Why do they keep persisting with Wright when Maumalo must near be the top try scorer in the Intrust Super Premiership?

Why is Fusitua playing Fullback this weekend when he is a winger who the club tried to turn into a centre?

Why is Wells not playing Fullback this weekend when he is clearly a much better option?

Why haven't Lisone and Gubb been given a spell in reserve grade?

1) I'm a big critic of Jonathan Wright, but, he's been pretty good this year. He's saved our arses a number of times on the edge and he's taking his try scoring opportunities. Carting the ball up he's been ok as well. Ken Maumalo went into selection debt heavily last year, he was horrible. Another month or so and then I'd consider him.

2) Because David Fusitua played there last night and frankly was our best by some margin. Yes, they are trying to get him into the centres as a project, but he is quite versatile.

3) Three or four games in Premier League I don't think is enough to say he's clearly the better option. To give you a gauge on Premier League, John Palavi regularly stands out in that comp. He's had to bide his time for the last 3 or so years since his debut, but even then I doubt he'll get another shot.

4) Gubb should have been, again he was falling off tackles. That one I agree with. I would have gone Lauitiiti on one edge, Hoffman on the other, and Thompson at lock. Lisone was horrible on the weekend, but the weekend before he was excellent. Go figure.

Is Konnie injured? he had to be given a shot after last night, surely he makes the 17, there must be some personal shit going on, poor bastard deserves some game time, even if this season is ggooonnnee at least Kon would get another 20 FG games of experience, J Wright offers nothing that limp dick couldn't even get back into the field of play from half a metre out and then just didn't care, that c**t is part of the 'no bro' culture.

Why does he deserve a shot? The centres aren't the problem at the moment. He had a shot in the backrow and was unconvincing.

I honestly think I can let last night go, and move on and see what can be done this season, but seriously, if we put in another performance like last night, I'll pretty much stop watching until 2017, maybe jump on the sharks/eels bandwagon

Our forward pack was the problem and I think they have been for a few years now. Lillyman doesn't provide enough go forward, lisone is a joke, mannering may try hard but I just don't know if he's up to the physical demands of being a first grade NRL player in the forward pack. Hoffman puts on a good show but his influence on the game is pretty damn minimal. We should've skipped signing Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, moved lolohea to FB at the start of the year and tried to recruit some players like brommich, taumololo, Napa, just 1-2 really beasty, hungry props who have a high work rate and are big enough to really go toe to toe with the bigger forward packs in the comp

we should've thrown Roger Tuivasa-Sheck' entire paycheck at the Fafita brothers.

It's hard to win games when the other teams just have their run of the middle all game long

Because even thought Wright ain't going to win you a game, he's not likely to lose it either-his positional play is solid which is what we need at this stage.

All I can think of as I read this is the Roosters game last year when he tried catching a missed drop goal and fumbled it over the dead ball line.

Plus if Maumalo did play, he'd be playing outside Ayshford.

Great post Zig, especially the second paragraph.

Wright's mistakes that lead to tries are few compared to the other options. And I still say Maumalo is weak for his size.

the first 3 tries had nothing to do with forward dominance-it was slack attitude from the first second.

I've said this line more times than i care to remember:

But I think this time I'm done. I won't watch closely again until the 'properly-disciplined generation with balls' arrives. Heck knows when that will be.

I’m not sure what you guys want from the coach at this point. I read a lot of things about player accountability and stepping up to drop our big names so they get a kick up the ass and come back a better player.

In what world does that logic work?

I’ve heard mentions of drop “Johnson, Luke, Hoffman, Manu.. etc”… Humour me, we get rid of these guys for a week, who's left?

If what everyone is saying about the players not playing for the coach, then they sure as hell won’t be after being dropped. Imagine if Johnson got dropped, mentally he would be going "this coach is off his fkn head, this team single handedly relies on me to have any chance of winning games". He would NOT come back a better player. I recall a game a couple of years ago where Maloney and Johnson were dropped to the bench and it did absolutely nothing in terms of development. I think they brought in Mateo/Godinet as the combination, memory is a bit dusty.

Cappy is in no position to drop these big name players. If he drops the players, we have players fill in who are not first grade level. If he doesn’t drop the players, he gets criticised about not making big decisions by dropping his big name players.

He’s damned if he does, damned if he doesn’t. Do I admit he’s not the greatest coach going around? Yes. Do I think getting a new coach mid-season is going to help us? HELL NO!

I could rant for hours about how dropping our big name players is not logical, but 90% of the forum posters here just don’t get it. The solution of sending out an ISP team in first grade to teach the big name players a lesson, is not the solution. I promise you, when the team gets wrecked (and they will), the next week when Johnson and co are brought back in and then they lead with the mentality "ha ha ha good one cappy, that’ll never happen again". If anything, it would make them more comfortable knowing that the team can't perform without them, so their position is safe.

Based on, and averaging, all of everyone's suggestions, your first grade team would look like this against the Dragons

1. Wells
2. Fusitua
3. Ayshford
4. Allwood
5. Maumalo
6. Hingano
7. Lino
8. Lillyman
9. Tevaga
10. Matulino
11. Bodene
12. Lane
13. Lautiti

This team would get WRECKED.

Now, I can't come here and write off suggestions that other forum members are posting without my own possible solution. To be honest, I don't have one and I suspect it's because there isn't a simple one. The Warriors are not a club that people want to play for, you either play for us because you're in Auckland, or because it's the final year of your contract and we're throwing the big bucks at you. Also a select few, you can't even make first grade for any other side (Wright).

The media and our players have destroyed us as a club. It will be close to impossible to get to a point where people want to be a Warrior. Most kids in NZ see this and think, I wanna be an All Black.

To the day this club folds, I will be a full Warriors supporter. When these guys lose, it literally ruins my weekend. When they win, I can't even express the Joy it brings to me.

What we need to do is go day by day with this team with the same coach for the rest of the year. We can make the top 8, I have no doubt. Finals footy is a different game, and admittedly the boys click into gear when it comes finals time. Our goal for the season should be, just come 7th or 8th. If we can do that, the mentality changes. It goes from them not having a great attitude and knowing their position is safe, to "Hey, if we string together 4 wins, we win a premiership and that ring would look really cool on my instagram" (I saw a video of Koni, Bodene and Jazz dancing in a food court looking like idiots and thought to myself you spastics how about you win some games before you do stupid shit like that).

Like I said, I could go on for hours typing ... /rant over.

I just got off the plane from Melbourne and was sitting with the boys.

Tui said he is out 4 weeks so the official article seems optimistic with the 2 week prediction.

Mannering was eating fine.

And Charlie Gubb = NICE GUY

So just to get this straight, you play disgracefully on Anzac day game, your defence is shyte, your attitude is worse but yet you still get picked the next week? Yeah good one Crappy, that will encourage them to play well, really sending them the message, for a start Lisone needs to go back to reserve and take some of the other primadonnas with him - give someone a go that whats to play for this team.................... Jaysus, why doesn't he just put in Lousy and Robson and hey while he's there see if Mateo is free this weekend, after all we are still paying him.

On ya mate!

Just one question, how was last night any different?

But you are right. As mad as I am, making wholesale changes won't make a positive difference. The alternatives are worse.

I just don't see anything to look forward to now.

All I can hope for now is that the team knuckle down and DON'T EVER SIT ON THEIR HEELS AGAIN, and try to make a miracle run to the semis. If this is not their attitude for the rest of the season, then they can get fucked. I want to see them make week-on-week improvements in each individual's defensive attitude. If i can see that, and they do make the 8, then all will be forgiven. Anything less and i'm not watching for years.

Kata slept half the flight and later watched Frozen

Mannering and Lane sat together and neither of them said one word with the boys.

Lillyman told the attendant that Kata was an illegal immigrant :D:D:D

Princess checked in and out by himself if you want to read anything into it. When rest of the boys walked around in groups.

Matulino had his hoodie up the whole time and he was standing up, blocking the isle talking with the boys, and people were apologizing to him to walk past :D:D

Yeah. He's one guy who has put in all season. Was so looking forward to he and Roger Tuivasa-Sheck linking up. But nope, Warriors fans never get what they wish for..always false hopes..
