rounds and poor old Roger Tuivasa-Sheck had an awful time trying to stop big forwards coming at him .(Absolutely no need for that to happen) .. I didnt blame him lookin like turnstile in the end

If Luke goes down or doesn't last the full 80 then I'd like to see Bodene play in the centres, Kata or Fusitua move out to Wing, Lolohea to 5/8 and Hingano to Hooker

If Bully runs out of juice.

Tui to 9.

Fusitua to wing.

Mannering to centre.

Papalii to back row or whoever is on the bench.

If Bully runs out of juice.
The way the team list is set now he simply cant run out of juice. The best he'll get is hanging wider off the middle to get a breather. To play that bench with the possibility of Luke getting too tired is completely unforgivable and a true rookie move from Kearney. Mooks' selections leave no doubt in anyones mind that he feels Luke is 100% up to it.

The only concern should be whether he gets injured...

Warriors to break their 1st round hoo doo
I sure hope so. We have had enough building ourselves up over the off season to only end up getting slaughtered in round 1. Time for us to dish it out for a change.

Sure our record for round 1 is shit but we have a few reasons to be optimistic or at least enough reasons for the guys to be motivated. We haven't had a home game in NZ since 2012, Mt Smart since 2012, the last trial was a pretty good performance, we are playing last years wooden spooners who only won one game last year. We have had a few big losing streaks to close out a season over the last few years and that does move over to the following season where teams seems to find ways to lose; Newcastle will have a few mental demons.

We should also expect our returning from injury superstar and newly appointed captain to tear it up. Hopefuly dragging the rest of the team with him

A new coach to impress.

Sure there are a few things to be nervous like new coaching staff brining in new structures that needs to bedded in, round 1.:nailbiting: But If we lose this weekend I'll probably come on here and vent but I'll seriously need to consider my desire for more punishment over the next 25 rounds and maybe take a mental health break.

Why are people laughing? Thats exactly what Id do...

I'd certainly give that a shot for a game at least, admittedly working on the typical "rugby league second rower can play rugby league centre and vice versa" equation but I see no obvious reason why that's a non-starter of an idea...

He will have a plan B for that. If he does think Luke is 100% up to it that is a good sign, because Luke at his best is very good.

I've seen Shaun Johnson cover dummy half when the 9 gets tackled with the ball.

I'd prefer someone else did it to keep him at 1st receiver.

Maybe Thompson will give Luke a breather....

Anyone know if Bo has ever played rake before???
I think he covered there for a big in one game last year. But at his other clubs he was either a centre or a second rower where since he's been here he's been pretty much just a second rower.

I don't recall him ever playing a full game or being named there.

Knights, Storm. Should atleast be 1 win from 2 after 2 games, but the season proper starts in Rd 3 with the return of Foz to add some brains to the brawn that litters this team (disputable). Admittedly he'll take time to find his feet but barring future injuries to him and Shaun Johnson the season looks promising, FINALLY!

Bracing for the inevitable shock to the system of round one (mine and the players).

No disrespect to the combatants in the Titans trial...but they had a ISP side out there for most of the game....

The main shock to our players will be the difference in line speed....not getting easy meters like that game.

Same old threats to the Warriors coming to a TV set near you real soon.

Being behind on the score board, slow to adjust to momentum shifts.
Hold the ball
Penalties
Disorganization
Clocking off.

When we play the Knights there is the enduring history of being out enthused, out thought, out played....all intangibles...
Welcome back to the Warriors Stephen Kearney....God Speed.

Great spotting.

He actually filled in a lot there at the Titans. Shouldn't be played there though in my opinion he's just as an elite/effective second rower as Cordner or Gillet.
